I like the store, but their selection of Japanese soda has gone down. Used to be one whole shelf but now, it only has half a shelf.

Interesting store. I like to dig, and this is a digger's store- crazy piles of stuff everywhere. If…read moreyou want to browse you will need to move boxes to get to stuff. The inventory is really interesting and deep but it is dirty and a lot of the records are in poor condition. Again, I like to dig, but in these circumstances I don't want to pay boutique prices- they wanted $10-15 for 12" records I can get near-mint on discogs for $5. They should consider charging less considering the amount of labor they are putting on the customer. I pulled out a pile of about 20 records but put back 10 because they were scratched and skipped out on 9 more because I could get them cheaper elsewhere. Came out with one record and filthy fingers. No regrets, but I probably won't come back. Nice people though!

I was only able to be in the space about 5 minutes before I felt too claustrophobic and had to leave. There are thousands and thousands of records, cassettes, 8 tracks, CDs, and audio equipment everywhere in this store however - almost like a hoarder house there are pathways carved out of these records and you have to one foot in front of the other carefully walk through without tripping. In the case of an emergency (god forbid) I wouldn't want customer or employee alike to be placed in a bad situation because of how unmanaged and chaotic this establishment is.

In response to the guy who was upset about Music Matters not holding a record for him on Record…read moreStore Day - I too called Music Matters to request that they hold a Record Store Day (RSD) single for me and then mail it, but they explained to me that their RSD contract stated that they could not hold records, and that they would lose the right to get RSD limited edition records if they did. So, as much as I wanted that single, I completely understood their policy. I know now I have to drive to St. Augustine to wait in line! I want to say something else about Music Matters. In an age where record stores are becoming extinct, and online retail overwhelms, Music Matters is not just a music "shop," it is a cool, friendly place to hang out, with people who are knowledgeable, and care about you finding that one record you have been looking for, or turning you on to new music in a favorite genre that you didn't even know about, something that you cannot experience with a computer (sorry Siri). And where else can you immediately buy the music you were jonesing for? Even Amazon hasn't come up with immediate gratification delivery! Check this store out!

Stopped in here after a disappointing visit to another record store in the area…read more We were only there for a short time but a couple of observations led to my 4 star review. 1) the staff was going through a large amount of records right near the front door. I'm not saying that's a negative, it's actually quite a positive. Even through the 3 of them were going through a big collection, they still stopped to help us. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because of how I personally shop for records. I'm not what you'd call a crate digger. If you are, then you'll love this place. I know there are many, many crate diggers out there. Just wanted to mention it not being my style in case anyone else wanted to know what to expect. We picked up a couple of records while we were there, so it was a good visit. It helped make up for the other place in town that we stopped first.
