I recently bought a couch and a chair for my living room from G.K. Department Stores (outlet on Avenue X near East 2nd Street in Gravesend, Brooklyn). The salesperson, Gala, was EXCEPTIONAL as she guided me to an excellent microfiber selection since that's a great choice in a household with cats. (I checked online to confirm everything she said and she was right on target.) She helped me select what would be best in my home. Gala scheduled the delivery for me at my convenience and the delivery team was also EXCEPTIONAL. They assembled the furniture in my home. They were professional and clean and everything was done to my complete satisfaction. In addition, they removed all the packaging boxes and materials upon leaving. My experience was awesome .... and my cats love the new furniture and are NOT scratching it (as Gala had indicated) but are simply resting on it. I recommend this organization highly but be sure to go to see Gala at the Avenue X outlet since that is the location where I made this purchase. read more

Definitely not the fanciest of locations but they served their purpose. I had to get a bed frame on short notice. Mattress Firm did not have any in the store...so I ventured here. They had a metal frame, which I could use to hold me over. I got an awkward look from one of the workers or whomever he was but the guy who got the frame for me was cordial and helpful. I would not purchase furniture here but for a small item, this may be your place. read more

BUYERS BEWARE AND SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND A MAJOR HEADACHE DEALING WITH THIS LOUSY COMPANY!!!!!! Where to begin. We bought a frame and a box spring from the company. The gave us a day and time for delivery. We waited for them and they didnt show up at the time they stated( we know nothing is perfect and stuff happens from time to time). We called their store just to be hung up on. We kept calling back and finally someone answers. We told them the situation and what we ordered and they said they woiuld call uis right back, calling right back turned into 2 hours later. We finally called them back and they gave us the same song and dance (we need to look into whats going on with the drivers and get an ETA) and again said they had to call us back. Another 2 hours past and nothing! We called back againand this time a new person answered and we had to go through the same song and dance with they will call us back but promised they will be there at our house within 30 minutes. Called them back after another hour and no one answered. Had to make arriangements again to be home and miss work for a second day because of their lies and deceit. The next morning when we called they tried use their same bullshit lines again (they really think people are dumb!) with lets us find where the driver is at BLAH,BLAH,BLAH. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

The good reviews of this business must have been written by people they paid or something because this store is downright AWFUL. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this store is a complete and total ripoff. They will quote you one price and then when writing you the receipt charge you another price altogether. In addition, they make false promises about their ability to deliver things on a specified date. I had to hound these guys in order to receive a table and chairs that I ordered, and nonetheless I received them about a week and a half late. The chairs, which are white, came unwrapped and looked dirty and worn, even though I paid $375 and was expecting new furniture. The quality of their products is another downside: you think that they're giving you a deal on new furniture, but when you actually receive your stuff it's all chipped and dirty. See my pictures if you'd like to know what I'm talking about. read more

First off, I'm gonna say that a lot of these positive reviews look a bit fishy. Anyway, their main business model seems to be poaching people walking out of Ashley Furniture and handing them flyers to tell them they can get you the same stuff for cheaper. But lo and behold, they really have no space for a showroom. So they show you books upon books and no pricing information. I get it, you buy from the distributor. But I would rather spend an extra hundred or so across the street to be able to sit on or test out something I'm gonna keep for 5-10 years. One of the sales guys was nice. Another was aloof. But they weren't too pushy. Seems like they're used to seeing people walk out emptyhanded. read more

I ordered my sofa from this furniture store and as was shown on the picture, I expected to be a sofa sleeper. First, the owner, a short man with glasses seemed to be nice and all but when I received my order and wasn't what I expected to be, I called him and went to the store several times and he was ignoring me. After spending at least $3000 on furniture, I surely was very upset of the way he handled my situation. He also asked to pay Cash for it, so he wouldn't charge taxes. My mistake was that i paid in full upfront and wasn't able to get my money back and ended being stuck with something that I didn't order. The customer service is horrible and I would advice you to better order your furniture somewhere. read more

Normally I would not make reviews, but I had an awful experience with this store's delivery people. I was at my friend's house when they showed up to deliver and set up a bed and bed frame. So the first thing, there was a small dress that was in the way that my friend was trying to move. Then the worker took it upon himself to move it and my friend was telling him to not slide it on the floor since they just installed new flooring. Knowing that, what did he do? He slid the dress and there is a 4 inch scratch on the floor. My friend called the owner and they had agreed to lower the cost of the delivery and the worker talked to the owner probably spouting some lie and my friend got back on phone and they said they cannot lower the cost but you can just not tip when they leave. The worker said they work off of tips.... riiiiiight The second thing, which is what mostly gotten me to write this is, I was in the kitchen eating and minding my own business, the worker, came in, looked at me, and first he asked was, "Is there a charger I can use?" Before I was able to response, he said to me "You eat too much." I said, "Excuse me?" and he said "No, no, just kidding" W.T.F. A couple of thing: 1. I have never met this guy in my life 2. He literally asked me for a favor and then insulted me 3. He is on a job, This is the most unprofessional thing I have heard in my life. I confronted him when they were working out the cost at the end. I told him, you come into my (friend's) home and you insult me and we are paying you for a service. He apologized and said he was kidding. I honestly cannot forgive this. He and I are not friends, we have not spoken to each other. This is not something you joke about with anyone. My advice is, don't patronize this place. The service is awful and the owner does not take responsibility for he's worker's actions. read more

Don't ever even stop next to that shitty store !!! I purchased a sofa and was waiting for it for about 2,5 weeks. And then the guy said that your sofa is coming tommorow, I threw all my old stuff away, and on the next day the stupid "boss" told me oh no it's coming tomorrow. Ok, whatever . But sofa came with lost pieces ... and I had to wait another month to get it and set it up. Really ?so of course I cancel that garbage that they sell. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PEOPLE AND STORE. If I could give a zero star that would be my choice. Horrible costumer service, Unprofessionalism. Furious at this service. Paid and didn't get the product. The store manager promises everyday he will deliver and 2 months later NOTHING. Please note before reading this, that despite some of the drawbacks, I'm much happier I went here than Ashley. This is my experience: I went to Ashley across the street because they had an ad for a President's Day special but when i got there I learned that the couch was only available in this ugly color and that it would take a minimum of two weeks to deliver. (I bought my last couch from Ashley and although I got better service, the couch came a bit damaged and they wouldn't take it back.)....anyway, I walk outside and I meet a guy from GK, he negotiates with me and tells me he can sell the same couch for $250 less and do next day delivery, I get suspicious so I check out Jennifer Convertible. Jennifer had the best quality couch and price was about same as Ashley but the lead time was 5 weeks so I decide go back to GK. Ultimately, I did not save the full $250 (he threw in some BS fees once he knew he had me...shoulda negotiated harder) , the couch was not delivered the next day, and the people who put it together for me did a kind of half ass job so one of the arm rests is loose....none the less, I did receive the couch 2 days later (which was way better than Ashley/Jennifer could have done) and I still saved about $100 so I can't complain too much. Also of note, the couch, was not bad quality. The microfiber is good quality and it came with some pillows. Only complaint is that it was a bit lighter than the couches I've seen at Jennifer/Ashley so it moves on my wood floor easily, but overall its not a major issue. read more

SERIOUSLY THIS PLACE SUCKS I bought a sofa set in march and after a month they looked like I had them for six years.. the fabric is a jok, when we sit on them the bottom cushions go all the way down and it hurts the back I had them for 4 months and already in the process of purchasing new ones.. i wanted to get the darcy salsa set and the person that helped me was like i dont recommend they are not all that, yeah 4 months later niether are the ones you did recommend!. read more

My girlfriend and I are so grateful we found this place. After being ignored and not finding what we wanted in several other larger stores, we were fortunate enough to stumble across Fadhel in G.K. Granted, the store is smaller than some others but that soon becomes irrelevant after talking to Fadhel. Not only is he extremely knowledgable about the multitude of products they sell - they rep multiple vendors - (to the point where we described something we saw somewhere else and he finished the product name); but he's also incredibly friendly and sincere. We got exactly what we wanted at an extremely competitive price from a guy who knows his job inside out. I will always return to this store for furniture. I can't recommend Fadhel enough. This is the most unprofessional retail store I've ever seen. They lie to their customers on the time frame of delivery and then tell them they have no choice because the product is Non Refundable if you paid in full even if it's poor quality, or a 25% restocking fee for canceling. The little stupid looking salesman with glasses, who seems to be the owner, doesn't seem to even care if he loses customers to the lies and poor service. Don't put yourself through the nightmare of dealing with these thieves. Pay a little more to guarantee quality and service. read more

Disgusting! I should've learned my lesson the first time we ordered from them. Low quality sofas, a joke of a marble top table. He claimed he wasn't going to charge me delivery, yet the asshole did. Then says if I don't pay his delivery men the exact amount that they are authorized to take back the table and sofas- I'm an idiot because I should have told them to take everything back and bring it back to his shithole of a store! I was in the market for a new bedroom set so of course went to all the big name furniture stores. I already knew what I wanted, but the big name stores were giving me quotes that were way over my budget - and that was with the President's Day Sale. I stumbled upon GK after going to Ashley Furniture and being extremely disappointed with their quote. GK had the set I wanted in one of their MANY catalogs and gave me a price that was not only in my budget, but $850 LESS than what the big name stores were charging. 2 days later my furniture was delivered and assembled. It was in perfect condition and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. read more

If you want to get any furniture at the lowest price - that is the place. I bought everything for my house in last 5 years only from this store.Nobody could compare their prices. I need bedroom - everybody asking $2000-$2500,i took from them for only $1000. I need sofas and loveseats - everywhere was $1700-$2200,i took from them for $1300. I need loveseat sleeper - other stores asked $950,he gave me price $500, I need dining chairs - other try to sell me for $75-$100,i took from him for $50. And other many things i bought from them 30-60% less then other stores offered me. Always free delivery. All of my relatives and friends if they need buy any furniture - ask me his address and phone to buy. He doesn't charge crazy profit like other 100-200% over the price. As i see his profit 20-25%,that's why his prices so low and give you chance to sale a lot. So do not spend your time by looking other stores,he has all furniture catalogs and work with all furniture companies. I see some of negative reviews due to delayed delivery, but you should understand that he is the reseller and usually if the item in stock,he brings to your house in couple business days.If that is not in stock or backordered, then he should wait till warehouse will get it. He never delayed the delivery if the furniture company doesn't delay. Hope my review will help you to save money and post next review as confirmation of my words. read more

I have always been very satisfied with the quality of the furniture and other items that I have purchased from GK Furniture. They don't give you the hard sell and they are out to make you happy with your purchase. Also, the prices are just right if you wish to save a bit when you're purchasing something. Also, they offer excellent delivery service and in my case, often the delivery is same day or next day. Reminiscent of a mom and pop store with attention to the customer a primary goal. I add the both sales persons, Fadhel and Joe, are good to you. They will take into consideration any issues regarding space when you need to buy something that needs to fit perfectly. A++ to them for going the distance. Larry Esposito - a satisfied customer for at least 10 years. Thanks, GK! read more

If I can give negative stars I would I bought a mattress set with guarantee of 5 years exchange policy. Within 1 year the mattress collapsed. I went with my receipt to the store owner. After telling me multiple lies such as the "factory shut down" "we don't do business with them any more" all different excuses finally he said ok I will exchange it. I called for 3 months straight every couple of days asking if he had ordered my mattress he would give another excuse. Final today he told me he has it. I load up my old mattress on my friends car that I borrowed I drive to his store from Staten Island, I get there and he says oh I sold your mattress. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! very friendly when I was ordering although he didn't seem to know what he was doing. when we ordered our dining room set I asked him 3 times if it was pure white not cream he said definitely pure white. he also said he would check them before I drive 2 hours to the store to pick them up. took forever to get them & not only were they cream but he ordered the wrong number of chairs. had to text him pictures of the chairs & he actually tried to argue & say they looked white. they were also wobbly & the seats weren't centered on the chairs & they were just very cheap overall. I asked him to exchange the chairs & get me the right color & right amount when I went to pick them up I brought my original receipt & was told to wait 15 because the guy was "too busy" to talk to me. one was sitting on his phone the other at the computer. after they were able to make time to get the chairs for me they had no idea what chairs I ordered even after looking at the receipt & took them about 20 mins to find the box after I showed them a picture of the chairs. then when I finally got the chairs the boxes were all beat up & ripped like they fell off a truck & they didn't use packaging tape to close it they used scotch tape. new chairs were just as cheap & uneven. overall the worst shopping experience ever, this is why I shop online! read more

I went here just this past Sunday and I am beyond happy with my experience. I walked in and all I knew was I wanted a dope couch and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. The gentleman who helped me was kind and patient and shared in my joy and excitement at my new purchase. He invited me to try out whatever they had out on the floor and offered a variety of colors and styles. Anything he didn't have on hand was available to order. In the end we landed on a perfect sectional priced at only 400 bucks. He told me it would be delivered Wednesday or Thursday. It came Wednesday. And it looked as though the couch would be too big to fit through the door but the delivery guys quickly put my mind at ease fitting the couch perfectly through the door setting it up in my living room and cleaning up all the packaging. Then half the delivery comes and the driver won't leave my house cause I didn't have 75$ cash to pay which they never told me about. I call the owner and he said it must be paid for, I said I would pay the total when the other piece came. I was in a rush. He said the driver won't leave my house without a payment. I didn't trust the owner to give a credit card. So the driver followed me to a bank. My next piece comes 1 week later and was supposed to arrive at 2pm. It comes at 9pm. If your Bat-sense is going off, leave! Let me present the facts. On a Saturday in early January we walked into the store, in search of a microwave oven cart. After searching through a couple of books we found one. Price was reasonable and we were told it would be delivered by Tuesday or Wednesday the following week, assembled, to our daughters apartment on the next corner. Wednesday arrived: no notice, phone call or delivery. When our daughter called she was told it is coming soon. Friday arrived: same results. Following Saturday: Our daughter was told it would be delivered that day. However, by 6 PM, still no follow-up call to schedule a time. Our daughter finally went over to the store and after enduring verbal abuse, took possession of the cart, in the box, and assembled it herself. Bottom line: Price was reasonable, cart looked like the photo in the catalog, promises were unkept. For me service is important and this store did not deliver. read more
