I've been taking group yoga lessons with Kat for right around a year now, and I'm a big fan of her teaching style. She creates fun, challenging sequences that have helped me develop a much greater awareness of my body. She encourages students to get curious about their strengths and limitations and to find a balance of effort and ease in each pose. She doesn't shy away from advanced poses, but always provides modifications and alternatives for students who wish to explore the poses but may not be fully capable of coming into them just yet.
When Kat mentioned she was doing private lessons, I jumped at the chance to sign up. I've been feeling like I could use some 1:1 instruction to clear some hurdles in my practice. I had my first lesson with her the other day, and it was everything I hoped for. She checked in with me before class to ask about what I wanted to cover, what challenges I was experiencing, any injuries I wanted to share, and whether I wanted my private lessons to be purely focused on physical postures or a balance of physical postures, meditation, and breathwork. When I showed up for the lesson, she had a plan drawn up and everything was ready for us to dive in. I had a ton of questions, and she patiently answered all of them. We covered way more than I expected to in an hour, and I came home with some fun homework to work on between now and our next lesson.
The best thing about private lessons with Kat is really getting to dig into what proper alignment feels like for my body as I'm moving through poses. She's teaching me how to use props and modifications to explore poses that have up until now been mostly inaccessible to me due to my body geometry. She's also giving me a space to explore poses that I've shied away from in group settings, and she's giving me tips on where I need to build more strength to achieve my goals. I'm really excited to see the impact these private lessons have on my practice! read more
