PET OWNERS BEWARE!!! If only I could give Natalia less than 1 star.....Natalia watched my 10lb Boston Terrier for 6 hours on Saturday October 1st (booked through her Rover.com pet sitting profile), during which time my dog was mauled by another dog in her home and in turn lost the top half of her left ear. As if this isn't frightening enough, Natalia never called me to tell me there had been an incident, never sought medical attention for my dog's wound and actually LEFT my dog unattended, injured and bleeding, while she attended a birthday party with her children.
I found out she been "bit" via text message when I arrived to pick Piper up, 2+ hours ahead of schedule (thank god I was early). I was upset, but assumed maybe a small puncture wound or something minor, even though I had given specific instructions that Piper was not to interact with any other dogs during her stay and Natalia agreed this would not be a problem. She was not home when I arrived (even though she had previously assured me she would be home all day) and I waited 45 minutes on her doorstep for her to return, only to my horror I found my dog inside missing literally half of her ear and shaking uncontrollably. Natalia proceeded to then lie to my face with conflicting details of the incident and timeframe and make excuses for not calling me or taking Piper for immediate care. She acted nonchalant about the whole thing, even telling me she didn't take her to the vet because she wasn't sure where I would want her to go. As a professional, it is your JOB to care for these animals to the absolute best of your ability, this means when an animal is injured you get in the car and go straight to the nearest emergency center, call the owner on your way and have them meet you there! Which is exactly what I did, rushed my dog to the nearest emergency vet where her wounds were treated, medicated and bandaged. When I called Natalia from the emergency center for her dog's vet records later she didn't even bother to ask how Piper was doing.
I thought I did my homework on selecting this seemingly well qualified pet sitter for our short visit to DC. I thought it was going to be a fun day for my dog, getting some exercise and affection while I was at work. Instead, her visit with Natalia left her mauled, scared and suffering. Not only did Natalia fail to follow important instructions for the care of my dog, she severely neglected and mistreated my beloved family pet. This woman should be ashamed of herself and should certainly NEVER be trusted with anyone else's pet! read more
