I had the best seafood here in Oban Scotland! A massive ouster is Only 1.2 pound each ! With this market, are you kidding me ??? I had similar oysters in a restaurant downtown Glasgow 12 for 50 pounds ! This is the absolutely the best hands down fresh off the boat seafood you can have in my humble opinion! This place made my dream and thirst for seafood especially oysters come true ! Thank you Oban, Scotland! Please let's all support this business and support the locals ! If I have to recommend anything, This is IT ! If I can give 10 stars I will give a hundred !

Whilst waiting for the ferry to Barra me and my friend decided to get a deluxe seafood platter.. We decided to go for take away as we were soon going to board the ferry, so sat in the car to eat it.. The box contained a whole lobster, 2 crab claws, 2 scallops, 2 langustines, loads of mussels, small prawns, medium prawns, razor clams, clams and calamari.. It also came with two dips and some salad.. All this for just £27.. Total bargain and fresh.. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.. There is also the option to sit in on a wee bench and table.. But be prepared to be rained on.. On my route back I stopped in again and got 3 crab claws (my favourite) the cost was £2.30 they go by weight.. I sat on the harbour wall to eat them which was just prefect and I managed to finish them before the rain started.. This place is a must if you are in Oban..

The back opens out into a cafe which serves freshly cooked breakfast and lunch dishes. Heartening to see such top quality from a Helensburgh establishment which would receive plaudits in the West End of Glasgow. The proprietors clearly have high standards. Situated just round the corner from Helensburgh Central Railway Station, The Buffet Shop is the perfect place to top for tea and a bun while you are waiting for the train. My only complaint is the relatively early closing time of 4pm.

Given the precedent set by waterfront businesses, I fully expected a shop of this name to be a proprietor of sausage rolls and cheese sandwiches, with a range of chipolatas covered in bacon if you were planning a fancy dinner party. Instead what greeted me was a deli which wouldn't look out of place in the swishest areas of the country. With vibrant, friendly and helpful staff, this place is a breath of fresh air for the town and offers some truly sumptuous deli treats, including a fantastic range of freshly made sandwiches. There is also a well presented seated area in which you can enjoy a meal. Indeed the two course lunch deal at 7.95 is astoundingly good value for money and comes highly recommended.

I've been in here a few times for bits and pieces, and the staff are such lovely and pleasant women. They'll give you advice where needed, eg recipes/seasoning, and they'll tell you the best place to get something they don't provide. I went in and got a bag of 30 small prawns for less than a pound and almost fainted. Less than a pound! Excellent quality as well, so it's not like you're paying less for lesser quality. If you want something big/obscure such as a whole crab, or swordfish loin, they won't have it in store but they can order it in for you, which is great!

I used to despise fish. I would refuse to go into the fishmongers with my mum because the smell made me squeamish, and the sight of prawns on my dinner plate saw me recoiling in horror! As I got older though, my fishy distaste started to lessen, and I began to try new things. It took me until I was 21 to try a prawn, which is actually embarrassing! Ever since I tried it though, I have been hooked. I have always preferred white meats and fish to red meat, so my love for prawns really widened my horizons, and made me try more fish. I can now officially say that I love it! I went to Pisces one afternoon on the way home from work to pick up some king prawns. My friends and I were recreating Come Dine With Me, and I was determined to win with my juicy prawn tempura starter, and I had been told that Pisces was the place to come. The fishmonger was extremely nice, de-veining my prawns for me (I'm still a bit squeamish) and even recommending how I cook them. I left with a bag of around ten large prawns, for a very competitive price of under £9. I think he might have even given me a wee discount! Fantastic shop, don't be afraid to ask for cooking tips either, my prawn tempura turned out brilliantly!

We were unable to get a booking Saturday as they were completely booked out days in advance. We decided to get takeaway oysters and smoked salmon, and ate them outside on the picnic tables. Wellllllll the oysters were so good we asked to book lunch the next day. They fortunately had an opening. We came back today and were blown away by the selection and the quality of the food. Again we had 6 fresh oysters, and also the hand dived Shetland scallops with the a black pudding on the side (it is Scottish sausage and I don't eat meat, but the husband does). We also indulged in the Loch Fyne Langoustines. I enjoyed a glass of extra brut Cremant BdB from France. Nice and dry bubbly. Hoooo weeee that was a great lunch! Everything came out quickly and was a nice presentation. The langoustines were served with a side of garlic butter and chips (fries). The food we selected was perfect for two people. If you are in Scotland and you like seafood, make sure to put this place on your list. Best oysters I've ever had. They also have a very nice deli attached with some local gifts. The fresh fish looks amazing. They also sell some snacks like fresh cheese and those oat crackers that are so good.

And they did. Got a salmon sandwich and half-a dozen oysters. Took a seat outside on one of the many tables. Dogs are welcome outside. The salmon was of great quality and the Oysters as excellent as we remembered. Good sized, smooth....creamy. Since we bought them in the shop we had to open them ourselves, but it was manageable. Since the salmon was so delicious we bought to whole packs of them, another 6x oysters, some cheese and black garlic paste. There are other seafood items for sale, cheeses, jams and much more. Staff was friendly and helpful. Toilets in the shop as well. Even though the restaurant was closed, the place was really busy. But the parking lot is huge, so that's no problem. Surely we'll be back when we're in the area next time.
