I love good tasting quality clean food, which they serve. I do, though, need more budget friendly meals. When the price of a salad, there costs as much as me, feeding a family of three, i have to pause and prioritize. That said, though they have the best chef. I don't eat baked goods, but those who do love their baked goods as well. So definitely patronize them. I'll be back a few times a year, when they rotate their menu and there's something I really want. I just can't eat there once or twice a month like I used to. And it's really the the fact that they price themselves out of my range.

Out of the country, etc...But we never heard of Dahlia Cove. Only reason why I found this place was because of Yelp. All four of us were pleasantly surprised. You first walk in and they had an array of cute items for purchase. Of course I had to get a teapot necklace. It's a family owned business. The owner and her family were great hostess. Not to mention the food was wonderfully delicious. And we've been to some pretty nice afternoon tea places. This one was one of our faves. It's quite a drive, so it would have to be for special occasions. I would totally take my family here. I know my husband would even enjoy it. The decor was fun. We all loved it. Place was also clean. It was supposed to be gluten free bread with egg and cheese and veggies. When I got on the ferry I realized there were no veggies and the cheese was a different cheese than I ordered. Unfortunately since I didn't know then if maybe I got the wrong sandwich I did not eat it because I needed the gluten-free bread and I did not think this very awesome bread was gluten free. Or should I say it was not confident that it was since there were no veggies and I got the wrong cheese. Anyway I will be back and next time I will check my sandwich before I get on the ferry.

Consistently below expectations both with the caliber of their baked products and their flippant…read more"service"-- if you can call it that. First their baked goods are stodgy and not properly executed. Their shortbread tastes like cardboard and is nothing like English shortbread should be. No good butter in evidence here. Their koign amman is not even crisp on the outside. There is something off with each baked item. If you enjoy dump and go style baking that don't require any refinement but are full of American sugar, I think you will feel this is an elite bakery. Otherwise, this is a bad knock off attempt. Scones seem to be chewy and tasteless. I got a "lemon poppyseed" polenta cake where there was no lemon-y flavor at all! It was also heavy and couldn't handle more than 3 bites at a time. Stuck in the gullet. Second their service is appalling. The people behind the counter are all in on some inside ball game and customer service is not their emphasis. They are looking away while half-heartedly asking you what you would like, and more interested in serving up verbal repartees to their co-workers while distractedly trying to complete a sale. You can expect to repeat your order a few times. Then there's the off-handed use of bakery tissue which is not quite neat and hygienic. I mean it's a shambolic operation that gets away with it because there is no competition in Kingston unless you take the ferry across to Edmonds.
