I've been a loyal customer at game world for about a year. I've had alright experiences there but my last two visits there were awful. I was trading in about 10 games for in store credit and it took the man working there a half an hour just to do so. The scanner wasn't working so the worker had to type in the codes on the fine print of each of the games. He was suppose to put me on the waiting list for a game I wanted that they were out of stock of. however he forgot to. The next and most likely last time I'm ever coming there a different young male employee who acted very unprofessional and said bizarre things that didn't make any sense. When I simply stated that the last time I was there they forgot to put me on a waiting list the male employee acted like a smart ass and said "Oh to bad to was a hate crime." And he giggled several times under his breath. He made me VERY uncomfortable. I don't know what he was inferring by "hate crime." I was the only female in the store. I felt his comments towards me were sexist. He acted like he didn't want to help me he sighed and said "well I have to do my job." This worker has one of his friends doing 50% of his job and posing as an employee. I have two witnesses that witnessed this happen. I'm ready to contact the BBB. If I could give this place negative stars I would. My boyfriend and I went in to buy an Xbox game. First they tried to sell us the game in an incorrect platform. Then during the sale she stopped 2 times to talk with a co-worker. The second time she was holding my change in her hands and proceeded to talk to the other co-worker. My boyfriend asked "Can I please get my change, I need to go." And she EXPLODED! Her attitude was completely unprofessional, yelling at us and ultimately THROWS the change at my boyfriend. This store has everything and anything you could ever think of in the gaming world, hence the name. I couldn't afford a new game system for the kids and wanted something they could still have fun playing. Found what I wanted plus a ton of games and still had money left over. After writing my initial review here, one of the managers emailed me personally and apologized for the poor experience I had. I have tons of respect for him because of that. It got me to go back to Game World a few more times. Their service was MUCH better on return visits. Still not the quickest, but they were far more atentive than before. My only gripe is that their prices for used games are a little too steep for my taste. However, their selection of games is unmatched. Anytime I want a tough-to-find game for my SNES, I know i can turn here. read more

Had to go back 3 times for 1 item because they sold me 2 headsets that were broken and did not work. Once i returned and gave them the broken, (formally used) headset and they put it right back on the shelf! For somebody else to get skrewed! Also, the employees working there were new, and took a long time. It took 30 minutes every time I went there. Anyways, I bought 2 headsets USED that were broken for 15 bucks, they didnt work. So I had to go back a 3rd time and finally just bought an 80 dollar headset. NEW. And it worked. I know these are all good people at heart with a cool store but this was super unprofessionnal and kinda rude. One of their employees almost sold me a 60 dollar headset saying it was for the xbox one when it was for the PS4, they need to know there stuff a little more. Its hard to give it 2 stars. When I walked into the store, the employee behind the counter had a mask on but it was pulled down below his chin. I found the game I wanted and went up to the counter. The employee was busy inputting something into the computer and didn't even acknowledge my presence for at least 5 minutes. Finally he said he would be with me soon. He had to input someone's traded in equipment. I waited another 5 minutes and then told him I was a paying customer, and should be assisted. I am an old guy who uses a cane and standing on concrete for any length of time causes my hip to hurt. He said he was busy inputting the information into his computer and would get to me soon. Then added he could get someone to help me. My response was you should have done that 5 minutes ago. I put the game on the counter and turned towards the door. Again he said he could get someone to help me. My response was the same, you should have done that 5 minutes ago. I left without buying the game. So much for customer assistance. read more

I'll give this place two stars because it has literally every game you would want, but the prices on everything will burn a hole in your wallet, and I've experienced really slow service. It took one of the employee's about a half an hour to ring my buddy up at the counter. But it really depends on what you are buying. If you are just buying one game they usually are pretty fast, but if you are buying more than one item they'll take a while to ring you up. Another thing, they don't have prices on their games. You have to take them up to the counter and ask how much they cost.... Majora's Mask for the N64 costs $39.99 at Gameworld, and sells for $24.99 down the street at Trade A Game. I understand making a good buck, but you don't have to make it all off of me in one purchase. read more

Buyer Beware This store will charge you a restocking fee for ANY returns, even if you want to use in-store credit. A restocking fee to place a video game back on the shelf? This was a gift purchased before Christmas and we left town the day after. I couldn't get to the store to exchange or return it immediately. So now I lose money to return or exchange it. I will never shop here again. I've never heard of such a policy for an unopened product that can be readily resold. read more

Not to pumped on the place honestly. They should open up two lines one for trade in and one for people that are just buying a game so the person that's gonna just be in and out doesn't have to wait 40 minutes just for two people to get helped. Also just like any other trade in place you kinda get bent over on their pricing but that's pretty much to be expected on trading games in. Definitely an interesting store if you are into the video console and gaming scene. I do realize retail prices are generally higher in this market, but too high at these stores imo. Customer service is hit or miss. One employee in particular Brandon is very good but the rest are somewhat unfriendly or just disengaged. The real reason I am writing this review is based on the following event: I was in unloading a bunch of PC games for in store credit when I inquired about the price of a Gameboy handheld and they quoted it as $49.99. ( the reason for this was the 2 they had in stock had no price tag on them and I was looking to pick one up). Now mind you I had been to their North side store and seen it priced at $15.99, and was thinking I would pick up one they had at this location. To my surprise Matt the store owner/manager said the pricing was wrong and then called his store on the North side to tell them to fix and update the prices right in front of me at the sales counter. I was kind of shocked he did this in front of me and then I began to think of how I just helped him and his business out with the pricing issue but at the same time lost out on getting a Gameboy cheaper at the other store. When i was looking for a certain game i asked one employee who blatantly ignored me, and i asked another one who was at the desk for help.. he told me he was on his break but said he would help anyways with a EXASPERATED sigh, made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome. I have NEVER met a more rude bunch of employees. When you walk in they look at you like "why are you here?." The store is alright but not worth coming with how rude your employees are. read more
