Feels like an authentic Swiss/German restaurant

A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. We had the fondu and schnitzel. Very good. Laid back atmosphere.

A wonderful evening out for us. Thankfully they were able to handle a group of 10 the same day. Delightful am since, great service and the cheese fondue was superb. Unfortunately they didn't have gluten free bread available but the potatoes were fantastic. The non gluten sensitive of us enjoyed both potatoes and bread in the fondue. The wine prices were quite good - 7chf for a glass of excellent wine (or if you prefer still or sparkling water). At 40 chf well worth the time. Definitely will come back next time we are in Zurich

    Schnitzel!

After not be served (waiters ignored us for 10 mins), we went here. Oldish looking place, dated but we got the Schnitzel.. OMG! One of the best I have had ! (All have been in US, so no comparison). Would eat here again! Typical Zurich prices.

Green salad, Chicken Schnitzel, frites, Jaeger Schnitzel- all very good.

Very good schnitzel! Nice service and cute decor- good option for a chilly day. It was a bit warm in there for my preference but everyone else seemed comfortable. If you get the green salad, ask for dressing on the side--- good dressing, just too much.

Classic fondue in the centre of Zurich old town. Sounded like a very typical place with friendly atmosphere, though quite pricey. Fondue was good with a rich flavour, even if it had an alcoholic after taste.

Horrible. Too expensive for bad food. Fondue tasted odd and service charge was a hidden charge that you find out about when the bill comes.

Not a fan of the fondue. We took one taste and absolutely didn't like it. We were still charged full price, so whatever.

As it was our first time eating raclette, we asked our server to walk us through the menu. Lily was exceedingly helpful in explaining the differences in cheeses and their flavors, and she was also very attentive and checked in on us throughout the meal. I noticed that her welcoming demeanor was also shared by her colleagues who were waiting on the other tables around us. My family took Lily up on her recommendations, and we ordering one Klara and one Willi, each with a side of sausages, as well as one original tarte flambé and one vegi tarte flambée. The food was all very delicious!! My personal highlights from the meal were the sausage dipped in the Willi cheese along with the onions and potatoes that were served with the dish. The tartes also had very thin, yummy crusts topped with raclette cheese. The side of pickles provided a tangy contrast to the rest of the meal which I liked. We ended our meal with a warm chocolate cake and lemon sorbet. I'm not really one for alcohol, so I found the vodka in the sorbet to be a bit too strong for me. However, the chocolate cake with the jam and vanilla ice cream was very good and had just the right amount of chewiness. I wish that I could replace my local Cheesecake Factory with a Raclette Factory instead so that I could enjoy Swiss cheese melted over bread, sausages, and potatoes all the time. Oh well, perhaps it's just another excuse to visit Switzerland again one day :)

We were introduced to raclette by a French friend who even gifted us a heating unit, so we were not expecting to just be served a plate with some bread cubes, 2 potatoes, a couple of pickles & onions, with a bunch of melted cheese on top. Pretty underwhelming. That being said, the food was good. We had plain, garlic, smoke, and white wine cheese - the most noticeable was the white wine. The others were pretty much the same to us. Our waiter was pleasant and the atmosphere... a bit casual and resembling a chain. Pricing? It's Switzerland, so you know you're going to spend some bucks, but comparatively speaking, it was cheap (ER).

The staff was friendly and the service was relatively on time, albeit the place was packed when we were there. Pricing is expensive but so is everything in Zurich so relatively it was not that bad. We got to try traditional raclette cooked at your table on the raclette skillet. Plus, we tried a chicken dish that you cooked on a hot stone at your table. We didn't realize when we ordered that we would be cooking the chicken ourselves but not only was it fun, it was also the best chicken ever. Very moist and flavorful. The raclette comes with tiny white potatoes and gerkins. The raclette was plenty even though we did not order the all you can eat. I can't imagine who can eat that much cheese and I'm the queen of cheese! They had fantastic wines by the glass that were reasonably priced and the atmosphere was perfect. We were so happy to have our last dinner in Zurich be such a success. Plus, this restaurant did not smell like stinky cheese as some other fondue restaurants have a tendency to.

With it's friendly service, good food and amazing ambiance, it was my favorite restaurant of our trip. We decided to order the Raclette and the Truffle Butter Fondue (39 CHF). The raclette was served with boiled potatoes and it was really fun being able to watch your own raclette melting at your table on the melter. While I enjoyed the raclette, I enjoyed the Truffle Butter Fondue even more. It was served with pieces of baguette bread and the fondue was so creamy and flavorful. It definitely had a strong truffle flavor which I really enjoyed. Just as enjoyable as the food was the ambiance. Chasalp is located on a hill overlooking Zurich so you have a nice view of the city as you walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available but with how beautiful the scenery was, we definitely had to sit outside. Cows roam around the lush green grass as you enjoy your meal and everything feels so peaceful and serene. Our servers were very friendly and helpful and checked on us often to make sure everything was okay. While we didn't have any kids with us, the outdoor space also looked to be kid-friendly with a nearby swing set for children to use along with crayons and drawing sheets at the table to keeps kids occupied. I had such a wonderful and relaxing experience and definitely recommend it if you're in Zurich and looking for a delicious fondue option.
