I received a gel manicure and before I hit the one week mark I had three nails chipped. I went back and they fixed it free of charge which I would expect, but still quite unusual. I am a mother and chalked it up to I'm rough on my hands but still felt early for chips. 2. My husband booked a 4pm appointment for myself, my daughter for her first ever pedicure, and my mother on Mother's Day. He booked the appointment a week in advance. We show up at 4 and there are no seats open and told to wait 5 minutes. This became 30 minutes (imagine that on a 3 year old toddler), we were sat separately from each other, and our pedicures were rushed. We weren't asked if we wanted to pay for any upgraded pedicures because they closed at 5 and it was obvious they were rushing (sweeping and cleaning next to us). The reason we were split up was a mother and daughter that came in as walk-in (the daughter told me so). So all in all not a great experience on Mother's Day. 3. The last straw was before Mother's Day I had gotten hard gel nails since I figured the chipping was my issue. Two days ago, less than two weeks from the manicure, and entire nail just popped off like a press on. I went in today and they refused to fix it without charging me as it had been two weeks. Now look, I understand at two weeks a chip or crack may happen...but the entire thing shouldn't pop off. Hard gel should take effort to remove. I brought the whole nail as well to show I didn't pick at it or anything. Anyways, not high quality nails or service unfortunately.

Anyways, this is the only place I've gotten my nails done in Los Angeles and I won't be going anywhere else! First of all, I've always been very pandemic conscious, and I appreciated how diligent and clean Janis's place was with pandemic precautions. It's usually just her working, so you're only engaging with one person which I love more than a crowded salon. The attention to detail is impeccable. I love that she gives a discount for Occidental workers which is wonderful and this is just my favorite place to go. Always book in advance... I usually book 2 or three appointments at a time. Spaced out when I'm thinking about it. She usually doesn't have last-minute availability because people are regulars, and they book up far in advance. Wonderful work, kind person, great service.

By 6:15, dyeing my very long pedicure process-- when I asked why no one has started my nails, I was yelled at then ignored while I watched them take new walk ins and pretend they had "appointments". By virtue of the fact I was asked to come back at 5, didn't I have one as well? Another patron noticed this and also mentioned it had happened to her there. The manager ignored it and pretended not to notice. The whole vibe of the staff is that they are basically doing you a favor. Please. Nothing could be further from the truth.
