Theaters are kind-of a mixed bag these days. You have some that are run down and some that are trying to be super-high-end... but rarely is there anything thats nice and in between. I think that's why the Galaxy Theaters in Monroe shines. Every time I go here, I go when it's fairly quiet (like... 3:00-5:00 during the week). I usually see kids movies or kid-friendly moves... with kids. So, thats my lens, here. Parking is insanely huge and you will have zero issues. The only edge-case is that the Monroe Farmers market (and some other random events and stands) use this gigantic parking lot. Again... it's gigantic and it overflows into other gigantic parking lots... You'll be fine. Buying tickets -- you can buy them online, from a real-life human, or from a self-serve kiosk just inside the main doors. We've had issues with the kiosk thing in the past, and the online system charges you a fee ($2.50 per ticket), so we usually order at the human. They no longer user the windows inside the first door, and you have to go in to the second doors to buy tickets. Not sure what that's about - the old way made more sense to me... but it's whatever. Maybe it's an off-hours thing, too... who knows. Oh, one cool thing about their website, though, is you can pick your seats ahead of time and see how full shows are. Solid intel. The concession stand is very well stocked and always has enough people - you have the usuals: popcorn and candy... drinks: soda, icees, etc... and alcohol (beer, bottles, and mixed drinks)... ice cream... hot stuff (pretzels, pizza, nachos...). It's solid. They've always given me good service - it's quick, efficient, and clean... they get you moving and try not to let long lines occur. The theaters are nice and always surprisingly clean. I don't think I've ever had that "sticky feet" experience where you walk through some old soda spill. So... it's good. We often choose to go to the theater that has the big red, electric recliner chairs. This is a nice little comfort and well spread out - that just makes the experience extra good. I think they have multiple screens with the recliners and if I understand correctly, only the "DFX" and "DBOX" experiences are more expensive. DFX... I've never really paid attention to the difference, and I've never done DBOX. Generally, prices are: Matinees -- $13.25 for adult, $10.00 for child/senior... Evening -- $15.50 for adult, $12.50 for child/senior... and then the "premium experiences" (or whatever you'd call them) are $3.50 more for DFX and $8.00 more for DBOX. Then, like I said... $2.49 more for the service charge if you order online (yikes! not a fan). read more

The recliner seats are comfortable, but the wine selection is disappointing. If you want a glass during the movie, you have to wait in the regular concession line, which can easily take 10 minutes...not very convenient. There are a few employees who are helpful and kind, but the older staff members often seem to be hanging out in the back instead of coming out to help when there are multiple people waiting in line. read more

I LOVE GALAXY THEATERS MONROE. Staff is always super nice, place is always very clean, and the popcorn is the best of any theater chain by a wide margin. A friend even bought their brisket nachos one time and they were unreal. There's no way they had a genuine barbecue operation in the movie theater kitchen but there may as well have been by the way it tasted. Their special events are second to none. Summer movie fest which lasts from April to August plays old and new movies with tickets for $2. I just saw The Iron Giant with my friend this way. Flashback cinema plays film classics on Sundays and Wednesdays for $5. I've seen Airplane, Casablanca, Blazing Saddles, and Interstellar to name a few. The first time I came here was when I was probably 7 years old for a Toy Story double feature and I've never had a bad experience since. If any technical issues ever happen you are compensated with free tickets. If they had a service similar to AMC stubs A-list or Regal Unlimited I would be first in line for a subscription. It's probably not possible with the infrastructure they have but the only other thing that could improve this place is an IMAX theater and even more special events. Everything about this theater is fantastic, down to the visual design of the seats and carpet. read more

A recent upgrade of some of the theaters makes this a decent place for a movie now. Added large electric recliners and better projection and sound in some auditoriums. (At least half still have the old spring-loaded clam seats, so buyer beware.) The recliners are nice. The food trays are FANTASTIC. But the foot rise on the recliners is extremely limited, which is odd and lessens the value of these new recliners. Added a bar and more food options. Those are great. But the popcorn still lags behind AMC. But this is now a place we will go for movies when we don't want to drive to AMC in Woodinville. And that's an improvement. read more

We LOVE this movie theater! We have been coming here for at least a decade, if not longer. DBOX has always drawn us to this theater even when we lived nowhere near here. Only became a member after moving to Monroe 3 years ago. The member perks are awesome! Experienced exceptional service today! Finally used my reward points to purchase 2 movie passes, but unfortunately was going to be unable to attend our chosen movie time for today. I asked the lovely people working if I could exchange for a show tomorrow and they helped me out no problem. We will be trying out the new recliners tomorrow which we are excited to check out. Proud to call Galaxy of Monroe our favorite theater and even happier to live so close to it now. read more

This is a solid movie theater. We've been in both theaters which have the normal seats and the other theaters with the recliners. The recliners leg rest doesn't full extend, and for a short person, I feel like toddler in the big kid's chairs. The prices are comparable with other theaters. The alcoholic beverages are a plus, and the margarita machine kicks out some decent drinks. The bathrooms could use some updating, but no overall complaints on that aspect. read more

They got the full immersion seats. Your able to reserve your seat if you wish. There is also beer, wine, and mixed drinks for the over 21 crowd. I saw a taster plate for desserts. Looked like cheesecake. It's my favorite place to watch a movie. read more

Theater and restroom were clean. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Concession gentleman knew what they were doing with the butter on that popcorn and understood the assignment. Theater was not freezing like a theater normally is. 9/10 just wish our movie had the good seats. read more

Just saw MI3 today. First, they aren't on Fandango. But we were able to get tickets on the galaxy app. Matinee was 13.25!! And that's for unassigned seating and non-recliner seats. Seriously. At least the screen and sound were good. Also, they have a retro arcade with games that take quarters. Including Mario Bros. And Pole Position II! Go just for that! read more

My twins had a birthday party at Galaxy theaters in Monroe. We rented the party room and went and saw Moana2. What an absolutely amazing experience. James and the staff went above and beyond. They all were so helpful and accommodating. They made sure we were comfortable and took care of everything. They even made signs for my girls to reserve their spots in the theater. Men's bathroom soap dispensers have been broken for at least 2 years. No salt shakers for popcorn, you have to use multiple packets, this has happened twice now, no excuse for this! The recliners are very uncomfortable, when reclined, you feel like you're on a slide and constantly pushing yourself back up into the seat. Had my drink was over filled one time, when I picked it up from the counter, it spilled on me and onto the floor. when I came out of the movie, I was actually asked not to spill my drink on the floor by one of the servers behind the counter. I have been going to this theater for at least 20 years...this is the worst I have ever seen it! I'm done, never going back again, I will be driving to Woodinville AMC theaters. read more

I am in awe of my experience. I came to see trolls 3 with my 3 year old. In the middle of the movie my toddler started to become restless, we decided to go get a snack. The snack what not what she wanted and she started to have a melt down. One of the workers (Andrew) saw what was going on and offered my daughter a troll toy. The toy was so amazing and so sweet!! I ended up have to take her back home and coming back for my siblings. When I came back Andrew told me he talked to his management and was able to get me 2 movie passes for our next visit since we weren't able to watch most of the movie. I was so shocked, grateful, and amazed. He had already tried to calm my toddler with a troll toy and then saw that didn't work so got me movie tickets to try again. Andrew is the best and I hope he is working my next visit so I can thank him again. read more

Very cool place to see a movie! Love the concession offerings and that you can get an alcoholic beverage to enjoy the show with. Place was very clean and staff was friendly while training many new employees at the same time. Theater seats were a bit old and "peeling" but it wasn't one of the luxury theaters either. read more

This has been our favorite movie theatre in the PNW. Have always had good service, and this theatre was one of the first with digital screens, so even though they're a small chain they're on top of things! Sadly, to compete, they've adopted the much despised fee based ticket prepurchase system. If the fees were reasonable, like 25 cents, it'd be ok, but no, someone's getting rich for little effort... So losing a star. So if I want to see movie, we prepurchase in person and kick around Monroe for a while. Seats are fantastic, each one with cup holder and small table. Sound is high quality, and I've heard no leakage on my visits. Bathrooms somewhat cramped. Love the galaxy rewards and free birthday ticket! Beer and wine available in some theatres. read more

I've been going to this theater since it was first opened and was the only digital theater in the state. The first few years were great. The last 5 years the quality has gone down. The latest addition of reclining chairs is actually really bad. It's like no one tested the chairs. 1. They sit too high. I'm 6'1" and my feet don't touch the floor. The back of the chair doesn't come up high enough when not reclined, leaving you feeling like you're always reclined. The foot rests don't come up over 45° so you always feel lol you're sliding out of the chair. Still the best bet for East Snohomish county, but it could be better. read more

By way of update, I have really enjoyed coming to this theater over the past year or so, but I feel compelled to write an update to my original 5 star review. The facilities are still great, and I think the quality of the screen is fantastic. They have been updating things and it shows. You can expect top notch film and audio quality when coming here. Now for the bad: maybe it has always been this way, and I'm only noticing now because my work schedule has changed to allow me for an occasional film during the day, but the matinee price for adults and children here is unacceptable. $10.75 for adults, $10.00 for children for a standard showing?!? Are you nuts? Looking at the evening prices, it's $12.50 for adults and still $10 for children. What are you thinking? The AMC in Woodinville, which is only 15 minutes away, charges $6.00 for both adult and child matinees, and in the evening $12.50 and $9.50 for adult and child respectively. And to be clear, the AMC theater is MUCH nicer than Galaxy in Monroe. I'm not sure what the rationale for the price discrepancy for matinees is, but I've been taking my business down to AMC because of it. Hopefully they fix it. If not, then good luck, Galaxy. read more

I wouldn't normally hike up to Monroe from Kirkland to see a movie, but there was a showing of 2001: A Space Odyssey at Galaxy, and that's a movie not to be missed on the big screen! Pros: - Show classic films on the big screen - Good quality audio and video - Plenty of parking - Can reserve seats in advance - Comfortable seats Cons: - Footrests don't move, so you can't fully recline the seats - Lobby and concession stands were meh - not the cleanest I've seen - Rest rooms were weirdly designed (Sinks in the back? Why?) and also not the cleanest All in all, it's a good enough theater, you just won't have the superbly comfortable experience currently on offer in a lot of theaters, but when they're showing a film that can't be seen elsewhere, it's well worth the drive. read more

I am a definite fan of this theatre! Twelve screens and every single one shows films in DLP digital glory. It is a little bit of a drive from Seattle but you can catch a matinee after a film's been released and not deal with a packed movie house. We will make a day of it stopping at our favourite Thai place before the film and then hitting the Yakima Fruit Market on the way home for inexpensive produce. There's a lot that I love about this place. They have real butter for the popcorn and plenty of concession selections. The employees also seem genuinely glad to work here. They have consistently been friendly and pleasant. Clean bathrooms and very comfortable seats. Parking is quite plentiful and there's a Fred Meyer nearby if you want to smuggle in cheap candy. We really like this theater, as the video and audio are quite good. The concessions are good and we like the bargain tuesdays. Only problem is that a lot of the seats are getting worn, and lean back too far, and are squeaky. If they would do some maintenance on the seats, it would all be great. read more

Clean and comfortable but they don't open on time. We went to see the new Star Wars movie at the 10:00 AM Showing. Online it says they open at 9:30. At 9:55 there is a crowd of over 30 people waiting outside the doors. A lady, who I take is the manager, peaks out a side door and says they don't open until 9:50 and there is no popcorn then shuts it and walks away shaking her head. No explanation on why they are late or if the online time is wrong. The entry door finally opens and then there is no one to sell tickets for another 5 minutes. Finally someone shows up and we enter at 10:00 AM and yes, they were just starting to make popcorn. A businesses that is customer oriented needs to open on time and be ready for business at the advertised time. read more

I love this theater. One of my buddies introduced me to it a few years back and my friends often drive out for movie nights. The seats don't recline but are more comfortable than most. Their Tuesday deal prompted me to come out to Monroe and kill a whole day catching up on movies one time when my family was busy and I had the day off. The screes are good, the picture clear and the sound is great. Really just the total package save for the need for recliners. There is also one of the best teriyaki joints in the whole region in the strip mall next door if you come out for an all day binge-fest and need to eat between shows. read more

Bought a ticket and their screen did not work. It's in the middle of no where so it was a waste of gas driving there. If their projector breaks, you basically wasted your time and gas to drive yourself back home. I was tempted to ask them to pay me back for my gas but I decided not to waste my time. There's no IMAX/RPX. So, only come here if you want D Box and willing to sacrifice the IMAX experience. Also, they don't show all movies in 3D D Box so make sure you check before you come. The online booking with app charges you $3.5 more. ---------------------------------------- Me and my wife both took a day off work just to come here for avengers 3D D box today. The only reason why we came here is because of the combination of 3D and D box, and the same goes for most people there today (pretty much only the D box rows had people) We drove a whole hour just to get here for a long overdued date. Sat in the theater for over an hour just to be told that they can't get it running. The communication was confusing too, they said they need 45 minutes to get it reboot and running, and later on they said they don't plan to actually show it for the rest of the day. We were going to eat dinner around the theater after the movie which was the perfect plan as the movie was at 2pm. Now we're out at 3pm, drove to Monroe to absolutely no reason but a waste of gas. The manager said we can watch the movie that was going to start, without mentioning that it's not 3D, and it's not D box. So...... why are you telling a group of people who bought 3D D box tickets to watch the movie in regular seating, with no assigned seats and everyone has already seated? I got my ticket refunded as we didn't get to watch anything at all. They told us to come back the next day, but honestly, I don't even know if I really wanna drive another hour without knowing whether if their stuff works or not. They're only showing the 3D D box once a day, so, you're basically pressing your luck and be the guinea pig of the day every time. Today is also the "cheap" Tuesday, so....... maybe their stuff breaks every Tuesday so that you have to pay more on other days then? Note: Their 3D D box is NOT IMAX and it's noticeably small. Well idk what has changed if it is new management or what, but they are now alienating some of their best customers to save a few cents. They used to provide refills on the premium large drinks, bit not anymore even though I am there all the time. Their attitude and stupid policies have made it that I don't want to go here anymore. This used to be a good place to go, but now they don't care about the people that keep them in business. Idk why I am surprised though everywhere has turned to crap and no one cares about the people who go to their business to spend money. And no I don't only go Tuesday when it is cheaper I prefer quieter times so I spend a lot more. Attention: review based on one poor experience. Typically rate this experience as a Your GM basically said no to everything the moment we saw her, said it was our phones fault that the tickets wouldn't scan (how is that even possible? The code was loaded but her iPad wouldn't scan it). So we had to wait in a huge line, although we had already purchased our tickets, to have them printed. The younger girl who took over for a split second checking tickets was attempting to help us and reload her scanning up, but the GM came back and said no they have to wait in line. At that point, I nicknamed her "Mrs. No". Then she said it was our fault it wouldn't scan, as if trying to infuriate me. Where did you learn customer service lady? Nowhere!!! I Asked if we could add our rewards to our purchase, she said "no" she couldn't do it until after the movie? Ok. Went to find her and waited in line (wasting more time and trying to corral a 2 year old) at ticket box where she was, when she finished with customer she looked at us and shut her window down (the physical "no"), making the whole line wait for the one person behind the window. And a few other things.... I spilled basically a whole thing of popcorn on floor outside of theatre 12(accident) and when we left the movie 1.5 hours later, still there! Nice job GM! Tried to find our row in theatre 12, no letters anywhere, basically had to disrupt the whole damn audience to find our seats. Honestly, everyone else we interacted with was pleasant. My boyfriend and I went to this movie theater since we were in the area and heard wonderful things from family and friends. We went here on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't busy. Price wasn't horrible or great just typically of a movie theater. The disappointment we had was the dirtiness of the theater and how broken some of the chairs were. It seemed like no one cared about the mess: popcorn on the floor when you walk in the theater, on the floor and chairs. It seems like no one came to clean up in between showing. This movie theater is definitely neglected and has not been maintained at all. I will not be returning here for any reason. If you can and willing to travel a little bit to Everett or Marysville to watch a movie I would say do it. read more
