I went to Games Plus for the first time and was completely put off by the employee (if I recall correctly it was a heavy-set guy with a beanie and glasses). I entered and it's just one other customer in the store and wasn't greeted or acknowledged but the employee was paying a lot of attention to his hot wings (fine, eat but not just out in the open with a bunch of video games around). The other customer asks a question about selling a couple of games and the employee just tells him that he can't give him a set price that he would pay but not to bother because the money he would receive would just go into his gas tank. Someone called the store trying to see how much he could make from selling a couple of games also, employee answer and tells the guy on the phone the same thing he said to the other customer but starts yelling at the customer and telling him that he needs to pay attention and hangs up on him. A guy comes in trying to fix his Dreamcast because it didn't work, he had a warranty with the store, the employee tells him that he can't do it because he is the only one in the store and he doesn't know how to put the customer in the system. He told the customer to come back in a week or to leave the Dreamcast there and he'll put him in when the manager comes back in 3 days. The guy ended up leaving. Even though there was a pretty good selection and the prices are a bit high for some games I really doubt I'm coming back here, I'd rather buy online. Hello, my name is Terry. Im posting here today to tell of my own personal close encounter with this ... this.."Twilight Zone".... I have been coming to Gamesplus, since 1998. After today, Ill never ever go again. Their gaming selection is amazing at times. But their price, horrible customer service and downright disrespectful employees are something of well, I should say almost pure evil. Me and my girlfriend went to games plus with high hopes on over 30 Super Nintendo games, looking to sell. I myself knew of their horrid customer service and cheap trade in price, but this, this was uncanny. I brought the games in, with a smile and laid them on the counter in front of the employee (the skinny white boy with glasses kinda looks like the adult version of the kid from the brave little toaster if you know who that is) anyway, he immediately cut me off when i said "I think i have an account here I have traded in befor- *cut off* "don't get ahead of your self, after everything i said and done, THEN we will look for an account. I was immediately ticked off at this moment, because this man clearly disrespected me by cutting me off, in front of my girl. i swallowed my pride and continued, the man then told us to wait, and we agreed. so we waited. and waited. and waited. (i really think he was trying to get us to leave!) so, after about 30mn of waiting, he approaches the counter with a big smile "ok let's see what we can give for these it will be about 20 more mn because its alot of games. I agreed. after ringing up about 35 SNES games, and 5 blurays (two box sets, even star wars) he says 45.00. I flinched at his angry expression and agreed that it would be fine and said we would look around, me and my girl talk behind the shelves, by the SNES games. "i think it's a total rip off honey" is what she told me so i listen to my girl and asked the man if we could get anymore for these games, pleading that some of them he had on the shelf already priced over 50.00. he got angry and told me these are all set prices and he has a bunch of copys of the game (what does that even mean!? the game will still sell eventually!) then I ask if i can know how much i was getting for each game, he said NO, the prices are secret prices that he "got from confidential prices and research and that they have research prices that are confidential". (wait, what?) and they can't be revealed. (he was very rude in this) then my girl tells me to keep the games that are most rare, so we ask to remove some games from the trade, he gets very rude and try's his best to convince us that if we do that we would get little to nothing. still in shock of all this, we removed the games, after 7 or 8 games from the original 35, he tells us that it wont be much and i said "well, how much do i get for these blu rays?" he snaps saying that he couldn't get much or them (indina jones,Star wars etc!) and then I continue to say that it's top brand product, and he get's upset and says " you know what guys, im gonna pass on the blu rays" so now the price of the trade in is even dimmer. I knew what was coming but my girl really really wanted donkey kong country 2, it was 19.95 for just the cartridge and i knew better, but i wanted to get it for her. if the trade in price for over 10 games was enough to buy it, i was gonna. but wait. there is always room for more disappointment, he tells me "yeah fellas we can give 18.00" i immediately said no thanks an asked for my games, the man got very very very upset (he knew he just lost a heck of a deal!) and we left moral of the story? THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. REPORTING TO THE BBB TODAY. THE PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS, THE EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL AND ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A CHANCE TO RIP YOU OFF! AVOID! AVOID! Your more likely to get cheated rather than a good deal out of this company. During the holidays they hide the cost of the products in bundle packages for video game systems and actually charge you more in the process. If you add the price up altogether with everything that comes in the package you'll notice that the final price is actually higher on the package than what everything normally cost sold separately. They do this during the holidays and when a video game system becomes difficult to find. They refuse to separate the bundle and sell the systems separately as well. They love to take advantage of customers! A lot of times when you trade or sell things to them they will price you in a bulk set rather than give you individual prices for each item as well. A lot of times they do this to try and get away with buying your items at a much cheaper price rather than what it is really worth. Their pricing system is flawed and designed to work solely for the business and not to be fair to the business and the customer at the same time. BUYERS and SELLERS BEWARE! They also have a tendency to sell old flawed game accessories (still new in the package) that their distributers sell to them out of their warehouse. These are things such as third party controllers that the distributer could not get rid of or return to the manufacturer and rather than writing them off they auction them off to small businesses such as Games Plus (Which by the way carries a lot of them). You would do better to go to Game Stop or Game Exchange! This is especially a lot coming from me considering that I do not like Game Stop, but I will shop there before I'll shop at Games Plus. read more

Rereading this review has upset me again. They act like its a policy that they cant leave from behind the counter at all. Folks, I am not kidding. Been here many times and if you ever go here you will see what I am talking about. In each section it would take no more that 1-2 minutes IF THAT to find a game. They have lots of games but the sections are not huge. I actually contacted the BBB about the customer service here. Great selection, lots of games, Over priced, piss poor customer service. And I actually talked to someone yesterday who couldnt believe my experiences here and they agreed that when they have been the guys who work here can be sarcastic and rude to your face in a slick way in your face like dude, grow up. And its not young men who work here is GROWN MEN lol like ok....??? And if they are not rude to your face they just dont care like not friendly at all just stickly about the job. I've unintentionally developed a pretty extensive collection of vintage Nintendo systems (thanks, impulse buys and Craigslist!), so I've been in here quite a few times. I've never seen another place quite like it. They have an absolutely remarkable selection of games for all platforms, but for the Nintendo systems in particular - whether I'm looking for NES, Game Boy, Super Nintendo, or N64 games, I always find something good here. I don't remember video game stores having this good of a selection in the 90s, let alone nowadays. It's that good. Their selection of old-school games is rivaled only by their selection of hardware - they have every controller, adapter, etc. you can imagine. Remember the Super Scope? I saw several of them last time I was here. There's only a handful of them on eBay. EBAY, people. I also had my NES overhauled here, and couldn't be happier with it. I've had it for about a decade - so, yes, it was old even when I first got it - and it actually works better now after it's been serviced than it did then. I can't think of anywhere else I could have gone to. I almost docked a star for their prices, which are a bit on the high side. Don't get me wrong - you can find plenty of games there in the $5-$10 range, if you find some change in your couch and want to try something new. But some are far higher, and I don't always see why. They have one game listed in the $40 range, for example, that goes for less than $10 on eBay, including shipping. And beware the games that have collector's value, as well - some of them will set you back more than they would have when they were new. For the most part, however, prices are generally in line with a good-quality example from eBay when you factor in the shipping cost and the fact that you have to wait for it to come in the mail, which really takes a lot of the fun out of it. If I come here, it means that I have a few bucks to burn and I want to waste a Saturday afternoon like it was 1996. I don't want to have to wait. If you ever feel the same way, then this is your kind of place. read more
