Shoutout to Shirley for taking care of my toes! She's helped me a few times and is consistently gentle, detailed & courteous. The space is open & bright with friendly & professional staff. Walk-in's are accepted which is nice for an on-a-whim self care session. There's also a small parking lot right in front for your convenience. read more

So happy I found my regular nail salon I love coming here Shirley always does a great job on my nails :)

Let me just start this off by saying I know absolutely nothing about getting my nails did. I have a bad habit of biting my nails so this review is about my toenails... Cuz I can't reach them... But started doing yoga so maybe one day. Anyways the reason I came in is to bring my 92 year old grandma who has lived in HLP for 50 years. My grandmother has been coming here for years and only gets her pedicure with one person specifically. The reason she says is because she is very gentle with making sure you are not in pain. She enjoyed her color and cut. I decided to get one too with the same lady. She indeed was very gentle even when I was flipping like a fish when she cleaned the bottom of my feet cuz it's ticklish. I also got my nails colored for the first time in my life cuz it was requested by my gf.. you do what you gotta do. Overall the experience was great, very gentle, didn't hurt and the color was applied well (to my limited knowledge). I unfortunately do not know prices for these sort of things but the pedicure was 19 bucks with the nail color included. Idk how long this paint will last but when it doesn't I'll be back! Also they talk to each other a lot in their own language which I don't mind. read more

I loved coming here to do my pedicures came in on a Wednesday took the lady 45 mins to do a pedicure not only did she genuinely mess up my nails she was soo rude I asked her to remove the gel polish and gave me attuide and also still charged me 25$ for a pedicure, she didn't cut my nails and I asked her to remove her half ass job of polish I shouldn't haven't paid for something she couldn't even do which was a French tip pedicure read more

Ana and Kim do such an amazing job , I love everyone there , they make me feel welcomed every time I go and do my Ped and mani

Wouldn't recommend at all. Just cut my nail so short that it now hurts and I had to leave. The nail tech tried to tell me that she was just trying to make them even. But you can clearly see from the photo that she clearly cut so deep that it now hurts. Left mid-appointment. read more

Incredibly rude and don't care about customer loyalty! After asking for a refund after spending 3 HOURS fixing their unprofessional job on acrylic nails and causing bleeding on each finger, the manager said, "You're just one customer. I won't go out of business." WOW. NEVER AGAIN! Unless you want to risk getting an infection, DON'T COME HERE! read more

If I could give them 0 starts I would. This place Is horrible with customers. The waits are long, they seem to be busy but they are not. Staff are too slow, I wouldn't mind they are slow but they don't do a good job. They told a customer that the wait time was 1 hour so she could come back later, we'll she did and they told her they were closed already. She was upset but it didn't matter because they don't care. read more

To put it frankly, these women have no idea what they are doing. During my mani, pedi I sustained two injuries and left in so much pain I could hardly sleep last night. I made the mistake of getting a full set and pedicure at 1st Rose yesterday evening. Let's start with the full set. The nail technician proceeded to grind her tool deep into my cuticle/ nail bed, I had to pull my hand back in pain. This woman literally spent over an hour just grinding and filling down my nails, honestly I should have just walked out... lord only knows the damage she caused my nail beds. She filled and cut the sides of my thumb nail the point of excruciating pain, leaving some of my nail bed completely exposed and red on the side. My big toe sustained the largest injury. The nail tech doing my toes uncaringly filled my cuticle with the buffing tool as hard as she possibly could. Plus, who in the world thinks it's normal to file someones cuticles! All things said, you are better off having a four year old with scissors doing you manicure. Prepare to leave with injuries and in pain. read more

I don't usually do this but I find it necessary in order for others to avoid this establishment. I've tried many nail salons on Figueroa and most are okay, nothing worth writing a review about. But this particular nail place should honestly be avoided. To get straight to it, they messed up the shape of my nails, pretty bad polish job, nipped off my skin more than once and ended up leaving excess skin along the side of my nails. Hate to say this, but you can find similarly priced nail salons along Figueroa with much better work. read more

1st Rose Nails - Awkward nail shape, pretty bad paint job and stinging cuts along my cuticle! Taken right after walking out the nail salon - Nail Salons Near Me - Los Angeles, California

One of the ladies there is the WORST. She does everything really weird and SLOW! I wish I got her name.. So I came to get a full set. And man, my nails came out really ugly. What a mess. She kept on hurting me by filing my skin! And all my nails are shaped different. Some aren't even covering the whole nail. It's just really bad. Check out my pictures. $25 for this crap?! What a joke. I'm not confrontational so I let it go. I ended up fixing them at my home. But I did want to write this review because I hope you really think twice about this place. read more

So disappointed in this place been coming here since I was just a teenager. But now it's changed completely. Twice they've messed up. First incident around I booked an appointment at 9am drove from far just to get there for Tracey to tell me everything is cancelled one girl called out. Second incident we waited for 45 minutes seeing other people go before us. Just unfair for her to say I'm sorry I thought you just walked in. Unbelievable, I'm so disappointed drove from Beverly Hills just to waste my time. I loved this place so much, but time for new beginnings. They need better management to sign in clients. read more

I was looking for a place to get my nails done for New Years but I knew everywhere would be packed.. so I called ahead to see how long their wait was and to my surprise there was NO wait which was perfect since I was short on time. Entering the lot can be a bit tricky as it's in the middle of the intersection. Walked and was greeted by the owner Tracy, she was very friendly, and she told me where to sit. The place is pretty big and very clean. My full set was done by Vincent and he did a GREAT job.. gave me the perfect coffin shape.. I absolutely LOVE my nails... 10/10 would come back. read more

It was my first time here I am from Brooklyn NY...having a sorority reunion invite California ...needed to do my nails, first they call up on ladies they knew ,I was there first Then the young girl that did my nails cut my skin all around my fingers!!! And was not able to do any art or design she was mean And everything I ask to do even colors was NO OR WE DONT HAVE !! At the end she just left me and someone else finished!!! all I wanted was some designs...I am paying!!!! Terrible place...don't do it read more

I don't know why this nail salon has such bad reviews. I had a great experience. The lady who did my nails, Tracy was amazing. She was very kind, quick and did a great job! Looking for a place to just have a quick gel mani, this is your spot. The place is really clean, has more then enough place for you to get your nails done. The techs are professionals. This is my third time coming here .. I always had a nice experience they do an amazing job at removing your cuticles and cleaning around your toenails . $16 for mani & pedi who can beat that. This place is basic no real foot sink or fancy chair massagers. They are still working on an system ; this system work for them easy & simple plus gets the job well done. Tracy is an awesome nail tech. I would honestly come here more often if it wasn't for the fact that I live downtown la and traffic can be annoying. I prefer this type of places Vs this fancy over priced nail place with bad technicians read more

Man, they missed the mark. The young lady that did my pedicure is obviously new. She took her time taking off my gel polish, okay. Took off the cuticles-okay. Clipped my toe nails way too short -still okay, it happens and I also didn't tell her I only like a slight file. So, gel polish application. Terrible, it's like she's never painted anyone's toes before. The polish kept leaking on the sides so she'd scrape it with her nail, keep in mind its gel. It'll dry bad... so sure enough, it did! I could've done a better job. Only reason I came was because I was in the area and desperately wanted a pedicure since I'm wearing flip flops. Will NOT be returning. Ever. Nail salons as these remind me why I should always stick to my regular place. But now and then, it's nice to give a new place a try. However, this place is mos'def not it! This place doesn't charge much so you definitely get what you pay for. This was my second time going in for acrylic french tip but this time it took about 2 hours, my nails hurt from going in with the drill so much and it wasn't neat. Only like $45 though. read more

I'm not a yelper. This is actually my first review, ever. But please, do not come here! One of my acrylic nails had come off - it was time for a fill anyway - but I don't like fills, so I asked the nail tech to remove them and start fresh. Instead of soaking them in acetone, as you should do to not damage your actual nail, the lady with a bob and blunt bangs grabbed a toe nail clipper and started to yank at my fingers. Even when I yelled, she massaged my hand and continued. I am not a confrontational person, so I bit my tongue. I wasn't even going to write anything, however, it's been five days and two of my acrylics already broke off. One of the nails was crooked, they were different shapes and so thick. The only great thing was that I only paid $30. Still, never going back. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Came here for a full set of coffin nails. Left very disappointed because they are oddly shaped, bumpy and thick. She also kept hurting me while filling the sides of the nails. I came in with a photo for reference. The nails were nude with ombre glitter. She decided to add two additional layers of glitter on each nail that had the nude polish on top. I would have asked her to do it again but that would require her to take off a complete nail add acrylic to the sides of the nails. I was already there for an hr and there where other ladies waiting. On top of all the commotion she was also very sick and coughing everywhere. This is a photo of my nails the same day they were done. read more

I was very excited to try this place out because of its location. I was extremely disappointed with my outcome. I get acrylics nails done every single month so I would like to say I know a good job done. The attendant was so dismissive, and my nails look extremely horrible. Not only did she leave air bubbles on my nails, she did such a sloppy job the polish looks clumpy. I had also asked for a pedicure but was totally dismissed so when she finally was reminded I wanted a pedicure I declined because she had done such a horrible job at my nails. I suggest anyone to go anywhere else in highland park for their nails. read more

Tracy is amazing I just wish she noticed how rude her staff is... Tracy is always busy and doesn't have much time. I've given the other staff chances but they are all so rude and do fast poor jobs. I believe if we pay for a service we should get good service and a good job. I don't like to complain so I have no choice but to take my business elsewhere. Sucks for Tracy to lose customers due do her staff's bad customer service. read more

I'm absolutely in love with this Nail salon . My family has been coming here for 12 years + and have not had any complaints. Tracie the owner is so nice and caring. She always makes me and my family feel so welcomed ... I normally call to make an appointment because she's often busy . But now that there is a new girl KIM who is AWESOME and takes care of me and my nails .. She takes her time and gives the best massage . After a long days of work just being able to come in and you know that the massage on tour feet will make you feel a lot better totally worth my drive since I'm not from this city . Prices are very affordable I remember coming here when main and pedi where 15dollars now they are 20$ which is still affordable compared to other place near this salon . If your near by I would say give this place a try . You won't regret it . You'll be hooked :) read more

I was nervous to try this place because of all of the bad reviews, but it wasn't so bad. I went on a Saturday afternoon and I was helped right away. I got a gel pedicure and gel manicure for $54.
