Normally I would never give a game store 5 stars. But this place far exceeded my expectations customer service wise. First off. I don't really play video games, I get bored with them. This review is on the customer service I received here. I decided after I got back from a trip. I wanted to by a PS4 someone I had been talking to told me I had to get this game. So I had to buy the system lol. I called up the number around noon. This girl put me on hold. Then apologized for the inconvenience. I asked her is she had any PS4 systems In stock she said yes she would pull one in the back and reserve it if I would like. She took my name and then asked if I need anything else. So I named a few new games and she said she will see me later. When I arrived. The place was pretty busy but "the sales guy opened the door for me which I thought was super nice of him" I told him I was picking up some reserved items. He had me go talk to the girl who immediately said "your josh right?" She said she had all my stuff here. She asked me if I wanted anything else to my order. I told her "no, I travel too much to play vid games I have a big boy job" I was not intending to sound like a jerk. But she said " ouch that one hurt josh " I felt super bad I would never intentionally put someone down like that. I did not think twice about what I said. After she rang me up she was soo nice. She carried my bags to my car. So I have her a tip. I'm not making this up ether. I never thought in a million years someone would carry my games out for me. I would expect it in a LV or a gucci store but not a local game store. The only downside I have. There was this couple in the store arguing over a game. A grown adult and his wife arguing over weather or not to get a game. Like I'm sorry buddy no one wants to hear that. Other than that I would recommend this place to anyone. PROS: - staff far exceeded my expectations - reserved everything just went in and paid - carried my bags to car CONS: - customers in store were arguing over a game read more

I am so disappointed in GameStop at the Newburgh Mall, I brought a shopping bag from them on 2/12/20 for $4.99, to put all of the stuff that I brought from GameStop inside the shopping bag. The shopping bag handles detached from the bag causing all my stuff to fall out of the bag. I went back a few days later to either get a refund or an exchange and GameStop refused to give me a refund or exchange! It's wasn't the price of the bag but the principality of the whole thing. The manager Christian wasn't helpful, compassionate or even willing to listen to my complaint. Very hurtful experience today!!! SMH read more

I HATE this store!! I left this store foaming at the mouth!! Stopped in to pick up a new game, DESPITE having had bad experiences here in the past (I wanted the game that bad). Anyone who shops GameStop regularly knows they have a tendency to remove the games from the cases to display the games. As much as it sucks to get the "opened" game I can live with it when it's a game I really want (granted I get all the contents). What I can't live with is telling me you want my $55 for a CD ONLY! Either it's store policy to rip off customers or poor employee training. After I asked if they were going to significantly discount the so called "new" game in CD form only, they said very seriously NO because the game was in fact "new". I laughed and told the sales guy he must be smoking a serious crack pipe if he thinks I'm going to buy a game CD with no user manual or case for full retail price. I ended up going to Walmart paying the same price but got the game CD, user manual AND the case. At this point I loathe this store! read more

Gabrielle was awesome. She was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Helped every single customer with their needs, you don't see great customer service like this anymore. She went above and beyond to help me get what I want. She was a gem read more

I went in to get a controller for Xbox one, they did t have the exact one I was looking for, but they were very friendly about answering my questions and helped me find another glowy one I like even better, *with* a 30 day return policy if I happened to not like it for any reason. Made my day and I love the controller! read more

GameStop - Xbox One Controller - Video Game Stores Near Me - Newburgh, New York

Great people in there! Even though times can be busy, the staff is always friendly, helpful and makes getting video game stuff even funner. (and yes that's a real word :p) They've consistently helped me find a good price on controllers or consoles and been transparent and helpful about their return policies given practical suggestions when asking about Xbox/pc peripherals. Thanks again, GameStop employees, we appreciate it! read more

The place is okay if you've reserved the game, but if you need anything else, well good luck (same goes for practically every GameStop in the country). Since employees change often, don't expect lasting business relationships or anything remotely close to exceptional service. Instead expect comments on every game you're trading in or certain used games to no longer exist (convenient timing, especially during deals). The same entitled behavior that exists behind virtually every GameStop counter, exists here too. They frown upon doing any extra legwork themselves and they expect to be paid as employees on top of it. They've also become the "Quick Oil Changes" of the industry, upselling you at every turn or blatantly lying to your face. You're better off just using Amazon or BestBuy. read more

The Manager & employees at this store are great! They are professional, courteous and knowledgeable about their products. The items we want may not always be available, but the employees ALWAYS go out of their way to get those items for you. *The only downside is....we miss STEVE.* :( read more

If I could this store a 0 I would. I went into the store to purchase Doom for Xbox One. The guy behind the counter said he had a pre-owned one for $47. I said ok. However, when he grabbed the case from the shelf the case was tagged $31.99. He rips the tag off the case and says he saw it first so he doesn't have to sell it to me for that price. I explained to him that we both saw it so he has to sell it at that price. He then walks over to the opposite garbage can and pretends to look for the sticker. I explained to him what he was doing was wrong. He said that the tag said $36. Not wanting to argue any further, I walked out of the store and purchased the game at Bestbuy in Monroe. Stay away from this GameStop. read more

The store and mall in general were super dirty and obviously they have no dress code policy on looking professional. The girl was covered in hickeys and a slimy salesperson. What a trash hole. read more

GameStop is not a terrible store, and sometimes the deals on pre-owned games are good, but when you try to sell a game or console, it's a complete nightmare. I can barely remember the last time I went to this particular location, but I do remember some details. I wanted to sell my old Wii-u games because I don't play Wii-U anymore and I knew that they accepted those types of games. In total I wanted to sell 6 or 7 games to spend on my Xbox One. 6 or 7 games is a lot of money, considering the fact that they were 60 bucks a piece and they were in mint condition. 60 times 7 is $420 dollars. I remember walking out with almost 47 dollars. Now I'm not trying to sound like an ungrateful prick, but 47 dollars is not even 10% of what I should have gotten close to. I would have been fine with 100 or even 200 dollars. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody trying to make a buck off of selling video games, especially if they are 2+ years old. read more

Ok, so the other review can be taken as a joke. anyone that buys games knows that if a game comes out, it takes time to decrease in cost because that's how the gaming corporations have it set up. In my experience, it hasn't been a bad store, i've been going for years. the only issue i have is that with few excepts in the staff, I don't feel like they know what they are selling besides "this is a retail job, buy the stuff." Overall, not a bad shop, just don't go in expecting to get a lot of money for what you trade in (like with all gamestops) and don't go in expecting to get a great recommendation from some of the staff. read more
