We are very happy with this place. We were working late Saturday afternoon and did not want to go out. We didn't know how long it would take to get this delivered through DoorDash. I got salmon rolls with this: Carrot Cucumber Peppers Green onion Salmon Chili ponzu Sweet Soy Wasabi Overall this was good. I was surprised because I had lower expectations. Rice: bit mushy. Slightly overcooked. Taste is good. Sauces: Overall the taste of the sauce is very strong but it works. It's a little too strong and salty. The sauce is quite tangy for the ponzu and sweet n salty for the soy. The salmon is not the "star" of the sushi, since the sauce was so strong. It looked less "fresh" compared to regular sushi restaurants probably because it is not fresh cut but pre-sliced. Carrots and green onion work with pepper. There's a little bit of crunch. With a slightly "vegetable" taste which is atypical in regular japanese sushi but can be found in as vegetarian korean rolls (gimbap/kimbap) Overall it came to $10 which was fair. read more

I have been to Fusisn several times but I went on Tuesday and it was almost inedible. The rice in my salmon roll was congealed and the seaweed wrap part was like rubber. The girl had to cut my roll manually with a knife instead of using their cutting machine. That should have been a clue. It was culture shock. I was the only Asian in this storefront... maybe that block... maybe the entire 5 miles radius from that restaurant or even more!! My friend and I decided to try this place out as we are in the area for a research conference. This place is as Mexican as Chipotle is, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is a fast casual restaurant like Chipotle, which was perfect because we were looking for something quick to eat after a long day of driving on the highway with truck drivers who drive in the left lane and Ohio State drivers who honk at you for accelerating too slow. We ordered the tofu coconut curry bowl and the roasted tofu roll. The bowl had minimal ingredients but at least the rice was cooked fully and seasoned well, unlike most restaurants on college campuses that don't feel the need to season their food because they cater to kids who do not have a colander in their kitchen. The bowl had a lot unseasoned red onions which added a weird flavor to the rest of the bowl. To be honest, the spicy coconut curry sauce masked all of my tears from the raw onions and made the bowl 10x better. The roasted tofu roll was actually pretty good and the box was very cute and sustainable. It's a bit pricy ($10 for 10 mediocre sized pieces of sushi) but this is a college campus so what can you expect? They have to upcharge people at some point. read more

I agree with all of the other comments and would recommend this place for both the ambiance and quality of food. Hey, if you don't like the roll -- it's your own fault!. I recommend the salmon roll with avocado, cucumber, carrots and lots of Sri Racha and the sesame chili powder. Wow! The Spicy edemame is basically teriyaki-style sauce spiced up with chili and sesame seeds. Park across the street behind Panera if you arn't walking. Hubby and I were craving sushi and this place totally delivered! While we usually prefer to get our fix at an All-You-Can-Eat place, I'm not sure that exists here in Dayton (PLEASE TELL ME IF IT DOES!!). But at least at this place you're designing your own roll so it can be everything your heart desires. It's like Chipotle - you pay about $8 for just about everything with only a few upcharges for certain ingredients (you can find their menu on the website). I got beef, white rice, avocado, cream cheese, pickled apple (the current special), wrapped in seaweed with sweet soy and sweet chili drizzled on top and tempura crunch and sesame seeds sprinkled and a side of wasabi mayo. I would definitely get the beef again, but I won't miss the pickled apples because they just didn't work for me personally. Next time I would ask for double the amount of cream cheese and get all the sauces on the side until I figure out my favorite. Both of the Sweet sauces were good, but provided way too much sweetness together (go figure). The wasabi mayo was surprisingly nice considering I don't usually like wasabi. It tasted like a spicy mustard. Hubby seems to like the spicy sauce he got -he said it was more flavorful than it was hot. I might get be that one a try on our next visit. Great "fast-food" sushi! Set up just like Chipotle and Subway where the rolls are swiftly prepared right before you. Love that you can customize every step of the way from the type of wrap to the toppings. Wrap: traditional seaweed nori or soy paper. Protein (if you so choose): cooked - chicken, crab mix, crabstick, shrimp, steak, freshwater eel; and the raw - tuna, salmon, smoked salmon Veggies: asparagus, avocado, carrot, cream cheese, cucumber, green onion, jalapeño seasonal veggies Sauces: spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, sweet chili, yakisoba sauce, sriracha sweet soy Toppings: crab mix, masago, sesame chili, sesame seed, tempura crunch They also had the raw salmon available mixed with their house marinade, possibly a mix of rice vinegar with sweet soy and black sesame seeds. It wasn't bad, but I thought the marinade didn't enhance the flavor much and maybe took away from the salmon. The rolls were very good sized, each one ten pieces. One roll was enough to satisfy a lunchtime appetite. We ordered four rolls and two sodas which totalled only 28 dollars, not bad for two adults and two kids. For being fast-food sushi it was pretty good, it's definitely not the best I have ever tasted, but it was very fresh and the customer service was top-notch. The server making my roll was very personable, asking if that was our first visit (it was) and how we'd heard about them. I think he may have been one of the owners of the place, he told of how when he and his buddies would go out for sushi, they were always still hungry since the rolls were so small, hence making Fusian rolls larger than average. Also my daughter ordered a standard California roll which comes with sweet soy sauce drizzled on top, she wasn't digging that sweet soy. The owner/server asked how everything was (he checked on us several times) and I asked if he could make another Cali roll without the sweet soy drizzle. The replacement Cali roll was promptly made. I went up to pay for it, but he wouldn't accept the payment, I thought that was really cool. So while the sushi itself was pretty good (not the best, but darn good), the customer service was exemplary, hence five stars. First time here after hearing some positive things from co-workers and yelp reviews and I'm glad I tried it and will probably go again since it's kind of the only sushi-ish option around. Like other posters have said, it's basically a sushi roll chipotle. It's fast, good portions, decent flavors but fairly utilitarian. I ordered a shrimp tempura and salmon roll. I was surprised by the machines. I didn't even know they had a machine to layout the rice and cut the rolls. I'm trying to figure out if it takes away the magic or not. Anyway, they have a decent selection of additions including avocado, blanched asparagus, carrots, scallions, jalapenos and more to go with your protein. Their wasabi has a kick and their ginger is a nice palate cleanser. The only thing that wasn't great was the shrimp tempura which had been fried earlier and was not crunchy. They are a local, express sushi place that uses fresh, natural ingredients. And they believe in environmental causes such as recycling. Located beside the University of Dayton and major hospitals, this is a great place to dine-in or carry out. I used to order the brown rice sushi, but I realized that the sushi tastes much more comforting with white rice because it's stickier and holds all the ingredients together. I decided to get adventurous and create a monster roll stuffed with hearty ingredients. I filled my tuna roll with avocado, cream cheese, carrots, and cucumbers. For the toppings, I added spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, sesame seeds, and tempura flakes. Lastly, I ordered a honey green tea to accompany this meal! Fusian also sells delicious miso soup. The carrot ginger salad, however, tastes salty; the dressing overpowers the lettuce and has a bizarre ginger aftertaste. The loose leaf teas taste flavorful and are higher quality than some coffee places! When it comes to affordability, I think that it's alright. It's $10 for sushi and a hot tea. I sampled 4 or 5 before selecting one and they were all great! the food quality was good and I loved the tea. The environment was modern and the service friendly. The only downside was quantity for price. Since its sushi its not filling and for $7-$8 for the sushi itself anyone other than light eaters may leave hungry. I am a large eater so we went for a sub after, see the next review ha ha. But the place is great and should be tried. Always been a fan of Fusian, they're one of my favorite local chains and I love the how customizable and food allergy/diet friendly their food is! However, this particular location leaves much to be desired in the area of service and employees. So many things to cover on how awesome Fusian is. 1) Make your own rolls - and it doesn't have to contain fish! 2) Even if you don't like sushi, you can eat at Fusian. They have cooked protein options for non-sushi eaters (steak, chicken, shrimp, etc.) 3) Great tasting items in the "bar" to add to your roll 4) They have compost and recycling bins...no trash cans. LOVE that. 5) Community table setting in the middle of the dining area is an awesome idea! Fusian is similar to the set up of Chipotle, but with rolls. A couple of my old roommates were turned off by the fact that this is a "sushi" place. We convinced them to join us and when one of them tried the shrimp roll that we made, she was sold. The roll that I came up with ended up being delicious - a huge surprise, considering I have no idea how to match things together when it comes to sushi. I tried the shrimp tempura on one half of my roll and salmon on the other half. (Loved the flexibility of that, too!) Good sized pieces of salmon and shrimp too, for those that are concerned with being shafted on their amount of sushi in a roll. Plenty of options for what to add to your roll on top of the protein piece, and even the sauces and other toppings had a great selection. Living in Chicago, I can't wait until one of these opens up here! I will certainly be back to eat at Fusian whenever I visit Cincy or Dayton, and I can't wait for that day. read more

Tonight was my first visit to Fusian. The staff was very friendly when they found it was our first visit. They took time and showed patience in walking us through all the yummy options available. Almost too many to process. But really enjoyed the "pick your own" approach to the ingredients and had some fun with it. The seating area was pretty clean, but there were a few tables that needed a good clean cloth to wipe them down. Luckily there were plenty of other clean tables. The food did not disappoint all the hype from friends. Both my daughter and I took one bite and we were hooked! The fish was flavorful and fresh! The other ingredients were just as fresh. Vegans sometimes get the short stick when it comes to sushi. I can't tell you how sad I am when I go to a new restaurant and my options are cucumber roll or avocado roll. However, as soon as I heard about Fusian, a Chipotle-style sushi cafe, where you can pick all the items you want on your roll, I pretty much dropped everything to go there. First of all, I was VERY happy with my roll, mostly because IT WAS HUGE. I chose all the vegetables, which included asparagus, cucumber, carrots, avocado, jalapeno, and green onion. The seasonal veg was radish (free). I was very sad to hear that I missed the last seasonal veg -- sweet potato -- but I am sure that it will come around again. These get changed from month to month, and they update people about the pick of the month on facebook. Tofu is an option! It's great. Definitely try it. Quick tip: my request for extra avocado was accepted without hesitation or upcharge! We vegans have the choice of four sauces: sweet soy, sweet chili, yakisoba sauce, and Sri Racha. (For those of you unfamiliar with Sri Racha, it is a slightly sweet hot sauce with a cult following). The sweet soy sauce was pretty good but I want to try the others ASAP. I opted for sesame seeds as a topping, but I could have gotten tempura crunchies too. The sesame seeds were really amazing! Freshly toasted and just amazing. The wasabe and ginger were pretty standard and were good. I added a side of seaweed salad for $3, which was good and fresh -- not fishy tasting at all, like old seaweed salad tastes like sometimes. If I wanted more protein, I could have added a side of edamame for $1.75, or spicy edamame for $2. I like the miso soup too. You can't see it in the picture, but the soup has seaweed and tofu in the bottom. I was so relieved that Fusian doesn't use fish sauce in their miso soup. Other side items of interest may include carrot ginger salad with iceberg lettuce and an interesting dressing, and cucumber salad. The staff is very friendly, the decor is smart and urban, and the location was upscale (in the new building on Brown Street). I was really impressed with the environmental responsibility of Fusian. Their dishes for side items are compostable, as are the dipping cups that hold soy sauce. We were able to recycle my water cup and the iced tea bottle in a bin next to the trash slot. The spoon was even compostable. I really applaud the ecofriendliness! Another bonus: the owners are local: they only have two Fusians (Dayton and Cincy). All in all, we had a great meal for under $20, which is my price point. With the added bonuses of supporting a small local chain and the green packaging, I'll definitely be going back again soon. read more

This is a really fun sushi place! This is basically the chipotle of sushi - build your own rolls from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It's a fun take on sushi and I would definitely eat here again! I can't believe there aren't more of this type of restaurant in the world! What I ate - 2 rolls (one smoked salmon, one tuna). Went to Fusian after a long day in the gym. The location was easynto find on brown street. The location was clean and the workers were very friendly. We order two bowls and some sushi rolls. The food tasted great and everything they had out looked extremely fresh. The servie was quick and friendly. Even used their bath rooms and they were extremley clean. And their hand soap smelt amazing. I was very impressed!! They also had a great drink selection. I ended up getting a lavender lemondae and my coah a Ginger lemondae. Both were suprisingly delisous and tasted fresh. If you are in the area, then I would reccomend coming here if you are in the mood for some asian cusine. read more

Honestly the food here is enjoyable and quick to get. I always have issues with service here. When there is a line workers can be slow to move you through, and many times very removed from customer engagement. I don't like how at the end, their sales register auto selects a 15% tip. I have almost accidently tipped because of this on more than one occasion when in a hurry. It's great to have the option to tip for good service, but don't make it look like I'm obligated, especially when it's just take out most of the time. read more

FUSIAN on Brown st is a sushi restaurant that advertises fresh fish. The other day I went in they had no AC the smell of old fish was strong. I looked at their tuna it was brown and the employees were dripping sweat onto the food. While I was speaking to one of them the explained how the managers don't want to buy hand soap for them or hand sanitizer everything is bought by employees. They have no toilet paper , she told me they sell spoiled salmon and tuna to people to avoid throwing it out. When asked why they don't complain they said they recently fired people. That's disgusting. They literally have gone down hill and I want everyone to please be aware. I'm not the first to eat their fish and get sick my friend bought a lobster roll from them and got food Poisoning. Please beware !!! read more
