Brought my Tudor 4200CN into Galvin because it wasnt running properly. I haven't been able to wear it reliably for over a year. He put it on the watch timegrapher, and it ran in every orientation. Opened the case, adjusted the timing a bit and got it running to ~ +/-3 sec/day. I'm not sure what was going on, but it's been keeping great time now for the past 24 hours. Galvin repaired two clocks for me that were family heirlooms while I waited. One was a French clock from the late 1800s and the other was a cuckoo clock from Europe. He made a key for my French clock and replaced one of the missing weights and pendulum for my cuckoo clock. Does the job quickly and very nice guy. I came here to get my new watch new holes and to fix my old watch if possible. My new watch got 3 new holes and we paid 15 bucks. My old watch turned on for the first 20 minute and died again... We tried going to the mall to change battery and we changed the battery ourselves but it kept dying. Gavin said there's probably something going on inside, so he changed the battery and shocked the heart of the watch (for free!). Worked for like 20 minutes and died again. Galvin was really helpful once when I walked into his shop. I want to first of all mention that the small shop had all these different clocks on the wall and the ambience felt really personal. He has a lot of Bible verses posted along the wall and even a pile of Bibles he has free for customers. It helped sparked a really nice conversation.  I came in with a clock that had fallen off the wall. He said he could immediately fix it by replacing the battery and adding new hands to the clock. He was quick, patient with me when I realized I didn't have enough cash (I had to go find an ATM) and even offered me a fresh new battery to take with me for the clock.  Excellent and caring service. He is my tip top, tick tock, clock doc. I bought a clock on ebay, the seller said everything worked. When it arrived, it would not chime...I love the sound of a chiming clock. This was to replace the clock which had been on my in-laws mantle...but this ebay clock would not chime. First I went to a clock shop on Allen in Pasadena. The man said the clock needed to be cleaned (which it most likely does) he said that would be $200. When I declined he offered to lower it to$160. Still not what I wanted. So I thought...there must be somewhere else. So, thanks to YELP I saw Galvin,s in San Gabriel. I walked in with my sad, non chiming, clock. Galvin was already helping someone else but I waited and it was worth the wait. This is where "ymmv" (your mileage may vary) comes in. Galvin took a look at my clock and in less than 10 minutes had it working. He fixed it with a chopstick, then tuned the sound of the chimes. He asked me for $10. About 7 months prior to the Covid 19 Pandemic, I bought a brand new Burberry watch that needed to be resized to fit my wrist. It was hard for me to find a place to remove the links on the watch since the governor ordered the majority of non-essential businesses to close. I pretty much forgot I had the watch until today and found Galvin's shop on Yelp. I was immediately greeted by Galvin upon arrival and he was able to help me with my watch. The links on my watch are not very typical (bracelet style) so I could tell that it was more complicated to work with than many other watches. Galvin was very professional with his work and made extreme efforts to not damage my watch in any way! After removing the links, I asked Galvin to help me set my watch because I had a suspicion that the batteries may not be working since I had kept it stored away for so long. Luckily I was at the right place and got a new set of batteries for a great deal.
