I have been bringing my daughter to this practice for over 15 years and there is nowhere else I would trust with her care. She was first seen as a baby by Dr. Cammerman, who was like a member of the family to us. Then Dr. Cerasoli and now Dr. Alpert. Each physician has been nothing short of exceptional in their care of my daughter, who has special needs. The doctors are all very well trained and attentive to detail. My daughter has been thriving thanks to them. The doctors are always respectful of my input, and nurses and staff have always been so loving and caring. I wanted to like this place because it's very close to home, they are open on Saturdays and they offer nurse only visits for things like vaccinations, lab results, etc. However, the front office staff is extremely rude, condescending and inpatient. Those ladies are miserable and it shows! They clearly hate their jobs. They are rude in person and even worst on the phone! As far as the doctors, I can't speak on all the doctors since we only saw Dr. Beth Cohen. She's a very "matter-of-factly", no frills type of doctor. She is not warm at all. Im shocked she's a pediatrician as she was not kid-friendly. Needles to say both of my daughters disliked her. If you're going to work with children, specially young children, you need to be sweeter, more engaging and have more charisma. She's very dry and not very knowledgeable. This is for Dr Klein specifically who my family visited repeatedly for endo growth issues for my child. She knew we had concerns about growth, especially compared to siblings and relatives, even though our child technically fell within the very low normal range of growth. She was happy to have us 'check in' with her year after year, each time running very pricey (and I'm sure profitable) tests to 'monitor'. In all these visits, also while sending us regular marketing updates about her practice, did she ever advise us there was a critical period by which we needed to act. So we missed that period. We finally went to another specialist who advised us if we had started a year or two before we may have changed growth trajectory. When we confronted her, she blew us off. Do better, Dr Klein, do better. Do you really think families are visiting you year after year so you can run thousand dollar tests but do nothing to help their child?? read more

This is by far one of the Best Pediatricians in New York! And I'm sure one of the top in the United States. There are 6 doctors here. Dr. Ramon Murphy owns the practice. Dr John Larsen, Dr. Beth Cohen, Dr. Cammerman, Dr. Ivanya Alpert, Dr. Jennifer Cerasoli are the doctors on staff. Their combined knowledge and professionalism in the medical field for children is in surmountable. Some of the doctors have written medical books as well. Dr. Larsen saved my sons life a few years ago when he got a rare form of Selulites on his foot at camp. My husbands daughters from his former marriage also came here starting around 1989. They are affiliated with Mount Sinai Hospital and Dr. Murphy was previously also affiliated with Lenix Hill Hospital so when my daughter was born that morning he was the first doctor to come and examine her at my Request. I am so happy that my children are a part of this pediatric group and I would never trust anyone else with my children. They take just about all insurance all the rooms are clean orderly child friendly with books and learning toys the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Similar to a review below we scheduled a meet and greet with a Dr. Cammerman for a prenatal visit. When we arrived at the reception desk, they told us that there was charge $50 for the visit - they said that if we decided to move forward with Uptown Pediatrics the money would be credited. There was a bit of chaos when we got there and we waited about 45 min to see the doctor (which is understandable if its busy however nothing was communicated to us). When we did meet with Dr. Cammerman we really liked him. He is a Crain's Top Doctor and has great reviews... We liked his demeanor, approach and interaction.... However we were concerned that with this big chaotic office, our child would get lost in the shuffle and be at the mercy of the office staff. While Dr. Cammerman may be a great doctor, the office staff can have a huge impact on your experience. read more

Dr. Cammerman is an excellent physician. Not only do we feel that he practices evidence based medicine, he has wonderful bedside manner and we never felt rushed in any visit. Our daughter had a complicated history and he handled everything well, giving us reassurance without falsely saying everything is fine if it wasn't. We are genuinely sad that we have moved out of NYC and he cannot be our daughter's pediatrician for life. Yes, desk staff can leave something to be desired. Phone rings forever. I have had a good experience with the doctors here and have felt taken care of by our pediatrician, however, the office staff is not generally very friendly or helpful. As a working parent, quick and easy communication with the provider is an integral part of the experience, not to mention not feeling like you're burdening someone (receptionist) simply by walking in the door. My daughter sees Dr. De Souza and she is the best pediatrician! She is so warm and caring and makes going to the doctors office an enjoyable event. She never rushes your questions and always takes her time to make sure you understand everything. She always is so fun and goofy with the kids. She also really cares about her patients and you can tell this by how she interacts with the children and parents. She always tells me to email her whenever I have a question and I have done this many times and she always gets back to me immediately. And no Matter how silly my questions can be (which as an over protective mom they can be very silly), she always takes her time to answer them and never makes me feel uncomfortable, yet always validates me. During my daughters 15 month check up today, I had asked the doctor a question and we ended up getting distracted and forgot all about it. Anyways, tonight at 11pm I got an email from her answering my question. I didn't even email her to Follow up or anything. She remembered on her own. That's the type of amazing doctor Dr. De Souza is. Not only did she remember I asked her a question today, but went on her computer on her time off to send me an email answering my question (which even I forgot about). I really feel so blessed to have found her and I just can't imagine a better pediatrician out there. If anyone is looking for a pediatrician for their child, look no further! I recommend going to pediatrics of NY. This place is unprofessional. After sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours , I desired to ask the front personal if they put in my registration. Apparently they forgot. I left he office 4 hours later! I later asked for a referral to an eye doctor for my 6 yrs old and never received it . I just got a called from someone in the office in referral to a future appointment and I stressed all the issues I had with them in the past l and she answered "that's fine , Just call the during 9-5 and ask for the manager to complain... have a good day! This is now how a "children's place" should be behaving. I honestly switch to this pediatric because it's of walking distance from my house. Pediatric of NY is amazing and rather pay for a cab to go to them. read more

I still wonder why I come here? If it wasn't because of Convenience I don't think I would. The doctors are good. But they aren't the only good doctors in town. Just because a doctor is good does not mean we as paying customer , and concerned parents should have to take abuse from the front staff. Particularly the same person most of us here have complained about. She is BEYOND nasty and rude. Always pissed off and angry. And tries to make you feel stupid and embarrass you in front of other patients. Little does she know our co-payment and insurance reimbursement is what pays her salary! Always a long wait. Overbooking like crazy I guess. Every time we come in I swear I will change doctors because it's impossible to get an appointment and then they run 30-60 minutes late. Don't even bother to show up on time- just come an hour late and they will be ready to see your child. And we don't even get to see the same doctor because it would be months in advance to get an appointment. read more

My daughter was born a micro preemie. I've been coming here since she was born which is 8 years now. I never had a problem with the doctor's or staff. I've always been greeted with a smile & treated with respect. All the doctors my daughter seen here are the best. In the being of my daughter's life here doctor's was on call 24/7. Me being a 1st time mom I was calling them day & night. My calls were always answered. They answered all my questions & helped me with any problems I was having with my baby whether it was in their office or over the phone. I love this place & all the people who works here. Maybe it's because I have a newborn, but I've never had to wait. The doctor I see is good, she returns my calls immediately if I have any questions, but she's only part time. The nurses have been friendly and helpful. It's the administrative staff that have been horrible, snarky and unhelpful every time I have to interact with them. I've been a patient of uptown pediatrics since I was born 25 years ago. I've had only 2 doctors one of which is now retired. Today I had my final appointment before I turn 26 and get new insurance and such. This was the WORST experience I've ever had at a doctors office. Upon arrival the receptionist was rude, cold and disrespectful in informing me that my insurances was "inactive". This is simply because last week the nurses in NYC striked, which means my benefits were lost but now since the strike is over they have returned and maybe their system hasn't updated. I tried explaining this to the receptionist, who eventually got up and walked away brushing me off asking someone else "Can you help this guy?!" Eventually the manger who instead of offering support and trying to find a solution, basically told me I'm wasting their time, irritating them, and to just leave. I didn't even get to see my doctor Doctor Larsen who has been my doctor for the last 8 years. I feel extremely upset, violated, and disappointed that an institution I've been loyal to since birth would conduct themselves this way. After all this I asked the manager if I could just make an appointment for another day, she said yes but then happily informed me that I would be charged for this "service" of being billeted and put down at the doctor's office today. Ended up just walking out. I will be getting my last appointment before the end of the month but what a great way to end a quarter of a decade of being a patient at this office. The doctors and assistants at this office are fantastic, that's the extent of good service here from now on it seems. Tragic that I will not be sending my kids here. read more

I can only speak for Dr. Camerman. I think he's a good doctor. But it's really hard to keep going to this practice unless the staff is changed. Although my kids like him and we'd miss him. We won't miss the constant billing mistakes, the degrading attitudes, lack of respect, lack of privacy and HIPPA violations from the front staff. They make it a point to embarrass you & have you repeat your child's medical issues in front of everyone in the waiting room. I've have yet to take this to my lawyer. But I have considered especially when pushed by receptionist ( w/nose ring ) to have to explain my child's medical condition non stop for just suggesting to talk to the nurse. I have complained to manager , & doctor . And nothing has been done. It's been over 3 years and that same receptionist is there giving everyone a hard time. read more

I visited them last week for a prenatal visit. When I arrived at the reception desk, they said they charge $50 for the visit and asked me if I still want to see the doctor, only after I took a day off at work and cabbed uptown for 30+ blocks. They could have informed me about that fee when I made a reservation. Also, I've done couple of prenatal visits to other pediatrics, including different mout sainai affiliated ones, and never ever asked for such fee for speaking to a doctor for 10 min. Their prenatal visit was very informal and was not differentiated from other places at all. It was just talking to a doc for less than 10 min. I am just mad that they can bully patients so easily like that. Having that kind of policy and mindset, I doubt they really care about their patients' health and wellbeing. For that reason, I strongly recommend avoiding that place for future moms. read more

Dr Celasoli is a very good doctor, nice, thorough, to the point. She must have no idea what is going on at the front desk. They are the most horrible people I have ever encountered in an office. The African American girl with the bowl haircut bangs was so rude and nasty to me last year that I almost looked for a new practice. I do not know why I didn't switch because this year she topped herself and I will never go back. Everyone is there because their child is not feeling well. I was treated horribly by her again and when I sat down she spent the next half hour looking at me and snickering to her friend over and over. We have been coming here since I had my first born 14 years ago. I love the practice we were with another pediatrician for about 2 years because my company changed our insurance but the second we were able to come back we did. They have their own lab and you get results right away plus the minute the kids got back the nurses remembered them and their doctor too of course. We really like Dr. Carmmerman, he is really good with kids. I got used to him and the practice and it was really hard when we had to find another pediatrician. Everyone in the front desk is new but I wouldn't judge a practice with amazing doctors that try to make the place fun for the children and with magazines and important information for the parents and when you come in with a newborn they sit you in a separate waiting place so the baby is not exposed to all the germs. All I have to say if you don't like this practice just go and find yourself a new one instead of complaining about the people that really don't matter, you don't go there so the front desk can check your child or children but the amazing nurses and doctors waiting to check on your child. Also there's a I think she is Russian nurse that seems rude and mean but she is really not, it took me a little bit to realize that's how she is on the outside. Also they always have a doctor on call and on weekends and holidays they are open for a few hours to take in the emergencies and sick calls. I tried to find a practice with similar structure and didn't find one. read more

We see doctor Cammerman, who is a lovely and seemingly knowledgeable doctor, but offers very little guidance to new moms. As a first time mom I "don't know what I don't know" so I would appreciate him providing more advice. I.e. When to introduce water, how much milk a baby should be consuming based on their age, etc. I've gathered most of my information from friends who have acquired their knowledge from THEIR pediatricians who I've been told offer up the guidance. Also important to note that Dr. Cerasoli has terrible bedside manner. Aloof and seemingly annoyed by parents. I even caught her talking (negatively) about me under her breath to one of the nurses when I was leaving an exam room with my daughter. Incredibly unprofessional. read more

For many years I have been so upset with this practice. Dr. Cammerman decided to give my daughter booster shots and the flu vaccine which she had never received before. The shots almost left my daughter autistic. She had a severe neurological reaction that lasted two days and where she kept asking me to hold her because she felt she was leaving and her eyes glazed over and we had no response from her for minutes at a time. The practice never took responsibility and they just had us come in and keep her in a room for hours so they could observe her... I later found out the flu vaccine should be administered alone and never in conjunction with any other shots or medicine. Two days may not seem long, but when your child is is such distress it is endless. The staff was nicer than the doctors! Imagine that! read more

I switched to this practice a few years ago since traveling downtown for our pediatrician (who was fantastic) just did not make much sense. One of the doctor's there is pretty decent - the head doctor (Dr. Murphy) talks a good story about accepting insurance so that there is a balanced practice but he himself does not take insurance (ironic, isn't it?). The nurses are decent and pleasant to work with. The office staff there is beyond horrible - rude, unprofessional and they type of people who make you want to scream....they are that bad. It's gotten to the point where I am considering a new practice since it's just too painful. read more

I have 2 boys and with all their cuts and bruises, fevers and colds the doctors in this practice never disappoint. They helped and gave me complete directions on what to do with 2 real emergencies I had with my boys. Now isn't that what counts. read more

Wow. I don't know, I was astounded to see all of the negative comments regarding this practice. We've been coming here for 10 years and they're amazing. Every single dr we've seen (all of them) has been responsive and very knowledgeable. We've never encountered any rudeness at all. In the entire time my sons have been at this practice, we had one visit with a really long wait time and it so happened an emergency came in and required immediate attention. Everyone was apologetic for the long wait. There have been times I needed my son to be seen on an emergency basis and we were seen straight away. The kids are healthy and they love their dr. The nurses are excellent as well. The front office has always been courteous and their walk-in hours during the school year are also helpful. These Drs are top notch and their approach to my children has been nothing short of wonderful. These are born doctors, not made ones. I wish all of my Drs were this dedicated. read more
