My last visit to Atlantic Sounds was back in 1990 when I was attending school in Daytona Beach, so returning 36 years later absolutely blew my mind. I could not believe how much the store has expanded over the years, including an annex two doors down that houses thousands of CDs. The amount of inventory here is almost overwhelming in the best possible way. As a music collector, it honestly felt like I had died and gone to heaven. No matter what genre you enjoy, there is an incredible amount to explore. I was especially excited to find a large selection of leftover Record Store Day titles, including two rare releases that I was thrilled to add to my collection. I also came across many original pressings of 1980s LPs and 12" singles, along with a huge number of CDs in the annex, including several out-of-print titles that are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Everywhere I looked, there were hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Atlantic Sounds is the kind of record store where you could easily spend an entire day -- or several days -- browsing and still not see everything they have to offer. I am so glad to see how much they have grown and expanded since my last visit. It remains an absolute paradise for music lovers and collectors. read more

One of the largest collections of new and old vinyl i've ever seen in one shop. Mike was so nice and showed us the layout of the store right when we entered and is clearly very passionate about music and preserving physical forms of media! The vinyls were all priced at a fairly regular rate compared to other store, the sheer volume of vinyl offered was what truly sold me though. I will absolutely be back! read more

It is good to see vinyl making a comeback. It seemed for quite awhile that the shift in the music industry towards downloads and a more impersonal approach to getting your music would kill all of the record stores. I am sure many fell to this trend. However, some have survived and hopefully will continue to see increased success as today's generation embraces what for me what such a great part of my rebellious youth, seeking out new records and bands in the record store. Growing up in Edison, New Jersey, we had a lot of great record stores. Of course, we had the national chains, but the independent record stores were where you could find the underground records. Stuff like thrash metal that the national chains just overlooked. I have spent quite a bit of time at this one. It is located on International Speedway Boulevard and has a great selection if records. I definitely would recommend here. Keep record stores in business, buy CD's or vinyl, keep music alive. read more

I surprised my mom with a record player for Christmas mainly because of this wonderful record shop! She had been wanting a record player for quite some time but just never made the buy. I remembered we had this gem located in Daytona off International and made the leap. We recently relocated back to the area and where we were living didn't have a record shop. I decided to give it to her early but also take her shopping to get her own records. The gentleman here are extremely helpful and know where everything is. They know bands, artists, live concerts and so on. The wealth of musical knowledge is outstanding! We will shop here for all of our record needs. They even have cds and tape cassettes if you can remember those lol. They also sell posters, old record players and an assortment of other musical needs. read more

Atlantic Sounds is downright awesome, and pure heaven for those looking for older or rare vinyls, DVD's, CD's or promotional posters. The collection is beyond belief but what it better is the proprietor, Michael. Michael is literally a walking encyclopedia of legendary or historical music and knows where everything within the store is located. I've been to a lot of so-called "vinyl stores" but have never seen a gem like Atlantic Sounds. So if you are looking for something rare, historic or legendary in recorded music, this is the place. I visited again the other day and was not disappointed. They have a great selection for great prices. The staff is awesome - very knowledgeable. I love places like Virgin Megastore just because of its huge size and selection but there are very few cozy music stores like Atlantic Sounds left; so take advantage of it. read more

I visited this shop with my family and everyone loved it. It is full of old (and new) records (and CD's, if that's your thing). Tons and tons of them. If you had the time you could probably spend hours here sifting through the boxes. Actually, there were a couple customers who looked like they were doing exactly that, sitting on the floor pouring over boxes of records. We were looking for something completely random, I think it was Jim Croce, or some other 1970's awesomeness, and we had no hope of finding that on our own. My husband asked one of the employees (an older guy, we suspect he's the owner). He was able to find it right away. Plus, it was really inexpensive, just a few bucks. Awesome. I'm sure we'll stop in here whenever we are in the area. It's a cool shop to explore. read more

Great place; awesome huge collection! Not sure why ppl are negative about the Owner; just ask him what u are looking for...American shoppers are used to the "attack mode" of sales ppl. He's mellow, cool & willing to help. Love all the memories this place causes me to have...vinyl everywhere! I both collect for the album and for the sound of the music. Primarily Jazz & Blues greats. Of course, not all OLD vinyls are going to be free of scratches or warp; know what to expect for yourself. Vinyl heaven on earth. I'm from Jacksonville but spend a lot of mini vacations in the Flagler/Ormand/Daytona area. We've been coming to Atlantic Sounds for years and make it a part of our trip to stop by and pick up a couple of gems. The first time I walked in I felt at home. Instantly. The selection is incredible and so well priced. The employees are very knowledgable and can point you in the direction of any vinyl or CD imaginable. It's a collectors dream. There is vintage and modern, new and used, and it's a place you could spend hours browsing. The owner is always so wonderful and loves to stop and talk and chat about music and the people who comes into contact with at his business. It's such a relaxing atmosphere. awesome vinyl collection at moderate prices. unfortunately, i deducted two stars because i have stomach issues that are unfortunately uncontrollable. while i was shopping, one of my dreadful episodes hit and asked if they had a bathroom that i could use. the response was "not much of one. we do, but i don't recommend using it." at this point, i would have used ANYTHING. sadly, they were pretty persistent in their refusal to let me use their bathroom. therefore, we left empty handed and did not return. read more

I am a music collector. This place is the only one in this area, so you are pretty much at the mercy of it. Positives: The new stuff on vinyl is usually available, there's some cool items if you search, and some of the people you bump into are fun to discuss music with. Negatives: Don't even think about knowing the actual price of items before you buy them. Some of the stuff is marked with prices. But if you dig out some of the older albums, cd's, the owner will price them on the fly, and he will rake you over the coals if he thinks he has something special. I know people gotta stay in business, but you don't want to drive your regular customers away over making an extra buck. I prefer to do my album shopping in other locations or on the internet. I don't care if I pay more or less, I just don't do business in this store any longer, due to the aforementioned situation. I got the bad end of several purchases. Gotta be careful when buying vinyl, folks. read more

Booked mark this record store since we planned our trip all the way from LA. Got to say owner Michael was a sweetheart told us 'bout 2 rooms he has awesome stuff he has there. We purchased a total of 23 vinyl records. Prices were great. We wouldn't have gotten them this cheap @ amoeba. I fell in love with this record store. Great place for old records and hard to find vinyl and CDs. Mike is great owner and gives great advice. Prices are fair and records are in good condition. Be nice and maybe you can see the vault! Seen a few complaints about the owner, all I can say is, that wasn't my experience. Guy seemed very friendly and courteous. Maybe my experience was unique, maybe he's been working on the personality, or maybe some of these reviewers are jerks - no clue.
