Is it cliché to come to NYC and hit up 47th St. (NYC's jewelry district)? Perhaps it is. But do you think I care? Hardly! Last year my amazing husband and fellow Yeep, (who happened to grow up in Manhattan) suggested we go for a walk down 47th St. so I could see what it's like. I was like, "uh, no"! Why would I want to tempt myself? But being the good wife that I am, I ended up saying "sure". I didn't "NEED" anything at all. Like seriously, I didn't need or really want anything. My man has always been good to me so I felt I had all I could want. We hit up one store along the way and inquired about some screw back diamond earrings. Got a price and continued down the street. We made eye contact with Michael who was working in the front window. We decided to compare prices on the earrings I eventually ended up NEEDING! Please understand that we compared "apples with apples" here. Not like we looked at different earrings. These were "like for like". During our visit, Gabriel came over to assist us too. The price he gave us was $800 less that the guy down the street. My husband DEMANDED we purchase these earrings. Who was I to argue? I'm trying to hurry on this review and just tell you that these guys are legit. They are masters of their craft. Gabriel has since custom designed a right hand ring for me. He used stones left to me when my Mom passed. They do high quality work at very reasonable prices. The fact that they do custom work is a huge plus! It's not like going to some big chain store where everything looks the same and there are more of exactly the same in the back room. There are one of a kind pieces here! Today we came in and asked about an engagement ring that a friend of ours wants to have custom designed for his girlfriend. We gave them the budget and both Michael and Gabriel said they can make it happen. How awesome is that? But let me tell you the best part!!! Since next month my hubs and I will be celebrating 10 years of blissful togetherness I ended up with a new setting for my wedding ring too! My husband demanded we upgrade my original ring. These demands are getting outta hand! How did I get so lucky?! Anyway, I'll post pics of that ring when I get it back. For now...I'll let you see my amazing earrings and my right hand ring. If you are looking for quality work, reasonable prices and a real jeweler to call your own, look no further. There are a crazy amount of options on 47th. Save yourself time and money and tell Gabriel I sent you! read more

UPDATED REVIEW: Unfortunately I have to update my review. After finding out the value of my engagement ring vs the price Michael charged. Thousands of dollars more than the actual value of the ring **Like $6000 more** Michael originally charged 10K for the ring but accepted 8K. Not to mention he told my then fiancé that If I ever decide to sell the ring to come back to him directly and he won't have an issue buying the ring back. Not to go to any one else, (hmmm I wonder why, well now we know why) after going to other reputable jewelers they all valued the ring around the same value which was $1,800 - 2k. I went to sell the ring back to Michael which he offered $3500 but claimed "He didn't have enough cash" from the other reviews I can see this is a pattern for him. Not to mention he tried to ask me to leave the ring with him and he'll sell it for more for me (Yea OK) buyers please beware, and if you don't know about diamonds or jewelry I highly advise doing your research before purchasing. According to other jewelers who are more reputable Michael and this store are known for selling low quality jewelry for higher prices and apparently scamming people . I do not recommend purchasing any jewelry from here and will strongly advise checking reputable jewelry stores around double check reviews before wasting your time and money. read more

Scammers, bought earrings for $1200, year later wanted to sell, went to an appraiser, he said they are filled with silicone, couldn't get more than $300, and the seller told me: sorry, we are short on cash( in other words, i know i sold you garbage, why would i want it back) stay away. read more

We went here to replace my 51 year old setting for my engagement ring. Got very good advice and a fair price trading In my old band. Michael and his wife Irina were very helpful! Ring was set and ready in an hour! Wedding bands were polished and I got an appraisal included on my diamond. They polished and cleaned my diamond wedding bands at no charge! At lunch I noticed a small stone missing from the setting and went back and stone was replaced in a few minutes. Very reliable! read more

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS! They are crooks and rip people off. They promise you one thing and then do not come through! They tell you they can make you the exact ring that you want and then when they do it, it comes out looking like complete garbage and nothing like what you wanted. They are rude and hang up on you when they don't want to deal with you and they act like they know everything there is to know about diamonds and settings when in reality they do not know anything. I was very interested in a setting I saw there last night. I told Irena that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in June. She would not let me take a picture of the setting so I could show my husband who was not with me. I left and looked around a little more and went back to look at the ring again. Irena told me extremely rudely that she didn't have time for me and that I didn't need the ring until June anyway. The other employees started laughing as I walked out of the store embarrassed by how I had been treated. Too bad because they just lost a $4000 sale from me. read more

I would give NO stars if I could! RUN!! DO NOT BUY from this store! They sold me a "treated" diamond and did not tell me. A treated diamond is a VERY poor quality diamond they have "injected" and treated. The diamond in my ring is worth NOTHING. They refused to give me a refund. The setting was cheap and the sapphires fell out after one wearing. Do not believe the Mother who stands in the window with her 30% off sign held up to lure you in! This family are RIP OFFS!!! They are not truthful and should be put out of business. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Came down to 47th street on a Saturday, a lot of places were closed but we wandered into a few. I was browsing for a wedding band to match my sapphire and diamond engagement ring and Gabriel showed me about 10 different options. When I finally settled on "the ONE" which was beautiful and fit perfectly, he gave us a great deal. (I know, I did my homework with the online stores before going!). Great experience, nice guy, great service. Do yourself a favor and go visit Gabriel/47th street if you are looking for any kind of jewelry. They are the real deal. read more

My fiance purchase and engagement ring last year from Gabriel's. We thought we had gotten such a great deal. It wasn't until we were on the train ride home we noticed the wording on the invoice was: "clarity enhanced diamond". Not knowing what this meant I quickly googled the term. I was horrified to find out that it meant that my diamond had underwent a drilling process in which they drill out the flaw and fill it with a substance to mask the defect. As if that wasn't bad enough I noticed the diamond had a reddish hue, which I later found out was the filler. I immediately called and spoke to the owner demanding a refund which he flat out denied. Never once did any of them tell me that I was purchasing a "clarity enhanced" diamond. These people are crooks. They draw you in with their fake persona, and then rob you blind. Beware of these people. read more

I want to be fair and objective about this. I have lots of subjective comments but again wish to be fair to the store owner... #1-Do your research on "clarity enhanced" diamonds, one person may be okay with this and one person may not be-NO Big-just know which type you are....Ask to see the diamond's EGL certification prior to consideration (you will read in fine print which flaw/defect has been altered, fixed, enhanced) i.e. do not just accept color and clarity ratings (please research EGL vs. GIA appraisals). #2-Gabriel and his son, Michael, are delightful, helpful, charming but above all "Professional Sale's Men" don't forget that; However, they are adorable and patient... They had a wide variety of beautiful settings and stones in the settings for people who have no vision-like me! We took a setting with the diamond already set to a professional appraiser (cost was $200-Apt. took about 1 hour.) just because we had read so much on-line about the 47th Street shops in general. Mr. Gabriel was willing to do this with us and he went to the appraisal apt. with us ring "in tow". The appraisal came very close-The appraisal came in 8% lower or $1,000 lower than the asking price on this particular finalized set ($12,500). We however, decided to walk away only due to the fact that the stone in that particular setting had what appeared a previous full-through fracture that was "fixed"...or "enhanced". This information was NOT disclosed in full detail until the appraiser explained it to us. Just do your research before you go down to the 47th Street. We spent 6 days doing research (and paying a fortune for Uber/cab rides back and forth) after the fact when we should have spent 6 days on-line reading reviews and researching..... Best of Luck....Be Knowledgable!! :-) read more

I was given a beautiful diamond bangle by my mother from Gabriel Jewelers. It was gorgeous, absolutely no complaints, but less than 6 months later I was in NYC and wanted something more sparkly. Michael and his parents really gave us exceptional customer service. I will say that there is something about Michael's personality that lacks some finesse but his parents are really fantastic and they all went above and beyond. They upgraded my bangle and gave me the full value my mom paid towards a larger one which is pretty unheard of. They really bent over backwards to make sure the whole family was satisfied. My mom decided then that she would rather have a white gold bangle than the yellow gold one that Michael custom made for her. So he switched it out for her, no problem despite the fact that her yellow gold one was worn for 6 months. I was truly blown away. As a business owner I think I would have told my mom no way or there would be some kind of cleaning /polishing charge but they did it free of charge. Also, I am very indecisive and they were patient while I picked out the bracelet and then sent it out to have it sized down and milgrained per my request. The bracelet is perfect! The stones are clean, have an excellent cut, and sparkle beautifully. I couldn't be happier and I used to work in the jewelry industry so I am very particular. I will definitely be shopping here again. read more

Gabriel was recommended by a friend of mine. I needed to get my wedding band fixed; it used to belong to my husband's great grandmother so it was in bad shape and had lost a diamond. Gabriel listened to what I wanted and had the patience to put up with my concerns and hesitations. He fixed the band beautifully, while preserving the original look. I used to belong to the diamond industry and met a few dishonest jewelers, but Gabriel is solid and I highly recommend him. read more

My brother recommended Gabriel and his wife for the purchase of our engagement ring, which was by far the best decision I have made. I was in the market for a Morganite stone, I had been to other jewelers on the search and was horrified when they suggested to me I couldn't afford a diamond (my apparent reasoning for a Morganite). Gabriel and his wife Irina greeted my Fiancée and I as soon as we walked in the door. As we sat down I described my dream ring; not too big, not too small, no diamond halo, and I wanted the focus to be on the Morganite. First we went back and forth on what shape I wanted the stone to be, he let me be as indecisive as I wanted. Next we went over what seemed like a hundred different settings, he showed me what he felt would look right with the size of my stone, and then I showed him what I THOUGHT I wanted....complete opposites. Thank goodness I took his advice, I decided on a larger Morganite, surrounded by a diamond halo, set in rose gold. Gabriel sized my finger, gave us a quote and told us it would be ready in two weeks. My ring is stunning, anytime someone asks I tell them I have an amazing jeweler who will lead you in the right direction. I couldn't be happier, I will be a return customer and refer all my friends and family to Gabriel Exclusive Amelia and Henry read more

Its taken me a long time to post this review but I have been having a long running issue with my credit card providers. In 2019 I visited this establishment to upgrade the diamond in my 18k engagement ring I was told by Michael( Gabriel's son) that I couldn't use original shank as it would not accommodate a larger diamond, he suggested he would copy original ring and give me a bigger diamond, Michaels appraisal as follows:- ladies 14k white gold round cut brilliant diamond, weighing exactly 1.78K top near colourless G colour& clarity enhanced SI2, slightly included in clarity replacement value 16,000 dollars, he took my old engagement ring as part exchange, and I paid 4300.00 dollars for upgrade, there is much more to this story but I couldn't possibly write an essay on here, the upshot was when I returned home to UK I went to get it valued ,my jeweller was horrified at the state of the diamond, they classed it at 12/3 fracture filled, and definitely not colour G more a P, also the workmanship of the ring copy was very shoddy. I rang Michael as soon as I got the valuation, and told him I was going to raise a claim, he told me everyone valued at different margins and said" You do what you want young lady" in a very condescending manner. Since July 2019 I have been involved with battles with credit card section 75, and going round Jewellers shops and Pawnbrokers( even these establishments wouldn't buy the ring) I would advise anyone visiting the diamond centre never to go near this place I have lost my lovely old ring, for an absolute appalling replacement BE WARNED Maria UK read more

When my husband went shopping for the first time for an engagement ring, he was understandably overwhelmed by the options out there. If you walk up and down the Diamond District street, you will easily find more than a dozen shop attendants seeking business. It just so happened that he ended up at Gabriel's shop, and it might have been a completely random pick but it worked out! Gabriel and his wife helped my husband narrow down his selection, and I'm told that they were never pushy or demanding. We ended up having to go back to the store to get the ring resized and Gabriel was very accommodating. I have fairly small hands and narrow fingers, so getting the ring right was a gamble! read more

Replacing a battery for a watch can be an adventure in NYC. My wife and I found a reputable place via yelp at the same address as Gabriel Exclusive to fix watches. There are a bunch of booths, so you have to make sure you go to the right one. Sadly, as my wife walked in, the first booth said welcome and asked what she needed. This was her first time there and she did not realize it was divided into many shops. What should have cost $10 for a battery change ended up being $30. Three times more than the other booths right next door. When I went back to inquire as to why this had happened, a man named Michael only stated that it was an expensive battery due to the brand name and then proceeded to ignored me and even worse would not make eye contact as I asked why to explain the discrepancy in prices. I was super calm and simply wanted to know why the battery was so expensive, was it a special battery? I let him know that at this point I just wanted him to understand that we knew we were ripped off and that the best we could do was not come back again and spread the word. Sad state of affairs when a man can't even look you in the eye when they know they have done wrong. Good luck Gabriel Exclusive with this business model, I hope you put that $20 towards some customer service training or at least a book on ethics. read more

So I proposed yesterday, and my fiancée and I both love her ring! Gabriel and his wife and son were so helpful, true professionals. Before I picked the ring up, my fiancée wanted to change the setting, so I stopped by and Gabriel was so willing to help me, and we found the perfect micro-pavé halo setting! I would recommend Gabriel Exclusive to all, and to those who are wary of shopping for a ring in the "diamond district," I would direct them to Gabriel and his family, who will help them find a piece of jewelry that you really want, they won't let you settle for something you are simply "happy with," they will make sure you find something you love, and will do so with professionalism, honesty and great advice! read more

A few months ago I purchased a ring from Gabriel Exclusive my husband and I went to an independent appraiser and we were told that the center stone is clarity enhanced. We were never told that it was clarity enhance nor were we explained what that meant. We went back to Gabriel Exclusive and the sales man, Michael, tried to convince us that he did tell us it was clarity enhanced when we purchased the ring. After five minutes of him trying to unsuccessfully convince us Gabriel himself came into the office where they trapped us in and at that point we decided it was of no use and we were better off just going to another jeweler and upgrade to what we originally wanted. I Usually never write reviews, but recently I saw an investigative report on channel 7 about how by law we were supposed to be told that what we are buying is a treated stone. THEY LIED TO US AND WE WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. STAY AWAY!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES!!! read more

We were recommended by a family member to go to "his guy" in the diamond district. We were overwhelmed with the number of jewelers and the various reviews, so having a referral was essential. Mike, Gabriel and Irena all worked as a team to help us find the perfect diamond and setting. They spent sufficient time with us and really worked to make us happy. Once we made it back home and had it appraised, the appraiser confirmed everything Mike told us (diamond quality, gold content, etc.). The diamond had an inscription and the number was listed on the GIA report, but Gabriel's didn't have the high powered microscope for us to verify that in the shop. Mike walked us over to the shop he uses to resize the rings and we watched that as it happened too. The price was reasonable and helped us save without losing quality (which was very important to my fiancé). We were very happy overall and now consider them our jewelers. read more
