Loaded nachos, $6.99, were good. I was glad to find a place open late after the movie.

I like lots of things about this place. I wish I'd started coming here sooner after I got into town. First they're open late so it's a great place to go after a movie that lets out late. Second, they serve breakfast all day and have migas on the menu so if I want an afternoon breakfast I can come here. They're really good also. Third, they've got a $2 beer. Also, the nachos are great and the most recent thing I tried here was the grilled mahi tacos which were excellent. They're not chintzy with the cilantro either and I love cilantro so I appreciate that. The people that take your order have always been super nice. The prices are great. It's not a fancy place, it's just a comfortable place.

The bar service was excellent. Loved the margaritas! The nachos were fantastic! We shared half a shredded chicken and half beef. My friend enjoyed the beef, but the chicken was satisfying. Love the cheese sauce.

I'm surprised that there are low reviews for this place. I have visited a few times while in Amarillo and had the best experience. The waitresses were kind, the food was delicious and the wait times were never long. Even when I couldn't finish my food, they were ready to have it boxed up nicely for me to bring home. Please do come often! The butt burning salsa wasn't all that spicy, but I did get a kick out of its name!

The tacos here are very meh. The guacamole is good though. I like the dual bar set up as well.

Cold order wrong. Not sure if I'll be back. Fish taco looked like they broke up a fish stick and put it in a tortilla. GROSS!!!!

Good taco, cheap tacos on Tuesday, beer was nice and cold, and they honor military along with first responder personnel.

Tacos Garcia was suggested to me by a local coworker. Our hotel was fairly close by so, why not? We…read morearrived around 7:30 and were promptly seated. We were brought individual flights of salsa to go with the chips. My michelada hit the spot. Was it the best? No. But it scratched the itch. I couldn't decide on what to eat. Until I saw green chili stew and asado. I moved away from Midland in 2015. You don't really find asado away from West Texas. The music wasn't too loud and the lighting wasn't too bright or too dim. Overall, we enjoyed our meals. I'll likely stop back in the next time I'm in town.

We ordered queso and they brought us a little cup because they were out and said they weren't going to charge us for it. We ordered our food and it took forever to get to our table and both of our dishes were cold. We advised the manager that it was taking a long time and she said fish tacos do take a while, but they were also cold. When I told her my food was cold, she took my plate and said I guess you want me to take this from you, asked my friend how her food was. My friend said OK but my tacos are cold and she said she'll comp her meal and then I was brought a ticket for just drinks. No offer to fix anything or get us hot food. The waitress even said they put the avocado on the wrong plate but didn't offer to fix it. I will not go back

Visiting my girlfriend and her family in Amarillo led me to trying some of their favorite places in…read morethe city. My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball.
