I debated for a long time about giving a star rating or not. It should be understood that I was totally misled by the 5/5 rating on Facebook which lead to me choosing GG&T as contractor, only to learn the hard way of their false promises. So hopefully this will be helpful to future clients to make an informed decision and maybe have more realistic expectations.
After dealing with GG&T for 4 months I am completely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and organization. They were never on time, rarely showed up on the day they say would, didn't bring all tools and materials to get the work done and left a mess behind almost every time. I can't think of any step in the process that went without a hitch. I was given a 2 week time frame for the project and we are now in the 5th week and it finally got completed. It took a lot of patience, phone calls and text messages to try to get them moving forward.
The result looks good, quality of the granite work seems good (time will tell), but we have some damages to walls and scratches on the cabinets that we have to fix ourselves.
I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall when GG&T were 4 hours late for our initial consult at my house and then took 3 weeks to give me a verbal quote over the phone when I was pressing them for a number. Given what I know now, I would not use them again especially because I had 2 other quotes that were within $100 of GG&T's quote, for the same scope of work.
Things to work on:
Don't accept more work than you can handle. After being in business over 25 years you should be better able to plan out a new project and see it through. Be respectful of your customer's time and life, especially when you want to be respected as a quality contractor. Less chatting, more paying attention to detail. Take ownership not only for your good work, but also your flaws. Apologize when you and your crew mess up instead of blaming others or life. Life happens, you got paid so get the job done. And lastly don't hint again and again for a Christmas handout when you have already been paid and the job is not complete ... that's just tacky.
Word of advice for future clients:
Do not pay the final check until the job is 100% complete.
To end on a positive note, the whole crew is disarmingly friendly which makes it hard to give them a critical review. Please do keep that up! read more
