She is so warm and caring, she not only cares deeply for her little patients, she cares for their parents, too. She understands the scary parts of raising children, and she has incredible bedside manner. I love dealing with people who love what they do, and it really shows in Dr. Samonte, and her daughter, Dr. Cat (or also, Dr. Samonte!) I trust both of these women with the most precious part of my life, my son, and so far (21 months later) they have given me no reason to let that trust falter. When they are closed, I've had to deal with other pediatricians affiliated with JFK hospital and it only made me appreciate these women and their staff of nurses and receptionists even more. Kindness goes a long way when you are talking to a parent who has been worried sick all night because their baby has a fever, this office seems to understand that- unfortunately not all other offices do! I've experienced nothing but professionalism and kindness from every individual in this office. The office is separated with a lobby and patient rooms reserved for well visits, and on the other side, the same accommodations but for sick visits. I'm a very passive person and really try to communicate through situations but Lisa is an absolute dread to deal with. The only thing this doctor's office is good for is vaccinations. They are a vaccination factory basically. Any real issues will not be addressed with these doctors. If you love your children which I imagine you do after reading this review, then do not take them to these doctors. They are nice at first but very incompetent and lazy and should not be trusted to care for children. I have already submitted a complaint to the state as well as the Governor's office.

The doctor called in the new prescription that day, so there was no reason to go other than the fact that the front desk lady told me it would be free. I come in the next day for the check-up. The doctor and the nurse ask me why I came. She was confused, but I explained the front desk lady said it was free. The doctor said I was healing fine, but that I needed the prescription (which I hadn't been able to take since my diagnosis). Then, after my insurance was charged, they barely covered anything! I sent in a message through the portal about why it wasn't free with my insurance like I was told. I received a message back saying that I shouldn't trust the front desk people to tell me how much I will be paying and, that because it was already submitted to the insurance, that they will not be reimbursing me. I will NOT be returning here again. If I cannot trust your staff's word, how can I trust your practice?

I've had asthma since I was 5 yrs old and I told them the asthma medicine I have. They didn't believe me, so they made me do a rigorous breathing test where they give you doses of a drug (metacholide) that will induce asthma symptoms causing your lung function to drop by at least 20% if you have it. I started choking for air. I couldn't breathe. I felt sudden panic because I could barely breathe and was scared I would die or pass out. It was horrible. There were tears in my eyes and the nurse knew I was in need of help so she gave the antidote, but she was not comforting at all. She didn't say a word. The antidote is a drug that makes you jittery so that plus the fear of almost dying from lack of oxygen left me feeling very distraught, dizzy, and emotional. I paid $1,000 for them to treat me like **** and give me a rigorous test that I didn't need and put me in a dangerous asthma attack all because they didn't believe my history of asthma. I left traumatized crying in fear/anger and I am not one to cry easily, especially in public. They were mean and unprofessional. I've never experienced this kind of cruel treatment. I felt like a lab rat getting tested on rather than a patient they care about. Don't believe the good reviews. The nurses are evil and the doctor doesn't want to hear what you have to say and will make you feel stupid. He will not thoroughly answer your questions at all. They threw the inhaler on the table and said this is what you should take, but they didn't tell me how often to take it or any helpful instructions like my other doctors have. They don't care about your health. Trust me, save your time and money and go somewhere where you are valued and given compassionate care. Don't go somewhere where they will make your symptoms worse and make you fear you'll need an ambulance. You want to leave feeling better not worse.

It also included a list of other centers that were clearly just some results of a quick Google search. The letter directed us to direct all of our questions or concerns to their "patient care coordinator" who was wholly un-equipped and uninformed to respond to our concerns. She provided nothing more than her marching orders & delivered a scripted response. It was clear that the abrupt cut to so many of their kids was a result of larger business & insurance issues that had been in proliferation for MONTHS & they must have thought the parents were either too stupid or blind to notice. Further, several requests were made to speak with the owners and each and every one was INTENTIONALLY IGNORED AND DISMISSED. We are parents who place our blind trust and care in the hands of others and a request for something as simple as communication should be a given. So, to be repeatedly denied the opportunity to be heard is an alarming red flag for this establishment & there is no reason to believe we will be the last to have the same experience. So Madams, please consider this your open letter - families like mine are fragile & vulnerable & this life is riddled with people who repeatedly let your children down. And even then, few are as low as to discard your child like Sunday night's trash so you can "just get out of it as quick as we can."
