Charming and cozy restaurant with a variety of soups, Asian fusion style food serving lunch,…read moredinner, alcohol, homemade coffee and freshly baked desserts. *Great spot if you're dining on a budget, since Zürich is not a cheap place to dine or stay. Many specialties on the menu, I ordered: Tom Kha Gai: Thai soup with fresh chicken, mushrooms, baby corn, string beans and green bell pepper. This is non spicy Mulligatawny: Indian curry soup with fresh chicken and baked apples. Topped with dried saffron. Comes with vasnati rice. Comes with basmati rice. I read their "Spring Specials" Board and saw the Karotten Suppe and decided to sit for a spell and enjoy a bowl of one of my favorite soups. As the name suggests, Zoup - they sorta specialize in soups I suppose, (as well as other things I'm sure) with seasonal offerings/variations. I initially wanted carrot and ginger but I opted for the carrot-mango-orange variant. What's cool is that they offered to add some fresh ginger in as well. Win! Win!! In addition to my soup, I also ordered a Panache which is just a beer with a lime soda topper that's pretty refreshing. The staff was very courteous and helpful as well as linguistically patient with me as we both tried to communicate with one another. The ambiance is traditional Cafe European with a nice airy seating area to people watch without feeling like people are on top of you. So, if you are in Zurich and a soup person then this is the place for you.

It was busy, and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. The veal cordon bleu was to die for, and the potato salad was honestly the best I had on the entire trip. One funny thing: the water was more expensive than the beer and soda, but that seems pretty typical in Switzerland! The restaurant itself has so much history and great atmosphere. The inside was a little loud for us, so we sat outside, which we really enjoyed. Just be prepared to share a table with another couple if you sit outside -- that's pretty common in Switzerland. I'd absolutely come back. Great food, historic charm, and such a fun local experience.

The building used to store weapons and ammunition, so it has an appropriate name as zeughaus means "storage warehouse". We didn't have a reservation but went right when the restaurant opened and were seated immediately. The wienerschnitzel was a thin veal cutlet that was good; we got ours with potato salad which is a popular dish and I enjoyed. The alpine macaroni is a local delicacy so I wanted to try it; it was a little more liquidy than others that I'm normally accustomed to but I still liked it. I also liked the sweet onions paired with it. It's centrally located around many popular attractions in Zurich making it a good spot to check out for lunch and dinner. Beware it can be very busy and you might have to share a table with others, and when it's busy it might help to have a reservation or you might wait a while for a seat.

Love, love, love the Raclette Factory…read more Really wanted to have another Raclette experience while in Switzerland. The first was in Lucerne and we loved it! Walked to the Raclette Factory from our hotel. Sat at a community table with a family from Argentina. They were so sweet. Their eleven year old was so animated and his parents were the sweetest. Fun to talk to them about travel, our mutual love of rollercoasters and science and the recent World Cup. The son loves Lamine Yamal. The dad is Team Messi. Our waiter, Flavio, made the evening our best choice. We really wanted to try a lot of different cheese flavors and combinations, so we had the Raclette All You Can Eat. Choose a couple of cheeses. Plain. Smoke. Garlic. Chili. White Wine. Red Wine. Blue cheese. Goat. Sheep. Truffle. Add toppings. It comes with pickles and pearl onions. Pickles and melted Raclette cheese. Unbelievably delicious. Add more toppings. Small potatoes, bread or mashed potatoes. So good! Started with the truffle and the red wine with the works, potatoes, mashed potatoes and cubes of bread. The truffle was my favorite of the cheeses and both the mashed potatoes and small potatoes were delicious. I think at the end we tried all of the cheeses but the original. We were stuffed!! Thank you to Flavio who really made our experience at the Raclette Factory a highlight of our visit to Zurich. Service was amazing and he gave us great recommendations. Definitely a night to remember.

Raclette is a dish of melted cheese over potatoes or bread. Which is very good, just extremely rich! I'm from Wisconsin, so I'm all about cheese, but this was a lot! The prices are very high for what you are actually eating, and we almost order the 'all you can eat" option, because it seemed like a good deal. So glad we didn't, because I would have had a tough time trying to eat another pile of melted cheese! We did order the "world best" garlic bread, which was good, but only average... not the world's best!

After seeing bun rieu (crab noodle soup) on the menu, I was excited as it's one of my favorite noodle soups! Being in the middle of Europe, I went in with low expectations. The toppings and accompanied veggies and herbs were lacking, but I'd expected it. What I was not expecting was how authentic the flavors were! The broth had that crab and shrimp paste flavors and they even had the authentic soft and creamy crab paste which not too many restaurants get it right. My husband had the bun bo hue, the same dish he had at the other restaurant, Saigon, from 2 nights earlier. He preferred the other restaurant's BBH over at SG. I liked the flavor of the broth at Pho Mai better, but the toppings were better at SG's. Instead of beef shank, Pho Mai used rare beef steak (typically used for rare stead pho). Overall the flavors for both dishes were well done. If they'd just put a little more effort in putting in more toppings (especially for the BBH as it always come with multiple proteins aside from beef slices) it would take this restaurant to another level. But I can understand why they'd cut corners as their menu is quite extensive with many dishes and it seems they're also short-staffed.
