Dr Gidwani has been my pediatrician since the birth of my son, Quentin, 5 weeks ago. I seldom post reviews of any kind let alone for doctors. However I'm moved to do so after being consistently overwhelmed by the exceptional degree of care afforded us by Dr Gidwani, her nurse practitioner Alexa, the front desk and email support team. Countless emails I've sent - all replied to within minutes or hours, no matter the time of day or night. Four visits - all efficient and productive. But the love that Dr Gidwani and Alexa show my son in these appointments is what's most staggering. I couldn't recommend them more passionately. read more

I told this pediatrician over and over and over again that hip dysplasia runs in the family. She repeatedly assured me that this has nothing to do with my current baby. That having a family history doesn't increase the chances. Fast forward to an appointment with an actual orthopedic surgeon for my oldest: "Let's take a look at little sibling, just in case." Sure enough, my child DOES have hip dysplasia that went completely untreated for over a year. It is mild, which means that it could have been EASILY treated from infancy. But NO, I trusted Dr. Gidwani and ignored my instincts. Now my child is faced with possible surgery because she is well past the "easy fix" stage. SHAME on this doctor. A simple referral that had absolutely no impact on her existence could have saved us this horrible "surprise." Fight for yourselves because unless it puts money in the doctor's pocket, they couldn't care less. read more

During my pregnancy, we had met with a couple of pediatricians on the UWS, and while the others were closer to our home, we ultimately decided to go with Dr. Gidwani. It was absolutely the right decision. While other pediatricians we met with seemed to be of the camp of "whatever you want," Dr. Gidwani gave her direct opinion and had a stance on a number of important topics for us, which made us trust her a lot more. We didn't need a doctor to please us, as new parents, we needed a doctor that would guide us and hold an opinion on the wellbeing of our child, first and foremost. She was able to check in on us at the hospital within 24 hours of our son's birth, and checked in on us throughout our stay, helping us with some issues we were having and calmed down our concerns. As another poster mentioned, she is not an alarmist, which really appealed to us, and keeps us calm as new parents. However, she is also detailed during each visit, so we know we are in good hands. She really has a natural sensibility with babies and a warmth and kindness that can be felt. During the first few weeks of our son's birth when we had numerous questions, we would email her and hear back almost immediately, even at odd hours of the day/night. We trust Dr. Gidwani with our baby and can't recommend her highly enough. read more

We've been seeing Dr Gidwani for 8 years and have always trusted her assessment and appreciated her manner with our two kids. When she started offering a concierge membership service for families willing to pay $2000 for access to the doctor's cell number, priority care, and other perks, my stomach churned. As someone working in public health, isn't a system that I can get behind. We've decided to leave her practice and hope that she ditches this exclusive nonsense. read more

Very disappointed with this practice. The billing department is extremely disorganized. Be careful what they bill you for. Not only that, but the doctor was not paying attention and almost let my baby fall over, but the nurse caught her. Also, my baby is not one to cry, but cried when the doctor held her. read more

We love Dr. Gidwani and have been seeing her since our baby daughter was one day old. Dr. Gidwani is calm and kind with a non-alarmist attitude. That said, she also knows when to be serious. She's reachable by email (and, depending on the urgency of the issue, responds almost instantaneously), which was a huge plus for us. Dr. Gidwani does everything herself (weighing the baby, giving vaccines, etc.), so it's easy to develop a relationship with her and she really gets to know the baby. She was able to accommodate the vaccine schedule we preferred and since she's pro-breastfeeding, she was able to help us on that front also. Her office staff are super nice and very accommodating. We are sorry to leave the practice but we are moving away. If we are ever back to the city, we'll be seeing Dr. Gidwani again. read more

My daughter has been going to Dr Gidwani for almost 7 years. She is the perfect pediatrician. She is all a pediatrician should be. She is not an alarmist, that is most important. Dr. Gidwani takes her time and a crying baby does not scare her. She is calm and it's obvious that kids love her. My granddaughter was for the most part sick for the first 3 years and we ended up in the hospital once. All for good reason. She does not over prescribes and tells you nothing but the truth, not what the parents want to hear. As a grandparent and an involved one I would very much recommend her 100%. She will always call you right back or answer the phone herself. We all love her and will continue to go until we outgrow her practice. read more

We had a great experience with Dr. Gidwani for the past 1.5 years for our two kids. We are only leaving because we are moving neighborhoods. She always responds directly to emails and after-hours phone calls, (I have since learned that most practices have their nurses respond to a majority of the questions both during and outside business hours). She has always been supportive, friendly, and informative. I was shocked to read about other reviewers who had a bad experience. Everyone I know who has gone to Dr. Gidwani has nothing but positive things to say. She has a more relaxed approach that may not be a good fit for all parents, but I appreciated it and it ultimately made me a more relaxed and confident parent. We will miss her. read more

We were sent to Dr Gidwani when she was covering for our regular pediatrician. When we arrived her office staff could not have been less sensitive or less concerned with my son's condition. First they said they never do walk ins, then they tried to deter us by saying it would be a really long wait (despite the empty waiting room) and lastly they said they don't take our insurance. Angela the office manager seemed hellbent on sending us away. When I finally asked to speak with the doctor, I could not have been more appalled. Dr Gidwani proceeded to lecture me about insurance and again never asked (or empathized) about my son's illness. I know this is a business and not a charity. But, when you have a sick kid, you expect caregivers to actually care. Dr Gidwani and her staff do not seem to care about anything but administrative hassles and getting paid. read more

Dr. Sonia Gidwani is by far one of the most condescending and worst doctors I have ever visited. As a first time mom, it is natural to worry about your kids well-being especially if your newborn has fever and is unwell. I went to Dr. Gidwani because my regular doctor was away. It was easy to get an appointment. When I met the doctor, she was so so condescending and kept going on about how I was panicking, treating my anxiety instead of my kids. She also wouldn't believe that I had taken the correct temperature and kept saying that temperatures are different at different times of the day. I kept trying to get a word in that I took the temperature before leaving for her office, her response was that if I had to come see her why bother to take the temperature. Anyway, she went on and on and on, and didn't let me get a word in. I would have walked away then and there had I not been worried about my kids and had to put them first. Sonia was very condescending the entire time, she behaved as if she cared much more about our kids than us parents. Every single statement we made was put down by her as useless anxiety. She kept telling me not to make clinical judgement since I have none. I found her words and demeanor very insulting. As a new parent, it is important for the doctor to treat each patient with respect, and realize that the doctor is not a parent and cannot care about kids more than parents. I found Sonia's demeanor insulting and condescending, and felt that she loved the sound of her own voice and kept talking and talking and talking without letting us speak and explain why we were concerned about our kids. She also kept kissing my kids to show that she was so concerned about them while we were neglectful parents, a level of intimacy with them I didn't appreciate. I could not wait to complete my appointment and leave. When I ignored her words and focused on my kids, she turned to my husband and repeated herself over and over ad-nauseam. This is New York city, there are tons of good doctors, there is no need to go to one who treats patients with the utmost disrespect. read more

Dr. Gidwani is amazing!!! This practice is truly a rare find! From our first prenatal visit, I knew we were in the very best hands. Dr. Gidwani sat with us and answered ALL of our questions from soup to nuts and was truly interested in our views and concerns. She was extremely warm, super smart and just immediately put us at ease. In the hospital, she was wonderful with our newborn daughter. We were referred to Dr. G, by a number of people and now, a whole slew of us go to the practice. Every single one of us are SO pleased with the level of care and expertise. Now, over 1 year later, we could not be more pleased with Dr. G and her staff. Early on, our child was diagnosed with a pretty severe dairy allergy. During that time, Dr. G was insightful, patient and always quick to respond. We also had a few after hours emergencies when our child was a newborn and within minutes (I don't know how she does it) we had a response! Dr. G is super responsive via email (which is so incredibly helpful, I can't begin to tell you), she is ridiculously smart, warm, compassionate and really listens to the views and concerns of the parent. Dr. G. has never once made me feel inadequate or like any of my questions or concerns are too small or insignificant. She loves what she does and has been a Godsend to us this first year. Dr. Gidwani and Dr. Senkler are kind, non-judgmental, respectful and the kids absolutely adore them! The staff is also top notch. This practice is fantastic and even if we move neighborhoods, we will continue to go to Dr. Gidwani. I trust Dr. G. implicitly. I would HIGHLY recommend her. read more
