Love, love, love the Raclette Factory. Really wanted to have another Raclette experience while in Switzerland. The first was in Lucerne and we loved it! Walked to the Raclette Factory from our hotel. Sat at a community table with a family from Argentina. They were so sweet. Their eleven year old was so animated and his parents were the sweetest. Fun to talk to them about travel, our mutual love of rollercoasters and science and the recent World Cup. The son loves Lamine Yamal. The dad is Team Messi. Our waiter, Flavio, made the evening our best choice. We really wanted to try a lot of different cheese flavors and combinations, so we had the Raclette All You Can Eat. Choose a couple of cheeses. Plain. Smoke. Garlic. Chili. White Wine. Red Wine. Blue cheese. Goat. Sheep. Truffle. Add toppings. It comes with pickles and pearl onions. Pickles and melted Raclette cheese. Unbelievably delicious. Add more toppings. Small potatoes, bread or mashed potatoes. So good! Started with the truffle and the red wine with the works, potatoes, mashed potatoes and cubes of bread. The truffle was my favorite of the cheeses and both the mashed potatoes and small potatoes were delicious. I think at the end we tried all of the cheeses but the original. We were stuffed!! Food was good and so was the service. Our waitress helped us through the menu, which was very helpful because we had no idea what Raclette actually was, or how to order it! Raclette is a dish of melted cheese over potatoes or bread. Which is very good, just extremely rich! I'm from Wisconsin, so I'm all about cheese, but this was a lot! The prices are very high for what you are actually eating, and we almost order the 'all you can eat" option, because it seemed like a good deal. So glad we didn't, because I would have had a tough time trying to eat another pile of melted cheese! We knew we needed CHEESE before leaving Switzerland, and we knew we liked Raclette, so this seemed like a good fit. We were introduced to raclette by a French friend who even gifted us a heating unit, so we were not expecting to just be served a plate with some bread cubes, 2 potatoes, a couple of pickles & onions, with a bunch of melted cheese on top. Pretty underwhelming. That being said, the food was good. We had plain, garlic, smoke, and white wine cheese - the most noticeable was the white wine. The others were pretty much the same to us. Ordered the Make Your Own Raclette with Garlic and Smoked Cheese, mashed potatoes, and bacon. Order came out really quick. I would have to say the first few bites were amazing, cheesy goodness with mashed potatoes and bacon, who can complain? But I would say, halfway through the meal, the cheese and bacon were getting too much. The cheese was getting too salty and the bacon was too greasy. My family wanted to try Swiss cheese dishes during our time in Switzerland, and Raclette Factory provided the perfect introduction to Swiss cuisine that we were looking for. As it was our first time eating raclette, we asked our server to walk us through the menu. Lily was exceedingly helpful in explaining the differences in cheeses and their flavors, and she was also very attentive and checked in on us throughout the meal. I noticed that her welcoming demeanor was also shared by her colleagues who were waiting on the other tables around us. My family took Lily up on her recommendations, and we ordering one Klara and one Willi, each with a side of sausages, as well as one original tarte flambé and one vegi tarte flambée. The food was all very delicious!! My personal highlights from the meal were the sausage dipped in the Willi cheese along with the onions and potatoes that were served with the dish. The tartes also had very thin, yummy crusts topped with raclette cheese. The side of pickles provided a tangy contrast to the rest of the meal which I liked. We ended our meal with a warm chocolate cake and lemon sorbet. I'm not really one for alcohol, so I found the vodka in the sorbet to be a bit too strong for me. However, the chocolate cake with the jam and vanilla ice cream was very good and had just the right amount of chewiness. I wish that I could replace my local Cheesecake Factory with a Raclette Factory instead so that I could enjoy Swiss cheese melted over bread, sausages, and potatoes all the time. I did garlic and truffle cheese. Both were delicious. I also added bacon, which was a great choice. The service was very good. They have some nice outdoor and indoor seating options and quite close to the water. This was my favorite restaurant and meal in Zurich! Caters to tourists more than locals I imagine but I enjoyed the friendly staff and excellent service. They accept reservations for parties of two or more. As a solo traveler I was unable to make a reservation but had so issue getting a table at 6:30pm. However, do note by about 7 they were very busy! Book ahead if you can but if not, no worries! They guarantee a table within 15 minutes sans reservations. Anyhow, the raclette was so yummy! They had a variety of options but I kept simple with the Heidi plate and a glass of Swiss white wine. The plates felt large and fairly priced. I even indulged in the lava cake dessert which was amazing! You can't refuse Swiss chocolate! If you're visiting Zurich, I recommend a meal here! The sausages with the meal were a bit of a low point as they were *also* bland (especially) and fairly tasteless. That Patty not recommended. The service tended to be fairly prompt in the taking of the order, and the implementation took a fairly long time but I can't tell where we were in the order queue for the kitchen and it was about lunchtime. Tonight we thought we'd try Raclette. And we were not disappointed. Unlike fondue which you have to prepare yourself, our plates came prepared. I had the Klara which is a combination of the Heidi and Peter. The Heidi comes with potatoes, the Peter comes with bread. My wife had the Heidi. She had hers with bacon whereas I added sausage. The portions are filling without you making feel a bit "heavy" from just eating cheese and loved the different options you could choose. The plate comes out with pickles, potatoes and bread. The cheese was good quality and tasted great. The Pizza with crème fraiche and onions was good as well and nice and crispy. The Beers were nice and cold as well. All in all, a great place. Met a wonderfully cheery and adorable waitress named Sophie here, and she made a world's difference on my Christmas Eve as I solo traveled across the world over the holidays. In a country where German is the dominant language, it was so nice to find a fellow English-native to speak with as I tried their raclette. Sophie recommended creating my own custom raclette with the truffle and smoked cheeses and their famous garlic bread, which is exactly what I did. It was very fresh and the cheese was so stringy and gooey upon serving. If only I hadn't been recovering from food poisoning, I probably would have enjoyed the raclette itself more, but it was too heavy for me that evening.
