This is a good place to go if you're a gamer or looking to by a present for one. From Nintendo to Xbox, this place has assorted games to choose from. Located in Pearlridge Uptown on the 2nd floor, it is located by Bath and Body Works and Children's Place.

I was just checking out new places and popped in Game Stop. I haven't played video games in a long time, so I thought I'd pop on to see what they have. I didn't really see a large selection of gaming consoles, but they had a fair amount of games. I see that they buy used gaming consoles and games, so don't throw away your old equipment. It might be worth something. They refurbish and rebox the used ones and sell them in the store. I did see a good selection of Funko Pops, so if that's what you're in to, check them out. I didn't get inspired enough to get back into gaming, but I did see a bunch of kids excited to be there.

Hubby likes coming here to buy his Nintendo switch games. We have purchased games here before. Sometimes they have items on clearance. Today, it seemed as if they didn't have too much. I did see a Hello Kitty item but it was $14.99. Not sure if I would buy it at that price but it was cute. The store was clean and seems like a lot of people come here to check out their items. We didn't buy anything from here but maybe next time. Located inside the mall. I think the limit is 10 people inside. Plenty of space to move around. We come here when hubby is looking for something in particular.

With mom and pops hobby shops falling victim to the state of things due to the pandemic, a lot of us toy collectors and game enthusiasts are getting really limited in where we can go. Luckily for us, GameStop has always been one of the foremost authorities when it came to video game sales from back when it was Software Etc. But it also has figured out the niche market of toy collecting and has now given collectors a way out of toy hunting to find the figure they so desire by offering the ability to pre-order. With so much information at your fingertips nowadays, there's seldom a toy release that happens that you didn't know about prior. If it's something that you treasure that much that you want to make a financial commitment to it (albeit, it is usually just $5 to lock your item in) then you no longer have to wonder if you'll ever find the figure you want or have to worry about being scalped by these crazy reseller prices. Most GameStops have done an amazing job of adjusting their layouts to allow for more space in their stores so guests have their due six feet. They also control capacities to eight at a time for now, which again, allows for the safe distance. I can't remember when it started but it was a few years back now, but I really feel like they've done their best to focus on the guest experience. The customer service (more times than not) is great to exceptional, and if they don't have something in stock at their site, they do their best to see if any other shops on the island might have what you're looking for. I will say that the biggest knock is that things are slightly pricier at GameStop (Star Wars Black Series retail: $19.99 at GameStop is $22.99) but given all of the other high points, the 3 point mark up is understandable and a small price to pay for dependability and also, the spontaneity of actually finding your piece "in the wild"! All in all, I am a regular GameStop visitor. I rarely get to go to the one at Pearl Ridge, but when I do they are more times than not, really, REALLY cordial, friendly and inviting. I love their staff, including the gentleman with the glasses! I feel so bad that I don't remember his name but the next time I go in, I'll just take a picture with him and post it on my Yelp check-in! A very good staff as is the majority of their staff. Whatever you guys are doing internally GameStop, keep it up! It is not going unnoticed and we, the collecting community, truly thank you.

He'll even participate and set up a booth at the conventions or expos if he can, like Kawaii Kon, Comic Con, Hawaii's Collector's Expo, and Collector Megalopolis (hosted in the Pearlridge Malls)! Talk about nostalgic! He has pretty much anything and everything you could think of if you're looking for old retro games and consoles! You name it, he's probably got it! We went there looking for a bunch of PS2 games last Saturday around lunchtime. I think we spent almost a whole hour at his tent just finding a whole bunch of games! He's kind and thorough to check to make sure the games are in good playable condition and makes sure the controllers and consoles work too! He even gets Japanese games in every now and then (he sometimes has the consoles too like the Nintendo DSi)! I found me a nice rare Japanese game that I never thought I would get here in Hawaii (since not too many people know of it)! I thought I would have to get it in Japan again. It really depends on what he gets. He'll post on his Instagram whenever he gets new stuff in and they go quickly so follow him @retromax_hawaii to get the latest updates! He's really great at responding to messages too! Super nice guy! He just got a whole container of stuff while we were shopping at his tent at the swap meet and he was kind enough to let us look through them when they just got there! Go check him out! If you can't find what you're looking for at BOOKOFF, ECOTOWN, IDEAS, BOOKS & MUSIC, or even GAMESTOP, you'll probably find what you're looking for here! It's totally worth the visit!

Just like their Pearlridge location, this location sells an assortment of used and maybe even some hidden new books, movies, cds, toys, etc. Some of them have very good value/cost, but just remember to always double check your prices (I once found two copies of the same dvd, one was $5 the other was $7). The service is also very good here, their employees are nice and they handle their buyback program very efficiently. Just be advised that they pretty much give pennies on the dollar, so you might not make much money here. But it's good if you just want to purge some stuff and if you're in the area.

Bookoff Pearlridge... what can I say? Cheap books, cheap movies, cheap games, and cheap whatever…read moreelse they sell lol. Sadly we don't have many bookstores on the island, there is of course Barnes and Noble, Bookoff, bookends, and few other stores. After Borders closed, we don't have many places to go to buy brand new books except for Walmart or Target. However, there are many good finds here and a chance to give some used books/media/toys a new home. The staff here are very nice, though of course they don't have a system catalog here. But that's part of the fun, the treasure hunting fun. You never know what you may find. Bookoff also has a buyback counter, where you can sell your used movies, books, etc. but just be aware they are like the old saying where they only offer pennies on the dollar. So you won't make a lot of money selling here. But if you just want to get rid of stuff and make some money, this may be a good option for you.

The owner greeted me right away with that warm, aloha spirit energy. No attitude, no long drawn-out process. She got straight to scanning my old dusty books while I waited, and when she was done, she texted me -- yes, texted me -- to let me know. Walked up, got my receipt, got my quote. Super professional, super smooth. Here's the best part: while I was waiting, I browsed around and found three gifts for my grandchildren that I knew they'd love. So in one trip I freed up a ton of space at home from books that had been taking up way too much room and knocked out some gift shopping. Win-win-win! The whole setup is easy too -- rolled the carts right from my car into the store, no stress. My friend was chillin' in the massage chair outside the whole time, so nobody's time was wasted. I was originally just gonna dump everything at Goodwill. So glad I didn't. I'm already planning to come back with my old DVDs and CDs just sitting my shed in the backyard. If you've got stuff collecting dust at home, bring it here first. You might walk out with cash in your pocket and a smile on your face. Highly recommend. 5/5, no question!
