I had them complete a Pre purchase inspection on a BMW. Very responsive and accommodating on short notice over a holiday weekend. Fantastic customer service. Highly detailed report along with quotes for the services that would and possibly be needed down the road on the vehicle. Knowledgeable staff, courteous and thorough. Very reasonable pricing. 10/10 will use them again. read more

They know their stuff. Yeah it's expensive, but all work on a foreign autos is! They're honest and thorough - Shinee is simply the best

Had a "Ghost in the machine" with my Audi A3 TDI, Gerties figured it out, repaired the problem and stayed in contact with me through the process. There were no surprises, only stellar service and lots of information- I highly recommend this shop! read more

I was looking for a peninsula shop that can perform maintenance on my Audi. I gave Gertie's a try and was very happy with the detailed vehicle inspection and maintenance performed. The inspection report is detailed enough for me to determine the maintenance I can do on my own and what I'll need the shop to do. Communication with the shop before, during, and after work performed was excellent. read more

Dishonest predatory shop. This is the kind of place that gives mechanics a bad name. Shop rate is $295/ hour everyone else in town is around $200/ hour. They charge a diagnostic fee of close to $200 which they do NOT apply towards repairs. This shop isn't busy because they are expensive difficult to work with and only interested in their bottom line. Asked them to work on our VW, told them what I wanted done and why it was needed. They insisted on a diagnostic procedure and recommended a laundry list of other additional work (including windshield treatment) and drained the coolant (to diagnose the issue that I had already told them needed fixed). They estimated almost $2000 for the repair and said they would not guarantee the work. When I asked them to put my car back together (like it was when I brought it in) they refused and insisted I either have my car towed or pay the full exorbitant repair cost. Horrible expensive experience that did not end in them being any real help at all. Do not recommend. You have been warned. read more

Damian left my Range Rover outside overnight resulting in the theft of the Catalytic converter. I was promised he would take care of everything however Damian, while very courteous, was completely unhelpful. While Gertie's had care and custody of my vehicle they were completely negligent in it's care. It took 3 months to get the new part for my vehicle. Gertie's is NOT insured for loss nor do they do ANYTHING to help customers when something happens. In my research to locate a new local mechanic I uncovered several stories similar to this regarding Gertie's. This was not a single instance. Do not trust Damian. 100% do not recommend the business. read more

While the fees may be on the higher side, the quality of service and promptness is excellent. The establishment is impeccably clean, and the project specifications are thoroughly outlined. read more

When one needs the services of a mechanic, one tends to cringe and be apprehensive. Galloping Gertie Garage and Damian took that notion and flipped it on its head. To keep it short: -great communication -affordable -honest -efficient -does the right repairs -doesn't oversell -takes the time to explain what needs to be done and what can wait When things go wrong you want a "guy/gal" as your go to.... when my car goes bad/needs maintenance I now have my go to and that's Galloping Gerties Garage! read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. Damian (the owner and mechanic) was so accommodating and helpful when we broke down in Gig Harbor as we were just passing through. He was so friendly and put us all at ease in a very stressful situation. If you are in the area and need a mechanic go here... you won't regret it! read more

Damien has worked on both a Range Rover and Subaru for me. Both times the cars left his shop with a certain smooth ride you can only get from a happy car. Prior to owning these two cars I drove around a BMW and I was very particular in choosing a mechanic-I went to the same shop in Pasadena, CA for 8+ years, but if Damien's shop was around then I would have easily made that switch. I highly recommend taking your car in for an inspection yesterday. read more

I had Galloping Gertie do an alignment (their new alignment machine is really cool...) and a brake fluid flush on our 2010 Audi A6 Wagon. They are very knowledgeable and professional. They even performed a free Integrity Inspection which was nice to see the state of the vehicle at a glance and what items I may have missed -- since I do most of the maintenance myself. Highly recommended! read more

Great customer service. All questions, concerns and pricing addressed prior to "fixes" addressed. The shop is super clean and houses old beautiful cars and photo's to enjoy while you wait. I love to support local businesses so this was my first time in. I would highly recommend Damien to anyone that has a European car that needs attention. Thank you, Damian, for your superb customer service. Much appreciated! read more

Buyers beware. Took my BMW to this guy for an oil change. I was quoted $300 over the phone. After Damien, the owner inspected the car; he came up with over $5,000 in suggested repairs. His oil change somehow changed from $300 to $425. Damien also said I needed front brakes at over $2,000 and many other things. I said no and took my car to someone else who charged $210 for an oil change and said my front brakes were fine and did not need to be replaced, but if they did, it would be around $1,000, not $2,000. The new shop changed the Brake fluid and said everything else was fine. I left the new mechanics shop, spending $500 instead of $5,000. Damian called me a week later to see if I wanted to do the repairs; when I told him what I learned, he suddenly had customers standing before him and had to get off the phone quickly. They could care less what I had to say, as if this was a common theme for him. I told him I would finish what I had to say with this review, and his response was, "OK, DUDE." This is not a shop I would recommend to anyone, so I suggest being careful if you do go here. read more

Damien saved my bacon! Visiting family from out of town, & my Honda Accord decoded it wanted a new starter. Called Damien 10 minutes before closing time and he got me in first thing next day! Ran a complete check up, gave me a detailed rundown of work needed, and how urgent each item was. Gracefully completed the items I requested. No pressure and great work! Can't express how glad I am to have found GGG!! read more

What do you call an automotive shop that charges you $268 for "inspection" then says they can't work on your car because it's too "modified"? Galloping Gerties I guess. I called before I came in to verify they would work on a VW TDI diesel. Yes. I told them I had put new injector nozzels on it and did an EGR Delete to prevent the intake manifold from clogging again. Nothing said. I repeated my labors list when I brought it in. Nothing said. Damien called me later that day and said injector #3 was not working and they could not work on the car because of the mods. He also gave me info on the brakes, oil, shocks, etc. much like a free Midas Muffler safety inspection. I had sent a couple of emails wondering why they couldn't work on it after I told them(Damien) of the mods before they did the "inspection". Nothing said. So I picked the unrepaired car up and paid for the #3 injector diagnosis. ' read more

I've been coming to Damian and his team since I first bought a Land Rover back in 2018. I was not too familiar with the brand of car and Damian came recommended so I gave it a go and I have never been disappointed. Damian has kept my Rove in tip top shape and makes great recommendations for near-future servicing needs so I'm never surprised when I take it back in. He's also great at working with you and your budget, a big plus. Since experiencing the service and craftsmanship at the shop I only take my vehicles to Gertie's. Damian has worked on and shown tremendous expertise on all my vehicles; including anything from my old 2015 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid to my 2020 BMW M2 Competition. In fact, I will be giving him a call soon to schedule my next M2 service and also to give a look over at the Land Rover. If you're currently debating whether you should call or not...consider this a sign to call and schedule your appointment. Great team at Gertie's! read more

I don't know if it's Damian (the owner/mechanic) or if it's the way this town just IS, but holy cow, we have had truly the best service and experience with this place. Damian has literally driven us around Gig Harbor to take care of us. First, to the Tides to have drinks while we wait for the car diagnosis, then, ultimately to a hotel. THE NICEST DUDE I HAVE MET IN AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. read more
