We had a long layover in Zurich so went into town and got some fondue. Sat outside since we read that many other fondue places that doesn't have outdoor seating will make you smell like cheese, and we didn't want that! Besides the perk of outdoor seating, the fondue was very delicious and bubbling hot when served and we also got some local house white wine and it was very good too! Our meal came out to about $71 Swiss francs which is about $90 USD
Service was awesome and they took good care of us in serving beers and wine. The fondue was really good and we had one of each for 5 of us. My fav was the mushroom, but I really wanted to like the truffle/mushroom. Cute little place near Geossmünster cathedral. Only issue we had was when we ordered veggies to dip in the fondue they steamed them overdone. Otherwise, a really great place for some authentic Swiss fondue!
The service and phenomenal , the staff was very friendly and helpful. I got the fondue and it was delicious , so glad we were able to experience this while in Switzerland! Several locals recommended this to us and I can see why. Reservations were needed for our party of 6. If doing the fondue as an entrée I recommended adding a meat.
First, I highly recommend making a reservation. There were a bunch of groups waiting even before it opened. Second, we are tourists and came here for the fondue. This was a recommended place by many. We ordered the regular cheese and it came with pieces of bread. My family and I didn't really like it, to be honest. It didn't really taste like cheese, and more like alcohol. It was 30 euros per person. Lastly, the service and ambience were great. If I came here again I'd order something else.
Called the restaurant around 7:30pm as we didn't have a reservation, and they said come over and they would work us in. Met Marcello (sp) at the door, a very jovial and welcoming soul, and he took our name down. You could tell there was a good mix between locals and tourists waiting for tables. Within 20 minutes we were being seated inside the larger room which was very full and the tables were very close together, yet the vibe was like one big party. Great ambiance! Our server Antonio greeted us with a warm smile and could tell of German was limited. He spoke great English, and suggested some great wine choices. We ordered the Fondue they are know for and he brought out the huge pot with a large basket of pieced bread. Wine was good, Fondue was great, although they need to have a smaller size, as it was A LOT of cheese between the two of us. We also ordered the Gerkin pickles with pearl onions and the ROSTI which gave us a flavor of our own beloved hash browns we enjoy in the US. The evening was a fun, new experience and we even ordered dessert, which was an ice cream dish with crispy raspberry type fried balls. To say the least, we were stuffed as we left and used the window shopping in that area to walk off all that tasty fare. Highly recommend this establishment, and especially Antonio. Great restaurant for larger parties that can share the massive amount of fondue.
So as we were preparing for our trip to Zurich, I started looking at some of the cuisines I wanted to make sure we enjoyed. On this list was definitely Fondue because we are in Zurich after all. I asked the hotel to make a reservation and we made our way over for our 18:00 reservation where we were promptly greeted. I will say the service was absolutely great and our server was friendly, humorous, and very helpful throughout the meal. The décor was nice and "homey" inside and it was a very cozy setting. We ordered a bottle of vino (really solid) which was priced very reasonably. After a glance through the menu, we decided to get the sliced veal "Zurich style" and the traditional cheese fondue (serving for one person) including the pickles and the potatoes on the side. The wine was out very quickly and then a basket of bread (broken into pieces) provided for the fondue. As a quick side note, it seems they do offer re-fills for bread as we were offered but declined when we had wrapped up the fondue part. The fondue itself was delicious and not as "heavy" as I thought it would be. The cheese was great and the texture was perfect for dipping the potatoes and bread. The cheese felt like a very deep complexity and blend which was great. The veal was also great. Very tender and the sauce (gravy?) was complimentary to the meat. This was a really solid meal in Old Town Zurich. I am glad we gave it a shot and definitely would recommend for folks looking for that fondue experience.
Deceptively large restaurant compared to the quaint entrance on a cobblestone side street. A big focus on fondue, which seems to attract a large tourist crowd. Although the fondue is really tasty, try to sample some of the Vaudois dishes since they're quite unique for the Eastern part of Switzerland. Malakoff Vaudois Sur Salade (Cheese Dough Sticks with Salad): Having read about malakoff as an interesting food to try in Switzerland, I was determined to find some in Zurich. Thankfully this place offers quite a few Vaudois specialties, which are otherwise hard to come by in this part of Switzerland. Saying it's like a mozzarella stick doesn't really do it justice since the cheese is so much more complex. Very intense actually, so worked perfectly against the semi-bitter greens and tart salad dressing. Also, batter around the cheese is more bread-like almost like it's a pão de queijo on the outside. Quite memorable and delicious! Notre Fondue au Fromage (Cheese Fondue): Yes, fondue is a must at least once during your visit to Switzerland. Even if it's not winter, a big pot of melted cheese will taste delicious on a summer evening too. And extremely filling! Didn't order any thing extra to dip, just stuck with the default bread cubes and it was fine. Really got appreciate the complex blend of cheeses which have so much more personality than fondue found in the U.S.
Place to go for traditional fondue doesn't disappoint. Healthy portions and definitely tasty. Combo with dried meat plate and fruit salad came out to $73.91 after tax and tip including an annoying 4 CHF charge for tap water.

It's a gem. Big place nestled in a quiet alley, but make sure you have reservations because they're very popular. Went there twice in a row and both times were packed but they are not extremely touristy despite the location. It totally makes sense because their food is THAT good. They're serving serving traditional Swiss dishes like fondue & herb sausages (which are amazing). The place is charming and the staff is very cheerful. Their fondue is very good and not as "heavy", you can see there's a complex depth of flavors working their magic. The veal pieces are cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce is to die for, so I mopped the plate with the amazing bread they serve. It's not the cheapest meal you'll have but I think the price is pretty reasonable.
After a most amazing meal in Interlaken the evening before, it was hard to compare this. I think it was a decent meal... but no one I'd repeat. It's in the old town tourist area, but it wasn't too crowded. We got the fondue pleasure meal 1 and 2- in order to try a variety. Food was plentiful and price reasonable for the location. The cheese fondue was by far the best. The meat tray was quite nice as well. The beef fondue was fine- I'm not a huge fan of cooking my meat in oil (but it was fun to try). The deserts could have gone away - the pear ice cream was in a very strong liquor (not to any of our tastes).
This place was so wonderful! It was a our first fondue experience in Switzerland. It was very busy and they still seated us immediately. It was a cozy but large space. They used their space very well to allow a lot of customers. We got the traditional fondue with bread and a side of rosti with cheese. The fondue itself was wonderful but we are biased because it was our first one in Switzerland. The rosti was okay. It really would taste better without the extra cheese on there. Overall, if you're in the area, I highly suggest this place!!! read more
Amazing experience tonight at this place. Had both the traditional cheese fondue and the beef bouillon fondue. Cheese with the bread they serve is amazing. The beef, Veal and chicken worked awesome in the bouillon. Desserts were amazing as well. Had the Pear Sorbet with Pear Williams liquor poured into it. So tasteful. So worth coming to this place. The service is on top it it all. Our guy killed it. read more

This was our first Swiss fondue experience and it was truly amazing! We got the truffle cheese fondue which was delicious. The service is great and our waiter was super nice. Would definitely recommend! read more

Very charming and cozy Swiss restaurant tucked away in the old town shopping area. It's right next to a church and off the main walking area. My husband and I shared the traditional fondue with added potatoes, and each got a drink. It's very expensive; €78 for our meal; but you won't find anything less in Zurich. Fondue is a must, and this place did not disappoint; just be prepared for the cost. read more
It ain't the fancy high-priced joint on the Lake Zurich Canal. It's better. Lots of German Swiss locals and people who enjoy fondue...eating, drinking and chillin in here. As for me, I love the Swiss red wine, prompt and friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, and of course the cheese fondue with the best bread. The fondue is so flavorful and gooey and yummy and tasty and deelish...you get it. The bells of the Cathedral right outside give this spot legit local Zurich flavor. Be like Louis R. Travel to Switzerland. Or at least read my reviews so you can kinda know wassup. This spot. That's wassup. read more
What a gem in Zurich! Believe it or not, we had just one night in Zurich (actually the last night of our European vacation) and decided to go into the Zurich Marriott to talk to the Concierge to ask the question, with just one night in Zurich and looking to dine at a local casual Swiss restaurant where would you recommend? Le Dezaley was the response, and Le Dezaley it was! Not that I didn't rely on Yelpers to help with this important question, the simple truth was there were so many good restaurants to choose from, I sought a local to break the tie. Five stars hands down! Service was excellent! Our server Tisch was attentive, super friendly, made great recommendation for our fondue dinner and surperb tasting wine to go along with it! If you never tried a glass of Lune Blanche AOC Vaud - Les Freres Dubois S.A., I highly recommend it. Ron ordered the Aigle Les Murailles AOC Chablais - H. Badoux, Aigle and loved it. We started with with a mixed salad which we shared and was a good size to do so. Then we had the Kasefondue. This was cheese heaven if ever to be! It is served with tid bits of crusty French bread which the cheer stuck to like glue. The taste was out of this world and cheese was hot and bubbling. As an American, I am sure there were many other delectables one would serve to immerse in tasty cheese, but enjoying the European delight of wine, bread and cheese all I can say is wa la! For our main course we ordered the Fondue Plausch which was lean filet mignon and oh so tender. The atmosphere int he restaurant is warm and inviting which even extends to the patio and If I can say this was one of the cleanest restrooms I have ever been in at a restaurant - worth mentioning. If ever we find ourselves back in Zurich, I would defiantly return to Le Dezaley and if this is your opportunity, do go; I'm quite certain that you will not be dissatisfied, just know that a meal can be quite pricy. read more

Thank you Yelp! When I was in Zurich, I was looking for a fondue restaurant and via yelp, stumbled into this one. I had fondue twice in Zurich and I would say this one was better. The sausage and the meat/oil fondue was lacking, but hey, I only really wanted FONDUE!!! This restaurant also had the option of adding potatoes and other veggies for the fondue. One of my travel companions ordered sausage with a side of fries. Fries + a hot pot of melting cheese... OH YEA!!! This restaurant is HIGHLY recommended!!! You'll be silly to order anything but Fondue! read more

The fondue was delicious. However, everything else was very unimpressive. Service was terrible and slow. The waiter was rude and inattentive. He kindly brought us bottles of water that we did not order...when the bill was brought we learned they cost 5.90 each! The fondue took over 45 minutes to arrive. The meal was very expensive. HOWEVER, the cheese fondue was great. So, if you don't mind terrible service and love cheese, it might be worth your while. It was for me. read more

The best fondue I have ever had. Truly authentic. Cute little back courtyard. The house white wine was also a great pair. We also ordered a meat fondue that was good as well. The service was fantastic and I truly loved it. I would love to go back as soon as possible. read more

This is a hidden gem and I highly recommend this aged restaurant off the cobblestones of Old Town Zurich which serves a traditional cheese fondue - we also dined on the risotto and huge fresh garden salad. Our waiter had been serving there for over 30 years and he knew how to take care of us. It was our last night and make sure you sit in the garden part under the foliage canopy. read more

I did some research for good restaurants in Zürich to have cheese fondue and Le Dezaley was mentioned as one of the best in town. Being fondue one of my favorite dishes and must-eat when I'm in Switzerland, I've had many over the last few years and sadly, the fondue at Le Dezaley really did not impress me. I might be wrong, but I also had the impression that this is a restaurant for tourists willing to taste one of the most famous Swiss dishes rather than a place for locals. Or perhaps locals just don't have fondue in Zürich and they wait until they do somewhere in the mountains. read more

We came to this restaurant because someone recommended the fondue there. We had cheese fondue to share and it was perfect! We also ordered an appetizer of pickled corn and other vegetables. Everything was tasty and served quickly! read more

Our wonderful Waiter, Mark, who works at Bindella in Old Town, recommended Le Dezaley for the best authentic Swiss Fondue experience. He was right. He even called them and made reservations for us. Thank you to Mark at I'm happy that he did, because even on Tuesday night, the restaurant filled up quickly. There are so many good things to say about Le Dezaley. First of all, we showed up before they were officially open, but the entire happy and friendly staff did not hesitate to welcome us, hang up our coats and seat us at the perfect table. Our Waitress (Tressa-sorry if I miss-spelled your name) was really fun. She gave us the perfect recommendations for menu choices. The Fondue is an old family recipe and it is so good! The family recipe Fondue was so tasty, not too thick or heavy, but creamy and flavorful. The menu had lots of choices. We were told that traditional Swiss Fondue, unlike our Americanized version, is served with bread. Just in case you are on a low carb diet, they throw in a bowl of adorable little potatoes as well. Also, disappointingly, we found out that there is NO Chocolate Fondue for dessert at any respectable authentic Fondue restaurant. Seems like a great invention for a Chocolate producing country...but I guess nobody thought it would be good -LOL. Tressa suggested the Apple Fritters and the Chocolate Mousse, which were both yummy! I've been told to always check out the cleanliness of a restaurant's bathroom at a restaurant, as it is a true reflection of the kitchen's cleanliness. Good news- Le Dezaley got an A+ ! . read more
