I recently brought my dog, Fred, to FurgetMeNot for an evaluation and a half-day of daycare, and I want to share my experience to help other pet parents make informed decisions. The evaluation fee was $25 (nonrefundable after online registration), and while the staff member who conducted it was polite, I left with the impression that she didn't particularly enjoy working with dogs. Fred is a very social, playful, and well-adjusted dog--he has attended daycare regularly since 4 months, plays comfortably with dogs of all sizes and ages, and has never been described as anxious. Despite that, I was told during the evaluation that he seemed nervous, though he was ultimately "cleared" for daycare. For his first half-day (about $36), I was told again that he was nervous and might only be suited for weekends. This didn't match the written "report card," which described him as social, well-behaved, and playing well with others. When I asked for clarification, the explanation shifted back to him being "anxious." Given Fred's long history of thriving in daycare environments, this inconsistency raised red flags. What concerns me most is not the evaluation itself, but the communication and transparency. Before the evaluation, I called to confirm whether there was weekday availability (since that's when I need care). I made it clear that if there wasn't space, I didn't want to waste time or money. Unfortunately, no one followed up, and after investing both time and nearly $60, I was told that Fred should only come on weekends. I was being "encouraged" to bring Fred only on weekends--something that doesn't meet my needs, but still generates revenue for the business. The manager would not speak to me when I came to pick up my dog and did not follow up with a phone call (I shouldn't be surprised no one ever returned a live call or voicemail before my visit....I should have stayed away). The facility itself is small, with play areas that appeared quite limited (approximately 10-15 feet across, divided into small sections with several dogs in each). While that setup may work well for some pets, it isn't what I would call spacious or enriching. It was very clean. That is the one bright spot. In short, I wish FurgetMeNot had simply been upfront about their capacity constraints. I can respect a business being full; what I can't respect is unclear communication and the suggestion that my dog's behavior was the issue when the real problem seemed to be limited weekday availability. Pet parents: if you are looking for consistent weekday daycare, I would recommend asking very directly about space before investing in their evaluation process. I personally won't be returning, as I value honesty and clear communication in any service that involves my dog. I wasted 2 days and $60 dollars on this place. Don't get scammed like me. read more

Yeah, it's a no for me, dawg. I took my dog to Fur-Get Me Not on Monday, December 9 at 3:15 PM for a daycare evaluation. Upon entry, I wasn't greeted particularly warmly by the front desk staff, but they did direct me to the person who would be completing my dog's evaluation. As the staff member, Christopher, who was actually completing my dog's evaluation was friendly and inviting, I did not think too much about the front desk staff. The evaluation cost $25 and it took about 20 minutes. Christopher took my dog to the back and had her meet other dogs and staff members. When the evaluation was over, he informed me that she had passed and answered most of my questions. I asked him what the pricing was for daycare, because it was not listed on the FAQ page that he provided me. He told me he didn't know, but that the front desk staff would be able to answer my question. After wrapping up to the evaluation, I walked over to the front desk to inquire about pricing for daycare. Keep in mind that while this is a full-service dog care facility, it seems that the main service-- or at least one of the most popular services-- that this facility provides is dog daycare. I asked the woman sitting at the desk about pricing. She told me something along the lines of, "we don't have the pricing listed on the brochure, but it is online." I then asked if she could just tell me the pricing. (I'm literally standing at the front desk at this point where they are supposed to answer questions about their services-- wouldn't you just tell me the price instead of directing me to go look it up for myself?!) She then responds "for what?!" with an unmistakable air of annoyance. Now, I would expect a front desk staff member to say something like, "sure, for which service?" The way she phrased her question seems like I was bothering her. I responded "for daycare" and then, she said "well let me just pull up the website and look..." The entire interaction was odd, like she was doing me a favor by providing pertinent info about the business at which she works. Also, why there isn't signage with the pricing for daycare at the front desk, who knows? I do know one thing though: if you act like I'm bothering you by asking you to do things within the scope of your job, I won't bother to spend my coins. read more

These folks are great with doggy day care. They separate by activity level so your dog gets the stimulation he or she wants. I'm impressed with how much Dug Kira want go in every time. They do special events like water play so thing don't get dull for the dogs. They also run a training operations that's pretty good. They offer a variety of classes and also individual instruction. Got in a pinch and had to board my senior dog for the first time over the weekend and they were very accommodating. The updates after the fact gave me a lot of peace of mind and when I picked him up you could tell he wasn't super stressed (sometimes his appetite gets bad after being in a new environment for a while). The biggest reason for 3 stars is that now my dog is showing signs of kennel cough. He's fully vaccinated and I know things happen but I tried to call the facility (x5 times now) to let them know so they could do what they need to to make sure no other pups get this but they won't pick up!! This is the first time my dog has gotten something like this in his senior age (12 years old now!) so I'm hoping he's ok after this but we'll see I guess.. read more

A year and lots of touch points with Fur Get Me Not and it is still our go-to spot. Thanks to their puppy socials and behavior classes, our little gal is a socially well adjusted pup. If chicken is involved, she is very well trained, knows exactly what to do and will give us the good behavior we are seeking! Unfortunately, we were inconsistent with her training while our senior dog was dying and grieving that eventual loss. So we plan to re-engage them for a refresh to help with this to improve consistency for all of us. They are our go-to for walks and in-home overnights care when we can't bring our pup with us on trips. Everyone they have sent has communicated with us and she has missed/moped after we got home. We were also grateful for their coaching support as we considered adding a rescue with special needs into our family. We were actually encouraged to come here for support with that from a vet behaviorist in the area! Our gal recently started attending their daycare from time to time. She is very socially motivated (she tries to play with dogs she sees on TV, brings them her toys and play bows!) but without many opportunities to engage with other dogs at home/daily life. The intake process was thoughtful and they made sure both she would be safe and able to handle being part of dog play safely. She is still a little nervous about it still but the staff has been great at communicating with us and helping set her up for success. For example, they realized her first day of daycare was going to have a puppy pool splash experience and called to let us know ahead of time that it might be a little too overwhelming for her first time. They are not the closest to where we live but worth the drive across town. We are grateful to have found them! read more

Stay away, horrible staff. Do not leave your dog here. Where to begin. We wound up trying this place because our beloved dog training and boarding center was had to close down due to the building it leased being sold. We would not have come to Fur Get Me Not by choice, but we couldn't be happier to leave. The staff was condescending from the beginning, and that never changed. Our family travels quite frequently, so having a reliable dog boarding location is an absolute must for us. The location made it convenient for us, but given how poorly we were treated, I am more than happy to drive to our new location. When we first brought our dog in, they treated the encounter as though they were giving our dog an admissions exam for college, forcing us to sign up for multiple daycare appointments so they could "evaluate" him. The condescension continued as they said he should really be enrolled in multiple training classes they offered--never mind that he's fully trained-- because they said our dog was "not trained to their standards." But they were willing to "give him a shot." Again, we need a dog boarding in a pinch, so we suffered through it. However, every time we boarded our dog and came to pick him up, they started giving us comments as though they had been testing and reviewing him the whole time. The final straw during a stay where they called us when we were out of town, informing us that they would be keeping our dog in a crate for the remainder of his stay because he was having "incidents" with other dogs. We were hundreds of miles away and didn't have any family or anyone in the area who could come pick them up to prevent the situation until we returned home. Needless to say it ruined the end of our vacation, knowing that our pup was going be cooped up until we could get back to him. When we were able to get home and demand an explanation, they repeated the meaningless phrase that there had been "incidents" with other dogs. When I asked them what that meant, they gave me an explanation that was incomprehensible. I pressed them further asking specifically "did my dog bite another dog?" "No" they replied. "Did he scratch another dog?" "No" they replied. "Did he injure another dog in any way?" "No" "Then what is problem?" I asked. The manager replied, "he moved quickly towards another dog." Needless to say I was dumbfounded. My dog plays with other dogs in the neighborhood, neighborhood, children, friends of ours come over and bring their dogs - never once has he bitten or scratched another dog or person. For the life of me, I can't imagine what would bring a place that claims to care for animals to treat my dog in this manner. But for whatever reason the staff at this place, didn't like my dog, even though they admitted he didn't harm any other dog. Nevertheless they felt obligated to criticize my dog behavior and be extremely rude to me when asked very basic questions regarding their accusations. I am very happy not to return and recommend that no one else come here in the first place. The Alexandria area has plenty of dog boarding places, you can find some place that treats you and your pup better than this. I know we have. read more

My family and our dogs love Fur-Get Me Not. We have had training, daycare, and boarding there and these have all been great experiences. Very strongly recommend. I love getting the reports at the end of the day that tell me how my dog's day went. When my older dog passed away, being able to look through different reports meant a lot, and helped me to remember my dog throughout the different stages of his life. We found FGMN after having an poor experience with another doggy daycare facility down the street. Immediately when we took our pup Mochi, she was excited and exploring the environments and interacting with the employees. Mochi is guarded and at times can be quite anxious. So needless to say when she began playing and interacting with the staff it made me feel at easy. The evaluation process was great, detailed oriented to see which play group would for her needs. She gets regular potty breaks! She comes back clean, and not smelling like poop. ( unlike the previous establishment I took her to.) The pups get nap and story times! I mean what more can I say! And at the end of the day we get a report on how she did for the day! And success Mochi is tuckered out for the rest of the day when I pick her up. The staff is professional, experienced and best of all care and treat our fur babies with love and care. For that I can't thank them enough! read more

We started taking our dog Skye here soon after we adopted her back in June 2022. I can't speak highly enough of their training, daycare and boarding services. Skye is an anxious dog who needed some work with having guests over in the house. Karen was a pleasure to work with virtually. We wanted to get Skye some more socialization and needed a safe place to board her when visiting family cross country. Recently we boarded her for 5 nights during the holidays. I grew up in the country. Dogs came out of the woods and either went back in or died on the road. Your best friend might be around a week or ten years. I knew NOTHING about indoor dogs. Now I'm living in the big city of South Arlington and have two dogs. I swore I'd never have a bulldog of any kind, but one is pit bull, American bull, mastiff and boxer. The other is "just" boxer and bull mastiff. Don't ask. We started taking the older dog, the pit/bull/boxer/mastiff in November. He's socially excitable and were recommended into the confidence building class, which has done him remarkable good. The new puppy is learning how to get along with other dogs. What I like about Fur Get Me Not is that the trainers are all experienced, credentialed, and they love dogs. They also know how to train the owner (face it, when there's an animal/human problem, the problem is usually the human). Form our first time there, when out big boy had to sit in the kitchen, to the last time when he ran through an agility tunnel as if he wasn't afraid of closed in spaces, this place has always been encouraging, kind, flexible, and a pure joy. read more

Fur-Get Me Not went above and beyond in saving our dog's life while we were on vacation overseas. The dog walker quickly realized that the our dog was behaving abnormally, and after informing us, got them to our vet, and then to the pet hospital--all on the Saturday evening before Easter Sunday. They kept us informed of the situation until we were able to get back a few days later. And our dogwalker even went to check on our dog when he was recuperating in the hospital. If it weren't for the team at Fur Get Me Not we wouldn't have been able to see our dog alive again. read more

I'm long overdue in writing this review for Fur Get Me Not's dog boarding facilities. Frankly, the fact is that I'm still pissed. To say that Fur Get Me Not caused me and my family extreme distress, let alone my dog, would be a wild understatement. Bear with me cause this is going to be a long one. My parents and I chose Fur Get Me Not's boarding facilities for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend for our three dogs. My parents have two very tiny dogs (a maltese and a pomeranian), and I have a moose of an english bulldog. For those of you in the know, bullies are notoriously high maintenance and require a lot of care to stay healthy. Riggs, the spoiled booger, takes fish oil, has greek yogurt in the am to help with discoloration and eye discharge, and requires wipes for his face folds and paws to avoid yeast infections in these frustratingly moist areas. Fur Get Me Not requires a lengthy introduction form where all issues and needs of your animal are addressed; this was a selling point for me. As a helicopter dog momma, I filled this form out in detail. After assurances from staff and leaving pre-portioned food and supplements, we dropped our animals off and promptly left for Reagan to catch a flight to Phoenix, AZ, to visit family. Imagine, if you will, the distress and terror of receiving a voicemail from Fur Get Me Not upon landing and arrival that my dog, Riggs, had apparently suffered from a grand mal seizure. He was described as being lethargic and disoriented. Bulldogs can die from these issues. I immediately called Fur Get Me Not and was directed to their day manager, who described that Riggs was getting excited with a playmate (unsurprising) and was separated per Fur Get Me Not's procedure (which I happen to agree with). This was approximately 1 hour after we left. Riggs was then unwilling to enter his crate, so the staff "coaxed" (I can only assume shoved, dude is stubborn) Riggs into his crate. At this point, he "evacuated his anal gland", which is code for pooped, was lethargic, and unwell for the rest of the day. Seems simple right? Except that it took me three phone calls to get this story. I was told an entirely different story from a different staff member, and had to wait an excruciating hour to get the real story from the actual person who had seen the "incident". Apparently, they also fed Riggs a second time in the morning, which was totally my error in mislabeling a bag, but regardless, dude had two breakfasts. In this time, I'm panicking, and we're thinking about what hospital to send Riggs to. I call the vet hospital, and they tell me that if Riggs had a seizure, he needs to be taken there immediately. Life or death. Imagine, again, the terror. When I get "confirmation" from Fur Get Me Not, I tell them to drive Riggs to Alexandria with, might I add, a courier fee, to get him checked out overnight. Later that night, the vet hospital calls me to tell me that a) it's vastly unlikely Riggs had a seizure, b) he's in perfect health; in fact, he's well above what they expect for a bully, and c) he's happy as a clam. They agree to watch him overnight and then have FGMN pick him up in the am for ANOTHER courier fee. After this fiasco the vet at the hospital and I came to this conclusion. Riggs was fed twice that morning and was NOT taken out to go poop. He gets ants in his pants when he has to poop and gets overexcited. Therefore, he gets overexcited with a playmate. When they try to shove Riggs in a crate, he doesn't want to go because he is extremely well trained and hates having accidents. As a result of FGMN not understanding a dog's basic need to poop, he soils his crate. And then, because he's a good dog, Riggs gets ashamed and lethargic. Please keep in mind that at no point did any FGMN staff see Riggs shaking or seizing; this was ALL assumption based. Therefore, my dog did not have a frigging seizure. You would think after we called and ripped FGMN a new one for this fiasco that they'd shape up. OH NO. They instruct me on Sunday that we need to pick up our dogs before 9 am or it is a 1 dollar per MINUTE charge. I'm there at 8:45. No one's there. I rattle doors, I pace, I call. Finally, frustrated beyond belief, I drive home. My dad finally reaches someone- and he's calling from Arizona, mind you- and they instruct me that pickup is actually at noon. I have to pick up my cat by Dulles at noon. Out of frustration, I demand they use their beloved courier service to drop the dogs off at my house. They wisely comply. Imagine my overwhelming fury when Riggs shows up looking like absolute shit. He had a fever, guys. I've attached pictures of my dog's state when he arrived at my home. It's taken me over a month of antibiotics, antifungals, and meds to clean up Riggs. Thanks to FGMN's tender loving care, Riggs was sick for a month. They refunded us for our stay, but all in all we are out $400 for the hospital plus $300 for meds and vet visits post-stay. If you love your pup, AVOID. read more

I was looking for a dog walker and decided to go with Fur Get Me Not. The girl came to my apartment to do a pre-check. She came into my apartment and did not interact with my friendly dog at all. He was sitting by her side for most of the conversation and she lightly patted him on the head ONCE. She read through the entire packet and did not ask me once about how my dog walks, if he reacts to certain animals...NOTHING! She asked me 4-5 when she would walk him and every time I explained "I am not sure yet I am just trying to build a relationship with someone." The next day I called the office because I wanted to explain my concerns and they could care less. They just wanted me to pay for the service they had provided me. What service did you provide me? Sending over an untrained dog walker? No Thanks. Taking my business elsewhere, to someone who will actually interact with my dog and provide the best care. read more

We've used the dog walking services of Fur Get Me Not for over two years now, and the dogs have enjoyed their regular walkers tremendously. The issues that we have had is that they have had multiple "regular" walkers over the two years, one of whom developed an unnatural affection for one of the dogs (said she would change her vacation plans and stay on the couch if we wanted her to so that she could be close to him.) She Loved him, and yes, with a capital L. But, she was always good with the dogs, and we never had any issue with her being prompt and courteous. Our current walker has been great with the dogs as well, particularly with our nervous Nelly. That said, be prepared for substitutes if you opt for that. One of my other issues with Fur Get Me Not is that what you are paying for is 25 minutes of walk/play time. I have no way of verifying if that ever happened. They have a form where we get a report, but it has one time on it, unclear if it is start or end or how long they spent. Sometimes I get notes like "a short walk today." I have no idea what that means. I have never used their day care/boarding, it's much more expensive then the place I normally use. Prices in general are high. That said, we would probably use them again in the future for regular dog walks, most of our regulars were just that good. read more

Sassafras says: Kristen usually has one of her friends stop by my apartment when she goes out of town. However, on this particular weekend in October, I was sick and had to take a pill every morning & evening. Even a BFF doesn't want to stop by their friend's apartment twice a day to give medicine to a cat, so Kristen called Fur Get Me Not to have them come take care of me. The sitter came to meet me the night before Kristen left. At first I was scared to death and tried to run under the bed, but Kristen caught me and made me say hello. I gave the sitter a sniff and realized she was a good person. Kristen and the sitter went over instructions and the sitter watched me take a pill. Even though I usually take it very easily, I made sure to be particularly difficult that night and even spit out the pill when I thought they weren't looking. Carey came six times over the next four days and took really good care of me. She gave me food, water, and shoved a pill down my throat. She also cleaned my litter box. She even kept a diary about how I'm such a good cat!! If only Kristen's boyfriend could realize this!! I recommend FGMN to all metro DC pets. They will take good care of you. They also offer reasonable prices with a flat fee. Many places that Kristen looked into had additional fees for things like giving your animal medicine. Thank you for feeding me, FGMN! read more

Ok I'm done with this service. Historically they started out great and then declined over the years. Your experience here is only as good as the sitter and my last two sitters were awful. The one lady could not even unlock the front door with a standard key. She called me while I was at the beach and kept me on the phone multiple times out of sheer ignorance. It was stressful. I find it odd that no matter the duration between visits you are required to pay for a "catch up" visit where the sitter comes to the same house and uses the same key to watch the SAME pet. Just a scam for more money. Yesterday, I called to schedule a visit for next week and the lady on the phone hung up on me when I told her how terrible the last sitter was. She did me a favor. I found another service but vowed to leave a review here. This business used to be great but it's grown and employs young people with clearly no customer service or life skills. read more

Our dog, Fenway, has been attending day care for about 9 months now. He is a rescue who is extremely shy, especially with strangers. He wouldn't go for walks with us because he was so scared so we thought day care would be a good exercise option. We also wanted him to socialize with others. The first few times we dropped him off he was very timid but the attendants were awesome and were so patient with him. They gave us updates after each visit about how they worked with some confidence building. After a few day care visits Fenway began to fall in love. He knew when he was going to day care and would get so excited. He also really warmed up to all of the staff because he saw them regularly. All of the staff really gets to know the animals there. After just a few visits they were calling Fenway by name when we'd walk in. I was very impressed. I also love the report cards they give at the end of a visit. You can tell the staff really love their jobs and working with animals. They have done such a good job working with Fenway and building his confidence. We also love having a tired puppy at the end of the day! You will not be disappointed with Fur Get Me Not. We have also used their boarding services and training and couldn't be happier. read more

If you love your pet, please do not use Fur Get Me Not for dog walking. We have never boarded or left our dog there for day care, nor do we ever plan to. To be fair, we've had a great experience with our original dog walker who took care of our pup for over 2 years. It's the staff in the office that is incompetent and regularly makes mistakes. I'm also under the impression they have high turnover as we hear from different people every time we have to call them to follow up on any of the below: 1. This happened today, 8/10: Say they have someone scheduled but then the dog walker doesn't know and no one shows! We had to email the office in the morning to confirm we had a walker, spent some time emailing back and forth and then had to follow up to see if a walker was confirmed. The office said yes but when we got home there was no note...spoke to the walker and she was never told of our booking so needless to say our pup was stuck for 8 hours. 2. Forget to send confirmations for dog walks or don't get around to processing until hours later - have had to leave work and take personal time off to go walk my dog because they didn't have their act together. 3. Charges $10 to meet a substitute walker. That's ridiculous and petty. 4. Doesn't communicate when a regular walker will be on vacation or leave resulting in us finding out at the last minute and having to change plans 5. Accounting doesn't bill on a regular cycle despite us asking multiple times read more

I recently hired Fur Get Me Not to cat sit. They came in each day for 5 days, spending about 30 minutes per visit with my cat, who gets exremely unhappy without human interaction. Now, it's hard to know exactly how someone did and whether they spent all of the allotted time with your cat when you're not home. But here's what I do know: our cat-sitter seemed very professional. She showed up on time for our initial consultation visit; she left a written note for each day that she was there; and she even sent me an email with a couple pictures one day. Her communication was excellent and she seemed to love my cat. So, from all I can tell they did a very nice job. I would definitely hire them again and would request the same person. I also thought their fees were reasonable: $23 for a 30-minute visit, with a $10 surcharge for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Not inexpensive, but worth it to let your beloved kitty stay in his own home rather than being cooped up in a tiny cage somewhere if you board them (and not a lot of places board cats.) Excessive fees and inflexible policies. I wanted to make holiday reservations as a new client and was surprised by how many added fees and charges like holiday peak, mandatory evaluation, etc they charge. Also they have pretty inflexible dates which for me would have meant 3 additional days of boarding around Christmas when other kennels can arrange pickup/dropoff on Saturdays, even Sundays. The final blow was when I called to cancel the evaluation, they mentioned the evaluation fee ($65) is non-refundable (as written on their website). Despite that being their policy, I kinda look at it as they charged me for a service they did not deliver. What do you think? read more

We decided to enroll our GSP pup in the Levels program & got a 2 month membership in the middle of November. Had a pretty good impression because the enrollment process was smooth & communication of all the details about the classes was on point. What wasn't on point, however, is the consistency & frequency of the training. We expected 8 nice weeks of training, but I guess it was the bad time to sign up for the classes. It turned out the school has very long holiday breaks. No classes for week around Thanksgiving, then 3 weeks during Christmas/New Year. Simple math: they were closed for a whole months out of two. Yes, they do expend the membership for the days they were closed, but it doesn't make up for inconsistency of the training. It just seems very irresponsible & I get a feeling that they don`t really care about your dog`s progress. read more

We take our puppy here for day care and plan to use them for boarding as well. Our pup has been here 3 times now for half-day and full-day daycare. She gets SO excited when we pull into the parking lot that I know they're doing something right! She leaves us to go play with the other pups without delay and is WORN OUT at the end of the day. Things I think they're doing right: - Evaluations for every dog before they're allowed to be boarded or attend day care. So you know that your dog won't be sequestered with an aggressive dog. - Outdoor potty breaks during the day. There are some other doggie day care places in the area that don't provide this opportunity. Considering she's housebroken, but still a puppy, I'm happy to know that she won't be regressing due to day care. - Daily report card to tell me how she behaved during the day and how much fun she had. I have used the dog walking services from Fur Get Me Not for years now . I have never had any issues, have been able to reschedule (add or subtract days, do petsitting while on vacation, etc). The current person walking my dog (Gretchen) is fabulous, she's been walking my dog now for a couple of years. I'm impressed with the low turnover (the person before also walked my dog for a year or two). I think my dog is more excited to see Gretchen every day then she is to see me when I come home. Scheduling, billing, etc has all been flawless all these years as well. The price is a bit high, but it seems to be consistent with other dog-walking services in the area (give or take a dollar or so). Obviously it is more then you'd pay for a single person walking your dog (not through a company), but you get the added benefit of having a company behind the person (so it doesn't matter if the walker goes on vacation or is sick, you can rest assured your pooch will get their walk!). read more

Overall I have been very satisfied with Fur-Get Me Not's services. I use both their daycare and pet sitting services. I have been a client of theirs for a little over seven months. I am impressed with their service, their phone etiquette, customer service, and the care they provide for my dog. Their daycare is an excellent option for high energy dogs such as mine. I can come home after work not feeling guilty for leaving my precious pooch home all day without supervision. The daycare staff is very friendly as well as knowledgeable with canine behavior. They have three different play area that are constantly monitored by daycare employees. Booking a pet sitting reservation has also been a breeze. As we recently relocated to Arlington, we have no trouble getting a sitter to accommodate us for weekly and weekend pet sits. The office staff is prompt, friendly, and very quick to respond back with requests. At an event they are unable to fill our request quickly, they have always called us to let us know of the status. It's the little things that help out a lot. We appreciate their open communication with us. We trust that they will do a good job taking care of our dog. So I just switched to Fur Get Me Not for dog walking and so far, I'm impressed. The consultation was excellent. Fur Get Me Not uses their own official paperwork for leaving notes which has date/time, circling #1/#2, medication, food, and a space for comments. (It's much more reliable then having dog walkers write in a notebook and then, arguing with a company when a dog walker didn't write in a notebook so then you have no idea if that dog walker actually showed up! Will not mention other company....)The official paperwork really just shows professionalism. You give two keys to Fur Get Me Not. One key to your dog walker and one key to keep on hand with the company (in case of emergencies - which makes total sense!). One complaint I had with the old company (a-hem cough cough) is that no one knew who had my keys! This is a great system - again, professionalism and accountability. This was a small detail (but great!!) was that they provided official paperwork for Access to Building to give to my Management Office. It was already prefilled and I just had to fill in the blanks. I completed it and turned it into my Management Office, which they loved and put in my file. Again, in case of emergencies and a dog walker needs to get a key from the Office. I have two dogs. One is very social in all respects and the other, well I like to say that he is more of a people person - it's like he never learned how to play like other dogs. So he hangs out with people. I got him in a shelter so I don't know much about his history ... and he's a beagle - so he has lots to say. I always meet people who claim to be "dog people" or "dog professionals" and they never understand him ... I once went to PetSmart Pets Hotel and they isolated him ... when I returned from vacation he had a fever and was in bad shape. Well I can guarantee that the staff and management at Fur-Get-Me-Not are truly DOG PEOPLE in every respect. They understand him and let him be him. While Matty is meeting friends, Dexter will sit on a chair and survey the land. How do I know this? Because Fur-Get-Me-Not provides these WONDERFUL report cards - whether you were there just for doggy day care or for boarding. You will pick your friends up and know just how their day was. Our dog is half Australian Shepherd, which means LOTS of energy, and Fur-Get Me Not is the only place we trust for daycare. She goes twice a week to burn off her puppy energy and we love the report cards we receive when we pick her up each day. It's clear she has a great time there because she gets SO excited as soon as we pull into the parking lot. I also appreciate that they arrange the play groups by size AND temperament, and have staffers actively monitor/play with the dogs during the day. We also did Fur-Get Me Not's Levels Training classes for two months and they were well worth it. Our dog picked up on skills relatively quickly, so it nice that the program allows you to move up a level as your dog progresses (and you're not stuck in the level you signed up for). The instructors were helpful and patient and even taught me some great tricks on how to keep our pup calm and quiet during class. My only criticism is the parking situation. The lot can get a bit chaotic during daycare pick up time due to the Crossfit and martial arts places next door. The spots in the back are a bit far and not very well lit at night. read more

Lola (my puppy) loves this place. We've been working with a private trainer and it's been awesome. I can't walk anywhere without people remarking at how well behaved my puppy is at four months and it's largely due to their help. I've even had other trainers from other companies try to "recruit" my puppy due to her behavior. We also do the puppy socials on Saturdays. I would recommend them to anyone. Great way to get your dog socialized, he or she will sleep all day and you have a chance to compare notes with other new puppy owners so you don't feel so alone when times get tough. I've had quite a bit of experience with Fur Get Me Not beginning in 2010 when my dog was a puppy. We've done intermediate training and Nosework 1 with FGMN. I've also used their boarding and daycare services. All have been phenomenal. Recently, I started using their midday dog walking service. Our walker is Ian and he's really wonderful. He's very sweet with my dog and takes her for really nice walks - even sending texts with pictures during the walks. In addition, he (and all FGMN walkers) leaves a daily "journal" with brief notes. It's really wonderful knowing that my dog is in such great hands while I'm at work. Speaking of journals - they also do this for doggie daycare. I crack up every time I receive one because sometimes the comments are pretty priceless. "She strutted around thinking she was in a fashion show" is one I think we had... so funny. All that said, If I could change one thing about FGMN, it would be their overnight boarding. My dog has pretty intense sound phobias - specifically thunder. During the summer months thunderstorms are pretty common and often happen at night (as you know). Since there is no FGMN staff in the boarding facility overnight, I often get worried that she is in there panicking and scared by herself. A really cool feature (but not at all a deal breaker) would be webcams for daycare/boarding so you can check in on your pup. Just a suggestion for a 5-year plan possibly :-) On the whole, I trust FGMN completely and REALLY recommend their services. read more

We have used Fur Get Me Not three or four times over the past couple of years, and like the service. It is easy to set up visits online, and we enjoy reading the daily updates from the sitter when we get back home. Our cats seem to be friendly with them, which is great since they can be a bit shy around strangers. In addition to food, water, and some playtime each day, a couple of sitters have even cleaned up hairballs that the cats have coughed up! One thing folks should know is that if will be gone for a week and set up a sitter to check on your pets, the policy is to check every day. So this can make the price steep if you will be home for an extended period. That being said, I think the cost is worth it to know that our pets will be cared for in a familiar environment while we are out of town. read more

This is a review of the Dog Reactive I class. I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with this class. Prior to this class, we had tried everything to help our dog (Coconut) overcome her reactivity, including Prozac, basic obedience classes, positive private training, and punitive private training (prong collars, sprays, etc). With the punitive training, we saw *some* improvement on walks as she stopped lunging and barking, but she started whining like crazy when she saw other dogs. Looking back, I realized a HUGE problem with our previous training experiences- they were treating it like aggression rather than what it really was- REACTIVITY (a fear-based reaction). If your dog has never actually attacked another dog or person, but acts crazy on walks (barking, lunging, snarling at other dogs), your dog is reactive, not aggressive. THIS is the class you need. Unfortunately, if your dog's reactions to other dogs is fear-based, using punitive methods can actually make the dog more afraid and reactive. I was a little nervous about a class full of all reactive dogs, but it was actually a positive because no one is judging you for having the "crazy dog." They allow no more than 5 in the class and they keep you in separate spaces blocked off with fencing covered with blankets in a huge room. The classes focus heavily on obedience, even in highly distracting and anxiety-producing environments. Therefore, you practice obedience commands in the presence of other dogs- but they are kept far apart at first. Then, eventually you progress to working on teaching your dog to "heel" while another dog is present. Keep in mind that a lot of the work takes place every single day, not at class. You will need to use a clicker and treat pouch to get your dog to reliably follow obedience commands while out on walks. You will need to practice daily. We saw more gains from this class than anything else we have tried. When we say her name on walks, she now turns her head to look at us about 90% of the time (initially was about 5%). By rewarding her when she sees other dogs at a distance rather than punishing her, she has stopped reacting as much. She may still making growling noises or jump a bit, but she is barking and lunging FAR LESS. We also learned some cool "management tricks" for walks, such as teaching her to turn around and walk a different direction. If you complete this class, you can continue on to Dog Reactive II class or do private lessons with a trainer and their dog. Unfortunately we will be moving this summer, otherwise we would definitely continue with one of these options. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The business-side. Training was truly top-notch, but it was like pulling teeth to get responses to emails. Be prepared to wait days or even weeks. However, I still feel the benefits of the class far outweighed this annoyance. Highly recommend! read more

UPDATE: owner called and arranged for visits with two back-up caregivers. Their service agreement promised this anyway. So, still unclear why this became an issue at all. Fee for service. As a concern, doing better in ensuring they meet the commitment for which we pay. LOVE our current caregiver. She is better and the fur babies love her too! .... We selected this concern because it guarantees a backup / substitute in the event of illness or absence of primary care giver. We love our current care giver and so do the dogs. She fell gravely ill and the company was unable to provide backup. You failed! Boo! Please get well! read more

Pet Sitting/ Dog Walking As a perfectionist myself, there are not so many times in life where you have a WOW customer service. My experience with my two pet sitters is one of those times every time they care for my dogs. There are not enough stars for me to adequately show my gratitude for the care my two dogs have received from the pet sitting services and dog walking services of fur get me not. I have used their services in both VA and in DC for the past 6 years where my german shepherd and lab pit bull mix have transitioned from high energy, powerful, dominant personality dogs in a apartment building with a tricky dog filled elevator, to two elderly medically compromised dogs. The care has always been excellent and reliable, but I am in awe of my dogs two pet sitters in DC. There are no words for how exceptional these two care givers are. One of my dogs is now in a harness and basically can't walk. In all honesty, how many people would genuinely look forward to caring for a dog in that situation? It is difficult, and hard on your own body. He took a sharp decline while I was away for Christmas. The dog walker was so caring, helpful, reassuring, and competent, that even for someone like me that is far too over-protective of her dogs- I was able to enjoy my time home, and know that my dog was in excellent hands. As I write this, I am out of town again, and now my german shepherd suddenly experienced a scary case of geriatric vestibular disease, which is basically extreme vertigo. The dog walker notified me, and got my very large dog to the vet. She did and said all the right things, again with a genuine love for my dogs, and truly going above and beyond the call of duty. My dogs are on complicated medications, require a specific regimen, and obviously have issues that arise. I could not have managed the care of my dogs any better than she has. I have complete trust and confidence in my pet sitters, and not only have they provided the highest level of care for my dogs, but have allowed me to be able to have a bit of freedom even with being the lucky mom of my two amazing, but elderly dogs. I can not recommend them enough! read more

I love fur-get-me-not! The daycare is fantastic and I really feel at ease when I drop my dog off. She LOVES daycare and has learned the word daycare - when I ask her if she wants to go to daycare, she starts going insane and barks at me to get my butt out the door. Then she tries to practically bust through the car windshield to get into daycare. Bottom line: If my dog's enthusiasm and love for this place isn't testament enough, she loves it and it so makes it worth the cost! We've boarded her with them several times and one time she developed "tummy" problems (from a treat we gave her earlier before dropping her off - bad fur-parents!) and they took really wonderful care of her and even gave her a bath on the house because she ended up getting herself a little messy. I've also done the workshop training classes with them and they are great. The only problem we have had is that some people bring some really yappy/bratty/barky dogs and it is disruptive to the class and my dog kinda stresses out a bit (so do others). I can't hold this against the teachers, but perhaps some sort of screening process like they do for daycare would help with that issue. Bring your dog here for daycare! It's the best! I have a friend in DC that drives all the way from Georgetown area to take her dog here. read more
