This place treats children as if they are in a factory. Dr. Tsaur suggested I starve my infant and let him 'scream it out' at night to get used to it. The support staff are so awful and have a terrible entitled attitude, and are not helpful whatsoever. There is no warmth, except for Dr. Sarnoff. He is the only decent provider here. But they are all very textbook and treat your child as an average number rather than as an individual. read more

Love premier. I'm the type of person that prefers texting to a phone call. So I love Klara and I really get pretty fast responses. I love Dr Tsaur, Dr Weinberger, and Dr. Capiola. Staff is nice and I typically get seen pretty promptly. Check in questions are handled beforehand so no bottleneck at the counter. This is my first kid and I have so many questions and worries. The staff here always answers my concerns and requests for same day appts. Couldn't ask for a better office for this first time worrywart mom. read more

I used to be a patient here as a kid, and I'm posting now because even years after my insurance forced me to stop seeing Dr. Weinberger once I passed age 18 they STILL took my call and painlessly and quickly got me a copy of my old immunization records when I needed them for EMT school. And to be clear: my insurance was really was the only reason I stopped going to PP -- I maintain that Drs. Weinberger, Price, and the rest of the doctors who've seen me over the years at Premier Pediatrics both at their current office and when they were still on 18th street have been the best doctors I've ever seen. I used to get frequent strep as a kid, and around age 10 I remember Dr. Weinberger let me help him run the rapid strep test with him by putting the drops of solution into the container and swabbing my tonsil swab onto the testing surface. I'd say that was one of my standout coolest childhood memories, and definitely one that helped lead up to my getting into medicine. I'm proud to say that I'm starting paramedic school next week, and that I look forward to dropping by one day to tell him myself about that memory. read more

Would not recommend this place doctors come across as if they do not care about your child

The quality of the physicians is high when they are in the room, and the nursing & PA staff is great. Would be a 5/5 but for the following which is a dealbreaker for me. Administratively, this practice is a huge headache. It's so bad that I will be taking my child to another practice. Much of the medical profession operates in another world than the rest of us, but Premier take it to another level. Premier has an intake system called Phreesia that hassles you by text message multiple times before every single appointment. They ask you to fill out "checkin" forms which require you to enter information like name, address, DOB, guardian name, mother / father, insurance info, etc. before EVERY APPOINTMENT. They already have this on file but for some reason you have to deal with this before EVERY APPOINTMENT. They will also use this system to ask you questions about medications, how your child is feeling, what your child eats, if your child is walking or crawling, etc. So instead of asking those questions face to face during an appointment, and having a conversation like literally every other doctor in America, they outsource that to an app so they can churn through patients faster. It's extremely off-putting and I wish I were exaggerating but I literally had more interaction with the app about my child's crawling / walking / eating than with my child's physician. Plus, if you don't make it through the whole Phreesia workflow, all you work is lost and you'll get a text message during your workday, 5 hours before the appointment saying "failure to comply could result in your appointment being rescheduled" message. read more

My daughter's doctor and i have recommended them to all my friends. Dr Sarnoff is great with her and with us. He managed to pick up a hole in her heart that the cardiologist could not find to begin with. For that we are always grateful to Jon and his team. We've been coming to Premier Pediatrics since our oldest was born in 2016 and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. We usually see Dr. Deena but have also met with a number of the other physicians and they've all been great. The nursing staff is super friendly and helpful as well, and there's usually little to no wait. Contrary to some of the posts below, we have found them to be extremely accommodating. We were once accidentally scheduled for a sick visit in their Brooklyn office, and when we showed up in Manhattan one of the doctors stayed late to see us. We also needed a visit on Christmas Day, and they were able to set that up with no problems. They have a $20 / year fee for school and camp forms, but after you pay you can request forms as many times as needed. The turnaround is about a week and they will mail them to you or you can pick them up at the office. read more

My family has been to three or four other pediatric places in the area in the last ten years, just because of insurance changes. All have been competent, and all have been a bit of a mess. I'm happy to report that after my first time here because of yet another insurance change, this whole place is fantastic. From the front desk staff (friendly and efficient?!? In NYC?!?), to the nurses to Dr. Patel, I felt like my kids were in the hands of caring professionals. Specifically regarding Dr. Patel, she was no-nonsense and thorough, but great with the kids and made me feel like my questions were worthwhile and worth her time. These were well-visits, so I can't say what happens when the kids are actually sick, but I can say now that I am happy we found this place. read more

We are so happy with our choice in Premier that we changed our insurance so that we could continue taking our 6 month old there. Dr Barry Price has been AMAZING!!! He has been so caring and helpful to us as new parents and has made the dreaded doctors appointments so enjoyable. Marie, the lactation consultant is an ANGEL!! She saved me from giving up nursing as my first week was so tough and can't sing her praises enough. I do not recommend Premier Pediatrics because of terrible customer service in the billing department, which mistakenly applied my payment to the wrong date and then refused to address the issue, ignored my calls and emails and acted in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner. After interviewing many pediatricians we decided on Premier Pediatrics because of location and insurance reasons. Big mistake. We interviewed Dr. Sylvain Weinberger but for our appointments but we got a young overzealous Dr. Julie instead. It immediately felt like a bit of bait and switch. Long story short, we had a natural childbirth and are not a fan of medical interventions. We simply went to the office for a blood test and Dr. Julie expressed concern for our baby's jaundice. Understandably, we told her the baby was getting natural sun, has been going to the bathroom normally, weight loss was in acceptable range, and he was not lethargic. When asked if we could put him under the sun and feed him for an extra day, her response was "Sun and breast milk don't work". Dr. Julie demanded we go for a bilirubin test ASAP and when the results came in a tiny bit over threshold, she forced us to go to the hospital for light therapy. She would not allow us to get a second opinion and also threatened to call child services if we did not do as she demanded. That's right - Threats. Just what a new parent wants to hear. After our horrendous 26 hours stay at the hospital standing over our child to ensure he would not pull off his eye mask we went to Tribeca Pediatrics the day after to get our second opinion. We learned that the bilirubin scale is designed for Caucasian babies. Our baby is half Asian the score our baby had was acceptable. To summarize: We did not need light therapy intervention and the multiple blood draws that go along with it. So I got my second opinion, but it was too late and the damage to our mental state was done. A little about us - we are not granola eating or poorly educated parents. We went into parenthood by attending childbirth classes and reading dozens of books. We are also in the top 1% of income earners. We feel that Premier pediatrics practices "alarmist" medicine and follows the rules to the letter of the law in order to protect themselves first. While many pediatricians practice this way, we felt we especially got a raw deal by choosing them as our primary pediatrician. Do not choose this place for convenience reasons as we did, or you and your child will be prescribed unnecessary interventions with a side order of threats. read more

Have been going here for several years now, and we have never had a good experience with this office. They treat us like we're just another in a huge assembly line of kids to be seen and dismissed, and the office is unfriendly and often disorganized. Our child was misdiagnosed at least three times we've been here. The first time was when he was just a newborn and their bad advice landed us in the ER with a baby less than a week old. They are quick to dismiss your concerns, and several times, I have been correct to ignore their diagnosis and go with my instincts. One example -- we were recently told to give our son hot steam baths "for his congestion" when he was fighting a fever of over 105F and had barely a trickle from his nose. Is she crazy?!? In the middle of this hot weather? Any idiot would know to give lukewarm baths to bring down the fever -- the runny nose is trivial compared to a high fever for several days. Thank goodness I've had medical training or else the doctor's bad advice would have landed us in the ER yet again. One good things to note is that we have had consistently good visits with Dr. Blanchard -- she is calm, intelligent and articulate. She is efficient and caring, without being gushing or dismissive. She great also with our kid. We would definitely recommend her, if you have any choice in who you see. If we could find another decent pediatric practice in this area, we would not be going here. If Dr. Blanchard had her own practice, we'd go to her. read more

There is no separate sick/well rooms for children, which we were willing to forego so long as the quality of care and doctors was good. The reception was always an issue for us with every visit and scheduling. At times, they scheduled our appointments wrong, and when we came in for our visit, they didn't have us down and then told us they mistakenly scheduled us to visit their Brooklyn office instead. Other times, there would be computer issues and a very slow receptionist that made scheduling an appointment seem like a very labored process. When our baby came in for shots, a nurse administered the shots and left hurriedly without even telling us what shots were being administered, what possible side affects there might be, or any information. We had to track down a doctor in the practice later on to inquire. Dr. Price was friendly and knowledgeable - particularly on our very first visit to the practice. He would tell us that we were doing great things with our son, commend our newborn/infant for things he was noticing, and say that he didn't pay many parents the same compliments. But given the thin walls in the practice, upon our later visits, we would hear him make the same comments made to other parents. We also noticed how Dr. Price's demeanor with us changed over time. Though the first couple of visits w/ Dr. Price were good, in several subsequent visits, Dr. Price was very rushed, and at times, condescending and abrasive in his interactions with us. He still seems to be one of the more knowledgeable doctors in the practice, but his time spent with the patient is so hurried, that his patients don't benefit from his experience. Dr. Gallombardo also examined our baby on occasion. She was friendly, informative, and we didn't have any significant issues with her. Overall, the practice there seems very busy. It is small and cramped, and unfortunately, I think the tight quarters, booked schedules and certain personalities may affect the quality of care provided. We chose Premier Pediatrics after an initial consultation with Dr. Sarnoff and due to the close proximity to our home. We stayed with the practice and tested it out for almost a year, but in the end, it really wasn't for us. read more

My daughter had a fever of 101 and I contacted the office after hours and Dr. Price called back in perfect timing..But his bed side manners suck for him to be a children's doctor.If you don't care which he didn't seem to atleast pretend to save face. We had to go back 2x for a correct diagnosis on 3 different occasions. Each time we were sent home with "your daughter has a common cold" only to have to go back a week later (when they finally did an actual test) to find out she had strep throat 2 of the times and Pneumonia!! Once. Shame on them for their poor efforts and shame on me for not leaving earlier. It will never happen again. My daughter who is tough as nails suffered for 3 unnecessary weeks before correct diagnosis's. read more

We're very sad Dr. Laura has left since she was our primary but know my kids are in excellent hands regardless of which doctor is available to see them or speak to me if I call. To be clear, the one star is for the specific incident below, but does reinforce frustrations I've felt for 12 years with the administrative organization of this office. My son needed standard school forms filled out but we weren't able to see a physician until this Monday due to insurance restrictions. I made clear that I would need the forms ASAP or they would dismiss him from school. I phoned today to see if they were ready and was told they were. I altered my schedule to pick them up (I am a working parent) and when I checked the forms upon picking them up I saw that only one of three was filled out. The kind receptionist tried to have the dr sign them but I was told she would be unable to do this evening and to please return tomorrow. I can't do this due to work commitments. My son is now at risk of being removed from school. This is pure carelessness and they were completely unapologetic. I have been satisfied with the quality of care for the last 12 years but we will search for another practice going forward. read more

Since my children were born I have entrusted their health with Dr. Demetrios Markouizos at PHCQ in Astoria Queens. I could go somewhere closer to my home, but we do not because the personal care, satisfaction and respect with which Dr. Markouizos has always treated our family. We trust Dr. Markouizos and the other associates Dr. Chen and Dr. Chung and their attention to detail with regard to our kids. Also, they genuinely care for our children and always make everything comfortable and easy for us. read more

I have two older teens who have been patients since birth and I don't have enough good things to say about them. Dr. Weinberger has been their primary doctor, but we've had great treatment at sick visits from Drs. Sarnoff, Julie and Price. Dr. Sarnoff was particularly kind to one of my children with a miserable but not serious illness. I have never felt even remotely pressured to do anything. We've been offered choices that were explained thoroughly. Also, kudos to the nurses and to the office staff, who have nicely handled any number of last minute medical form requests (last minute by my fault) and scheduling sick and well visits. read more

The doctors, Price and Wineberger, have always been good, but the support staff is weak. I am constantly having hassles getting medical forms filled out. This time it has taken five calls and so far there have been 3 promises that I would have the form the next day, and so far i am still waiting. I tried to go there twice and was impossible. Staff is really rude and unfriendly. It seems that you are only annoying them. First time was last July, I was new in town and needed to do medical form for school. They told me that without vaccinations docs and insurance I couldn't have an appointment. I had provisional insurance card and without helping me to give them the informations needed told me that anyway first appointment would be September 28....really?!?!?! Call another paediatric studio and had my appointment in two minutes in a normal waiting list. They just told me to bring everything at the day. Second time last week. My daughter was sick with high fever and thought to try again since their office is really near where we live. First I sent all pictures of the documents (insurance, vaccination and medical form). Then they told me to wait for a call back after they checked the documents. After more than one hour I called back and they told me that "they are really busy and if it's so urgent I can go where I went for the medical form"....I know I'm just a drop in the ocean but that's not the way to treat client. Your clients are not forever because they grow up, you need a turn over at the end! read more

I could not disagree more with the parent who wrote that Premiere Pediatrics is "alarmist." This couldn't be further from the truth. I have found that the doctors in this practice are excellent--all of them. We were first introduced to the doctors in this practice on the floor of the hospital where I delivered, as they were doing their rounds. Their balanced advice and understanding approach really saved us when we were struggling with a newborn. Needless to say we chose them as our pediatricians. Dr. Sarnoff in particular is one of our favorites. These people really know children and they know what they are doing. They tend not to overreact, but at the same time they are sympathetic to the concerns of new parents. I trust them with my son, and would recommend them to anyone. It is too bad that we are moving and will have to leave this practice. read more

If you are not crazy (i.e. attended over a dozen childbirth classes and read 35 parenting books before having a kid - !!), Premier Pediatrics is a fabulous place. I've had several of the doctors, including Dr. Julie, and I find them all to be extremely competent, friendly and caring. I don't mind medical intervention, especially when my child's health is at stake. The Brooklyn office is spacious and clean, and my calls are always returned promptly, no matter how obscure or seemingly neurotic the question. I highly recommend Premier Pediatrics -- and Dr. Polizzi in particular. She's one of the newer docs there. Dr. Sarnoff is also great! read more

Dr. Price and Dr. Wienberger have been amazing over the last 5 years. Our daughter was premature and under 4 pounds. They were at the hospital every day to check in on her, they both called everyday too. After being sent home, they continued to call and check in to make sure everything was going well. I can't say enough about the caring nature of the doctors that call and come to your home so that you don't have to bring a little one out. Our daughter was very weak and sick for the first few months and the doctors made sure I felt comfortable bringing her in to them or they would just call to check in. After the critical months in the beginning. We started taking her to the office, they were always nice, and easy to get along with. After her second birthday, she got a high fever 104.3, so we called and they got her in right away. She had a UTI with urinary reflex, they sent her to a specialist. And since then have been on top of knowing every UTI and treatment, without me even calling. After a ER visit in PA, Dr. Price called me to make sure that everything was ok. The office staff is sometimes a little rough around the edges, however if you think about it most doctors office staff are over worked, under paid and running around without a spare moment. Other times they are pleasant and easy going, I called for immunization records and was faxed them in less than 5 minutes. As an RN, I wouldn't trust any other practice with my child's health at this point. I feel for the parents that have had bad moments with this practice. But think about all the parents who have great ones. It saddens my heart to see mainly bad reviews with this practice, other good reviews should be written as well. read more
