I couldn't be happier with our fence, gate and restored shred and flag pole! We received four bids and Arturo was not only the best value and quality, but he also was the most knowledgeable. We soon learned he's also very thoughtful, prompt and resourceful. I told him we use the left side of the gate often to enter the back yard, so he build the left is as 3 ft. to resemble a door instead of 5 ft. He also salvaged our flag pole, which was previously part of the old gate post. So glad he was able to keep the flag pole and put it into the ground. The black knob and wood stain are beautiful. While it would have been easier for him to demolish the entire 70 ft fence in one day, but he left the fence next to our playground untouched until he could complete it so our kids wouldn't get hurt. Arturo is an absolute ace. Quality work, from a highly experienced professional and all-around good guy - at a fair price. New fences around 2/3 of my property just installed, cost no more than a will-not-be-named big fence company from San Leandro that my neighbors used a couple of years ago for a similar board-on-board style fence section - and that one is already sagging due to shoddy, rapid construction. My new redwood fences from Galaxy are as solid as they come and look great. Arturo was great to work with, very honest and clear up front about everything, and worked around my specific requirements, pesky questions, and even "helping" (though I know well enough to mostly stay out of the way of the pros at work... I do like to know that things are being done well and correctly the first time, etc.) You may need to pester him a bit to get on his busy schedule, and you may need to wait a little while for his availability - he keeps himself quite busy - but you will not be disappointed with the results. The bigger fence companies may do the job for you sooner, and twice as fast with a bigger crew, and for about the same money, but you'll be well sorry a few years later when their work starts showing its lack of quality and care put into the job. Arturo came over and gave a great quote, I wanted a horizontal cedar fence installed. He said he was busy, there was a lot of rain-he called about 6 weeks later to setup the job. I had gotten a few quotes and knew the price of the lumber he quoted was cheaper than I found myself. Somewhere along the line Arturo figured it out too since he tried to change the price after giving a written quote-and even tried to steer me to cheaper lumber. He tried to tell me lumberyards don't sell cedar wood anymore. Laughable. We negotiate again to the same price and lumber. He shows up on a Monday to start, and says he's not doing the job as my neighbor had too many things piled up on his side of the fence. Arturo had already came out and looked at the job (including over the fence) when he gave the quote. Very unprofessional. read more

Arturo and his son replaced & repaired my backyard fence. I had the unique opportunity to see him work on 2 sides of my fence while another one (shared with another neighbor) was repaired by a different company (my neighbor's choice). I'm very satisfied with his work. Having 2 companies' team work on different sides of the fences on overlapping days was an interesting perspective. The only (small) con: Compared to other companies I asked for quote, his business seem small enough that he doesn't have a full time person handling phone calls, emails, and texts. This means sometimes talking to him while he is on the job somewhere, and getting an agreed upon time talking over the phone with whatever background noise increases the chance for appointment time errors. He called 1 day prior to the appointments (both for the quote and the actual repair job), but it helps a lot to try to confirm with him in advance. Pros: (1) Overall work Aside from that, unlike with bigger companies that may send different employees with different skill/work ethics (see some reviews of other companies), his fence work is likely to be more consistent. That's why I ended up choosing him to do the work. (2) Inspection appointment (to provide a cost estimate) As I mentioned in the con above, we ran into a scheduling issue when he called to confirm a date that is a week later than what I thought we agreed upon. We worked out a compromise time between his work. But even then, he didn't seem to rush his inspection and was quite thorough relative to other companies' inspection. Some other companies didn't even look as carefully or missed details during their inspection that the job may require additional materials (e.g. a kick panel for a slightly exposed raised ground on the neighbor's side that could hasten the decay of the fence panels if left as-is). As a result, they may have a lower quote because they're not providing the same materials. (3) Fence work He was very flexible in dealing with unexpected situations regarding prepping the surface around the fence posts and a change request I made during the job. When one of the fence frames appear to tilt the wrong way due to the contour of the yard (it was correctly level but the undulating slope of the ground make it appear that way) and I requested a change, he offered a more elaborate fix than what I think would be sufficient. (I opted for a simpler option in the end for a variety of reasons, which still meant that they had to cut parts of the work they have done) They took care in making sure the fence panels are nicely aligned, and didn't try to rush the job. Afterwards, they cleaned up the site; the other company working on my other side of the fence didn't clean up as thoroughly. Seen up close, the result of his fence work is much tidier than the other company's work. I would entrust future fence work with Galaxy. read more

Made an appointment for him to repair/replace approximately 3 1/2 sections of property line fence. He did not try to sell me anything I did not need or tell me the whole fence needed replacing. I agreed to his price and set a date. Guess what, he showed up exactly when he said he would. Got the job done quickly and efficiently (despite my sprinklers turning on in the middle of his job, oops. Forgot to adjust the time clock after the power outage a few weeks ago). He did a great job. Arturo and Galaxy Fence are the best! We had our first fence built by Arturo last year. He did such wonderful work, that we naturally asked him back for our most recent fence. Our first fence was all redwood with two gates, plus a custom made door for an arch in another part of our yard. The second fence was built out to the street (wood) and connects with an existing chain link fence that runs along the front of our property. Arturo had to widen an existing opening in the chain link fence (for our driveway) and also built two new chain link gates so that we could completely close off our property. The results are amazing! Arturo not only owns Galaxy Fence, he also is at every job. He works quickly and does beautiful work. I can't recommend Arturo and Galaxy Fence enough. Arturo repaired our backyard fence in November 2017. Several 4x4 posts were wobbly because previous neighbors had two aggressive German Shepherds that jumped on the fence. I was very satisfied with how well the fence was reinforced with additional 4x4 posts in concrete. The end result looked great and was very sturdy. Arturo and his son Carlos did a fantastic job from serving us quickly for an estimate and then getting the job done. He originally quoted us one or two weeks after signing the contract, he called and moved us up since we have a pool and didn't want to leave it exposed. Our old fence blew over in the wind storm. They then did our new fence one section each day so we never had the pool exposed over night. That is 5 stars for service but they also get 5 stars for the fence. They put in extra boards in each section and then screw them down so when the fence starts to shrink, we won't be getting spaces between the boards. We thank them very much for their service and work. In fact, we are having them quote us on two gates into the yard that need replacing. We asked Galaxy fence for a 2nd estimate to replace a long backyard fence. When Arturo came out, he immediately saw that we needed to work around the area of roots for our 3 very large 40 year old redwood trees, knew where to put the new posts and how to deal with varying problems with the trees. His estimate was not the cheapest, but we are extremely happy with the, results. The fence is perfectly straight, well constructed, looks wonderful and basically is anchored around the redwoods without disturbing them at all. When my backyard fence blew over, I called a few contractors to get quotes on repairs. His quote for replacement wasn't the lowest, but he was able to offer a repair option while other contractors would only do a replacement. While I negotiated with the neighbor over the cost, Arturo fixed my mailbox post and replaced 3 broken posts on another section of fence I shared with a different (and more agreeable) neighbor. Both were done for very reasonable prices. I finally used him to do the larger repair as well. It's great to be able to be able to use a local contractor. It's even better when he's so easy to work with and does such a great job. I watched him work for a bit to try and pick up some of his tricks.
