This is a great shop. The employees are helpful, low-key, and more than willing to spend the extra time to help you get what you want. They have a huge selection of games, and also a pretty good comics array as well. Their inventory is pretty much suggested retail price. NEW *Lies about pricing of cards* Listen I get it, stores do need to make money to cover inventory. I run a small biz on online sales. Just recently moved here to check out the stores in the area to potential buy more inventory for my streams. I get to the Pokémon card section and look at the cards. In the cases the cards looked decently priced but when I asked the gentleman behind the counter I asked, " where are the higher end cards I'm curious what you have" Gentlemen replied, " they are probably out of your price range" ( first of all not a way to talk to customers) As I buy thousands of dollars of collections, I said bring it. He shows me a becket 9 Lugia V from silver tempest..... and says that card is going for $1700..... I gave him a second to realize what he said and asked him again because a becket 9 Lugia V Alt art goes for MAYBE 250-320... and I said, " oh are you sure cause I don't think that's correct" ( yes look up pricing before you buy folks ) I Gentlemen quick response " I can RECHECK pricing but it's going to take a bit of time" and walks away from me. Disrespectful. Tried to set up an appointment to get some very rare yugioh cards checked out and to possibly sell they don't even know how to schedule an appointment. Called in a day before to set an appointment for the next day. Told me everything was good. I show up the next day for them to tell me I never made an appointment and then they find it and already had another set up so they just dismissed me like I wasn't first only offering to look at my top 10 card.Wouldn't recommend coming here unless you want to be disappointed read more

Came in looking for a new coffee spot (Battlegrounds Coffee) and did not expect it to be inside a game store. Glad I stuck with it, inside was an awesome game shop, plenty of selections to choose from. Spoke with Ray, who was awesome and explained the community events that they hold. They have daily gatherings throughout the week for different games (D&D, Pokemon, Yugioh), and hold other events like mini-cons. Would definitely recommend checking this spot out! read more

In a nut shell, Game Haven is a phenomenal, local business and community. This store has just about everything a nerd could want. If you want to find people to play Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh with, every Saturday they have tournaments. You like magic cards, there is almost always someone in the store playing magic but every Friday they always have some magic event happening. You like painting figurines and playing war hammer, they have a section set up for you and every Monday is night where people come to paint there figurines. Outside of this they have a great cafe. They have your standard coffees but my favorite thing is they have a ever changing specialty drinks special that changes season to season or if their is a big nerdy event happening. On of my favorite drinks I had was when they made drinks inspired by and to celebrated "Detective Pikachu". The biggest item for me this store offers is their board games. They have a ton of demos you can play in the store and cafe or rent to take home. Every Tuesday night and Sunday their is a community that comes together to play some board games. If their is a game you want to play and not sure you want to buy it yet, come to these events. If you go often enough and I am sure someone will bring your game in and you will get to play it. For me, these events are like a midweek Christmas, always looking forward to them. As for their events, what I have said does not even scratch the surface. Game Have always seems to have something coming down the pipeline. They have Mini-Cons, Halloween events, psychic and fortune-telling events and so so much more. They support local vendors and artists and just as a ridiculously amazing community. Not to get to personal but Game Haven's community is very inviting and accepting. From their customers, to their employees, to the owner himself. I was very anti-social and depressed a few years ago but Game Havens community accepted me, and I have met some outstanding people and made some life long friendships. A lot of these events have been suspended due to the pandemic but once everything is over, I encourage you to come to this location if this is a community you want to be a part of. Come to one of the events, have a cup of coffee or tea, sit down and as long as you come with a positive outlook and are understanding and respectful, you will have a fun and outstanding time that you will not soon forget! read more

The staff are always friendly to a point that I have never felt uncomfortable, even being a rather shy and anxious female gamer in a hobby usually lacking in environments that feel welcoming. Came in to buy a $30 item that was on the shelf and they said someone had already bought it online. Super lame! If someone sends in the order for the product online, then take it off the shelf. I've been in here multiple times and it's always a surprise what they'll say at the register. "Oh this card went up $10 than our marked price" then don't mark a price on the card. In a day and age where it's almost impossible to get your hands on Pokemon Cards, it makes it even worse when when your local card shop is scalping customers. The Pokemon Celebrations Ultimate Premium Collection has an MSRP of $119, but Game Haven wants $320 after tax for the same product. This is super disappointing. I used to love this place. It has a game library that you can borrow from to play games before you buy them. What a fun game store! We came here from out of town and they had an awesome selection of games and fun atmosphere. Prices were a little higher than Amazon, but not crazy. They also do a cool thing where you can rent a game and try it out before you buy it. There is a rental fee, but they take that off the price of the game if you end up buying it. Problem with this store is the employees do not have the knowledge base about the products they are selling. They refuse to help you find games on the shelves as well. The store does not even open on the hours advertised. Employees are late to even do that. The selection of this store is good and the location is prime. Strong contender for the best board game store in the valley. Employees are always helpful, the game selection is great, and the in-store coffee shop is just icing on the cake. If you have friends or family who are board game novices, this is a great place to take them. Sold some MTG cards that I had professionally graded. Went to test their ability to grade the cards. They devalued the cards by a grade and cost me about $20 from Near Mint to Light Played. They didn't have an employee grade the cards. Just some other regular customer. Will not ever sale cards or anything to this store again. read more

Literally one of the best game stores I have ever been to in my life. The employees, environment and product are top notch. Lets start with the location it self it's very large and easy to find. There is lots of lighting and its very positive when you walk in the door. It's the first card shop I have ever been to with a coffee shop inside.. brilliant idea to the owners.. which by the way are very kind and willing to listen to any issue that may arise. The employees are always dressed wearing a polo with the companies name on it so I know who works there. There is tons of space for plenty of things to do and its also very clean. The bathrooms.. is something i'm very picky about.. They have 2... which are always clean to the 9's. I'm very impressed with knowledge of the staff of the games they are each experts at. They may not know every single game there but if they don't they have no problem getting you the information you need for that said game. The player basis of games from what I've experienced is quite pleasing, it can get load at times but hey it's gonna happen. I will come back to this store and all the other locations at any time. I feel safe at this store and have no problem stating best Game store in SLC period. read more
