Anyways, this is the only place I've gotten my nails done in Los Angeles and I won't be going anywhere else! First of all, I've always been very pandemic conscious, and I appreciated how diligent and clean Janis's place was with pandemic precautions. It's usually just her working, so you're only engaging with one person which I love more than a crowded salon. The attention to detail is impeccable. I love that she gives a discount for Occidental workers which is wonderful and this is just my favorite place to go. Always book in advance... I usually book 2 or three appointments at a time. Spaced out when I'm thinking about it. She usually doesn't have last-minute availability because people are regulars, and they book up far in advance. Wonderful work, kind person, great service.

The nail artists were either super slow (6+ hours for a mani) or just really bad vibes. They did a great job, but it sucks handing over that much money and feeling awful walking / running out the door. The first time I went to Blackheart Nails, I felt at home right away. I adore Sica and she is a wizard. She's always able to achieve the looks I ask for without hesitation, and she is FAST. All the artists are talented and genuinely good people. An high school pal posted a story of her "Christmas fantasy" nails on the gram and tagged blackheart nails. I immediately checked them out and it was a YES for me. The booking was a breeze, straight to the point. The day of the appointment, I was able to find parking easily. They are located upstairs, you can't miss the sign. They do have two studios, so be mindful of the nail tech you booked with which will decide on which studio you'll go into. I booked with Lauren who specializes in 3D nail art. Lauren was great and my nails turned out so good! I was very impressed and loved the way they turned out. If you are looking for a new nail salon, I highly recommend checking out Blackheart Nails. Just give her a call or text to make an appointment, there's no waiting to see her but she does take her time to insure she does the best job possible for you. It's personal-- one on one. I love her punctuality. Let's be honest at most nail salons they are overbooked or have clients overlapping where you never get seen at your appointment time. She values your time. Keep in mind she does take her time but it's because she wants to make sure everything is as close to perfection as possible. This is quality work!

Ultimately, ANY specific or special requests here are viewed as problematic and will get you labeled and talked about -- possibly even yelled at. Yes, yelled at. I came in at 4 on my last visit and was asked to come back at 5 for a fill and pedicure. By 6:15, dyeing my very long pedicure process-- when I asked why no one has started my nails, I was yelled at then ignored while I watched them take new walk ins and pretend they had "appointments". By virtue of the fact I was asked to come back at 5, didn't I have one as well? Another patron noticed this and also mentioned it had happened to her there. The manager ignored it and pretended not to notice. The whole vibe of the staff is that they are basically doing you a favor. Please. Nothing could be further from the truth. The work is barely acceptable -- but it's close to home. I finally directly asked the manager why I was forced to wait and she fed me something about being short staffed. However, I later watched yet another patron get both hands and feet serviced at once, so I have no idea. I will say there is one man there who does an okay job, but to my sadness he was absent that day. Thus, I had to settle for whomever I got. She was nice enough, but her talent was limited -- to put it nicely. My fill looks worse than my original new growth. She didn't even remove the lifting product first. All bad. I'll need to remove these by the end of the week to protect the integrity of my nails. Oh and remember I arrived at 4 -- I left at 7:50. So much for an early drop in.
