I have decided to completely rewrite my review in order to clarify some things. To quote Mugatu: This whole ordeal "Makes me feel like I am taking crazy pills!" I want to be VERY CLEAR that this review and all my other reviews posted previously about this business are based on my experiences AS A CUSTOMER! and my husband's experiences at the three locations this store has had over the years. I will not be bullied into shutting up. The inability of the owner to understand that his business is not the perfect paragon of a "Gamers paradise" he has built up in his mind is alarming, because clearly "if we have ever really visited this store" we would be taken aback by the glory and unparalleled wonder of this establishment. To clarify some responses from the owner about my previous review: * I am a customer- or should say WAS. The aggressive nature of comments and responses from the business are abhorrent. The ineptitude of this business to understand the basics of good customer service cannot be properly told in words. You just cannot treat people this way and expect them to come running back into your arms. That is what I would call an abusive relationship. * The owner has misread my previous review and believes that I am talking about the price of DVDs -that was an analogy. My bad. From here on out I will no longer use analogies as they are apparently confusing. *As to the owner insulting my Yelp account and stating that I am not a real reviewer, Well that is BS in the highest degree, and "How Dare You Sir!" I have 31 reviews currently and I have been on Yelp since about April 2015-I even have more reviews than the owner of game quest does- I know this because the owner has left reviews for his business so we can all see his account ;) That's a real B slap of truth right there! Can I get an Amen?! Local gamers warned me not to go to this store...ever.. But I did. My 1st review was based on the fact that every time I drive past this store all I can think of are my sub par customer service experiences and the ineptitude of the owner to realize the flaws in his business that has made me never want to come back or recommend it to anyone. At this point I would rather just walk into GameStop and throw money at them.. $50s... $100s!! All day long! * Try as I might I have bought very little from the business- again not for lack of trying. Aside from poor selection and poor price. I simply refuse to spend my hard earned cash at a business that has poor customer service. On my visits to the stores *if* I was acknowledge at any point during my visit I would get that "Why the Hell are you here vibe", but at least I wasn't lumped in the " suspected criminal status category" * I have sold a few Xbox, PC, and GameCube games/ accessories here and there over the years in the middle of my naivety. On one such occasion (probably more, but just to be safe) a had 5-7 games that I was trying to sell and what was I offered? At most $9.00 - I want to say I was offered $1-$2 each (this is were the confusing $1 DVD fiasco came from on the businesses comments to my last review) so to be extremely understandable the point I am trying to make is that a majority of games in this store are overpriced-especially considering that a lot of the stock are not current titles. So when you are selling an item you expect to get paid a respectable amount but also allowing the owner to make a profit- not selling a game for $1 and having it put on the shelf for say $20. Also because I know it will come up- my games were not complete garbage- I had respectable and re-playable franchise titles. * My husband was also subjugated to the "are you trying to steal my collectibles deal" my husband was admiring the owners unique collection of Star Wars figures and the like- attempted to make conversation about them and was then treated like he was plotting a major heist. You know he used to be a decent person- until he took an arrow to the knee! Now he steals cheap action figures from local shop keeps. Geez - If you saw my husband you would be shocked because he is well dressed at almost all times in business-esque attire, well groomed, and if I must say so myself: absolutely pleasant and polite. *Lastly I don't care about buying DVDs from here, I don't care if they are $1. I have looked at them in times past (they were much more than $1- but times change?) I know within a few days I will just have some pre-written response from game quest slapped under my review. Well, my tale has been told. However your story is yet to be written. Take my sagely advice and remember "it's dangerous to go alone" and your greatest weapon in life is your mind! As for me I will never do business with this company again nor advise anyone else to do so. 2/10/2013 Today I called the owner of game quest after IROOT a local company failed me entirely on a warranty deal I got on my refurbished X-Box 360. Not only did he tell me to bring it in he also told me to bring in the discs I was having trouble with as well. He told me that it wasn't worth putting more time and money into but that he did do repairs on these console types all the time. We talked about what might be causing the problem and I decided to trust him and his professional opinion. Gamestop had already done me dirty as well anway. He said he could repair it if I wanted or do a cleaning but that it would probably take a few days because of the weather he was behind schedule. So I decided I should listen to him and left it with him so he could see what it was doing. I went to dinner with my girlfriend down the street at El Rodero. After dinner I came back to his shop and found he had completely taken apart my X-Box 360 and cleaned it. He replaced my fan, tightened my heatsinks down, and replaced the belt on my disc tray. He said as soon as he turned it on after I had left he heard a weird noise coming from the fan in the back and he immediately diagnosed the problem after taking my covers off my console. He found a rogue clip stuck one of my fans that had ruined the magnet that made the turbines turn and cool the heatsinks. I was absolutely astounded that he had done all this in so little time. I had after all only gone to dinner. When he told me he was only going to charge me $20 for the repair, cleaning, and disc repair I was in a state of shock. I told him that everything he had managed to do was more than I ever could have hoped for and that he didn't need to low ball me for such great work. I was willing to pay more and had even decided that if I couldn't fix my X-Box that I would buy a new one from his store. This local business man has been around for 15 years competing in Bend's local market and he has survived where others like Darkhorse gaming have been forced to close their doors forever. This man has forever earned my business for the things he did for me today. I highly recommend him and both his stores. I believe that if you meet him and listen to his advice with an open mind he will not fail you. He saved me over $150 dollars in repairs or replacements. Shop local people!!! The owner of Game Quest is refusing to honor a gift card my son received for his birthday. He's saying it's expired, but as you can see, it has his signature on it with the expiration date crossed out. We went in right after my son got this gift and Gabe didn't find anything he wanted that day (Game Quest rarely has much of a selection of games for the newer systems) so I asked him when it expired, since there was no date. He took the card and explained the law had changed in Oregon and it was no longer legal for Gift cards to expire so he crossed off the expiration part and signed it, assuring us it would never expire. We went in periodically since we got it in 2011, and never found anything gabe wanted. We finally did recently, but the owner refused to accept it, saying we shouldn't have waited so long. And he was EXTREMELY RUDE to us. A local business owner should be honest and fair with clients, especially kids. Reply to comment posted by owner: All I did was try to redeem a gift card you had said would never expire, and signed the back as a guarantee. When you refused to honor it, I left peaceably, after letting you know I would be taking it further. I did not call you or come back to your store. The police got "involved" because you needlessly called them after I had left without incident. Anyone can call the police and involve them about anything. I did nothing wrong and nothing that warranted police involvement. The officer let me know you had asked me not to call or come back, which is within your rights, which I will honor. I did not plan to call or come back anyway. He also informed me of my rights, which I plan to pursue. I just hope you will stop mistreating your customers. It's wrong and unethical and really sad when you mistreat children and others who may be unable to stand up for themselves. read more

I'm not sure who the lame ass people are who keep slamming this place but they are a sad bunch that are either lying or have nothing else better to do? I have been a customer of this store for years and have NEVER had a problem. The owner is straight forward and doesn't pull the salesman crap that most places do including GameStop. They have actually talked me out of spending money which I do appreciate and tells me that the owner cares more about having customers come back than making the quick buck. He's been around for 20 years so he must be doing something right? Owning a small business in this town must be a real challenge? Cheap people demanding service and wanting to save a buck must get grueling? The store sells mostly games and items under 20 bucks and I have witnessed first hand people trying to either pull crap or try to get a better price? What kind of jerk tries to haggle over a 10 dollar game? If you can't afford already reasonable prices then you shouldn't have a game system? The shop is clean and the mascot cat has been a fixture for years. I like the fact that everything they sell is warrantied so if there is a problem they either fix it or exchange whatever it is. Another reason why I like this shop is that they offer services that no other retail/game stores have like video game system repair and lots of old school game stuff. Also they do game Cd repair which has saved me $$$ over the years. My last purchase was a Playstation 4 in December which I got for a sweet deal. The owner even gave me a discount on some games. Many game stores have come and gone over the years and I hope that a few jerks don't make this one go away anytime soon. Thanks for all the deals and good service over the years. read more

I strongly recommend against buying from Game Quest and will not return. They sold me a blatant knockoff reproduction cartridge of Metro Fusion (Gameboy Advance) for $69.95. I realized the error and called the store to inquire about refund or exchange. Not only did they refuse to help, they became defensive and rude and hung up on me. They claim to have reviewed the cartridge for authenticity, but overlooked many obvious red flags. Most notably, the PCB should read "Nintendo" and instead reads "Nlhleyden." Simply inexcusable. read more

I have been a customer of the man who runs this shop since I was a little girl. I am seeing a lot of complaints about his people skills but I beg to differ, some people have certain ways of going about things and each time I have been there I have been pleased with the information he has given me and his deals are the best in town. I have always been polite to Shaun the store owner and he never ceases to say sick and twisted things. Today I came in and he asked me if I needed anything. I said no thank you. I needed help with my son's PS4, as it was having issues with a software upgrade. He looked at and fixed it within 24 ours and denied any payment, He said it was an easy fix and not enough effort to accept payment. I appreciate the honesty and generosity. it felt good to support a local company. read more

Not a fan of this place. Been in twice over the years and left both times not buying anything. Selection is below par. The costumer service is little to desire and lately there has been a lot of negative publicity regarding this place. Think I will stick to gamestop at old mill. read more
