On Monday I spoke with Steven to discuss the situation, and he was very thorough and analytical as he listened to my story leading up to the car breakdown. The shop was able to repair the car Monday afternoon and I picked it up Tuesday morning. Considering we were in a bind and at their mercy, I feel that we were treated very fairly and not taken advantage of. He drove it over there himself to point it out but the guy at the inspection refused to acknowledge it and said if I brought it back again, he would fail it again if he didn't see new parts on there. Dave at Meineke suggested I just lose the inspection fee there and go somewhere else to get it inspected. He made me a deal. If it failed again, he would make the repair that was needed for free. That's how confident he was that the guy was wrong. Sure enough, he was right. It passed at the other inspection station. In a time where you just aren't sure that you're getting a fair and honest deal, this Meineke is a good place to go. They could have easily made several hundred dollars on me by replacing parts that didn't need replacing, but they didn't. I never hesitate to question their judgement.

The attitudes of the staff were amazing (contrary to my experience with Complete Automotive in Easthampton). When I received the invoice, they charged an additional $105 ($29.95/tire) for mounting and balancing, and $79.00 for the alignment. I called an asked them about this, and they condescendingly told me that I must have misunderstood the yes or no answer to my wholly unambiguous question. If they said that they misspoke, or took any small amount of responsibility at all, I would've been okay with it, but they bent over backwards to put all of the blame on me. This occurred after I decided to give them another chance, even though a few years earlier, they gave me an estimate for my exhaust and asserted that my muffler's flange was bad, but when I went to another shop, they showed me on the lift that this flange was completely intact. They do decent work but you cannot take them at their word when they quote you a price.
