I really wanted to love this place! West Belfast in…read moreparticular the falls/A'town road ate crying out for new places to go/eat...so when I heard that a new FroYo place was opening, I was determined to go, loved it, and spend many a day with the kids in it having yummy treats However...I was disappointed Before I write my let downs, I'll say that the staff were lovely, they took time to explain how everything works, hints/tips regarding weights of toppings etc so if I was to go back, it would be on that basis only The froyo instead was ok...just ok...I mean I wouldn't say it was terrible, but hardly amazing There were plenty of flavours, as well as ice cream too, which was lovely But...the toppings were all uncovered, plenty of them mind you, leaving it hard to miss the copious amounts of flies hovering around...hardly attractive let alone hygienic! This should be more thought out...he way it is places is that the tubs are built into the counter top...I assume for easy access...but really the amount of flies was just yuck! The price...well...let's call a spade a spade...it's frickin dear...and it's ice cream ppl...just ice cream! Ever got stung at the cinema by the pick n mix? Same deal...the tubs are done by weight...so for heavens sake be careful with those damn toppings! My daughter got a small tub with minimal toppings and it came to £5, that doesn't sound too bad, but if you are paying for more than one child, and of course them wanting probably everything..,it's gonna pile up pretty quick! All in all...it's a 'meh' from me, daughter loved it, so no doubt I'll be back soon regardless lol!

And here it is...the Barnam's review as promised. I always keep them. Promises that is…read more I think I'll divide this review in two - one for the actual ice-cream itself, and one for this parlour. Just to make things a wee but easier. Here goes... Barnams isn't my favourite ice-cream, but it's definitely good stuff. There is a huge range of flavours - blue bubblegum, orange crunch (orange-coloured of course), neon yellow banana, as well as your more 'normal' flavours of vanilla, chocolate etc. You can get tubs, cones, fancy wafery things, sauces, waffles and much, much more, and the prices aren't too high. Sounds good, eh? Popping into Barnam's World of Ice Cream yesterday was an absolute must, and apparently the whole world and his dog had the same thought. Well, world and his child in this case... We waited patiently behind a multitude of screeching children who were selecting their ice-creams. One little girl was given her ice cream cone wrapped in greaseproof paper, which she didn't appreciate at all. "Muuuuuummmmmmy!", she screamed, "I don't want the paaaaaappppeeerrrr!!". Oh dear, oh dear. By the time all this drama was over, I was well ready for my tub of chocolate and Belgian chocolate. Or so I thought! I ended up not even being able to eat it all. Oh dear, oh dear (again). Just warning you...but the ice-cream ain't bad. At all.

Barnams is the ice cream shop we all had to go to when we were younger, It rocked! And Now? Well I…read morestill like it! Mainly for the awesome selection of flavours they have, the bubblegum is really nice as is the chocolate (shock horror). The only downside is that with Ice cream parlours comes screaming children. The spoilt brats of the Lisburn and Malone road residents are awful. My solution? Call in when they're at school and enjoy the wonder that is Barnams Ice Cream!

About this time last year I photographed the unfinished shop front of the Ann Street Spoon Street…read morewith its "opening soon" sign in the window for 40 Days Of Belfast. https://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/40-days-of-belfast-belfast?select=xScgVCe1OBwdgRbZNn4ybA Then I went on holiday for 2 weeks and when I came back it was still at the "opening soon" stage. Eventually it opened and became a welcome addition to the city centre. I worked my way around the flavours, generally only taking two of them or even just one. Of all the toppings, I only tend to go for blueberries (and occasionally, kiwi) and nuts. Actually, I don't really want a lot of the froyo because I'm as prone to headaches as I am with ice cream. No, I just want a little froyo as a topping for the blueberries and nuts. Now somebody mentioned spillage. Well, after a little experimentation, I soon realized that the thing to do is to put as much of the nuts and blueberries into the tub first and then literally squirt the froyo as a topping. If only the nut spillers referred to in the other review would do the same, there wouldn't be such a cross contamination risk as the froyo on top just sits there, unless of course you have too much for the size of the tub. I didn't do it today, though, as it doesn't make a very good photo that way.

I visited last week and thoroughly enjoyed it, trying the dairy free lemon (quite tarte) and watermelon (sweet tasting) options which the staff told me were dairy free because they are fruit based sorbets. These sorbets have a richer, creamier consistency than traditional sorbet, being more like whipped ice cream. All the usual toppings are available ranging from healthy fruits to sweets and chocolates. I did notice there seemed to be fewer flavour options in the city centre location than at Newtownards Road. Perhaps more seating space and less dispensing machines. I will definitely return, but as it's now October, it may be the summer months before I visit this or any other frozen yogurt bar again. The novelty of frozen yogurt is beginning to wear off a bit for me. Also who wants to eat such cold food during icy winter months?! Fabulous when summer sun is shining, but possibly not an all year round activity. Maybe they should diversify into mulled wine over winter time...
