This place was adorable, packed with so much for young kids to touch, see, experience, play with and play on and we were able to get through and do most of it. They loved the tree, the camp site, the plane, the kitchen, the waterfall area, the bunk beds, the fish, and fishing simulation, the driving simulations, this was a magical place for them. Since we had limited time and a big group, I did not get a chance to try the driving experiences, but it is only $5 admission. The only thing I wish they would have as a parent, and maybe this feasible for them would be to have a cafeteria where they actually sold food and drinks. You have to bring your own food and if you have a water bottle, they put it away for you since nothing is allowed on the attractions.

The parking in the lot next to it was $8 and its gated so it felt really safe. They have a ramp if you have a stroller. They offer stroller parking too. We walked around the main floor and checked out the exhibits. Then we went to the lower level and played in the kids area. The kids loved it. They do clean 12:30pm to 1:00pm. We were able to play for an hour. They loved the water section. There was dancing fruit in one of the rooms and my son was dancing a lot. Another room had soccer balls that he was throwing. They had a pretend kitchen area and a seated area with magnetic blocks. My kids did not want to leave. When we walked out they had a demonstration at the science stage at 12:30pm about fire. That was really cool. They also have IMAX theatre shows. We did not want to participate in that because our kids would just scream. We did go to the dinosaur exhibit on the third floor as well. The birthday girl chose 3 circus tricks, the kids practiced, and then they got dressed in costumes, got facepaint, and put on a show for the parents. The kids were proud (so was I was a parent) and I loved how fun and, dare I say it again, empowering the whole experience was. Kids that were too shy or scared at the beginning were all participating at the end. Plus, there is a photographer who posts all of the pictures online for free for parents to download. But my review is not only based on the good times we had but the fact that the State Fair used to be something very different than it is now, and compared to other states' fairs, this is not the best of the best out there. It is conveniently located in Novi for those who live in the area at a hotel. So I basically parked for free in the hotel parking lot. That was great, very convenient, but it did not give epic State Fair feels. This is also at the same place at Comic Con. For Comic Con, this is a great spot but as a pavillion for the entire state, it is pretty sad. You walk into the conference area of the hotel and get tickets. We only spent $10 a person plus free parking, not bad at all. But then you walk through the doors at you are at the fair where the comic booths usually are. It is so small, like the tiniest art fair ever. Mostly local vendors selling stuff, but not enough and not enough variety. Kind of like Comic Con, my child did find some cool anime stuff to buy but it was so sparse. They had a "Cool Zoo" trying to sell exotic animals cooped up in tiny cages looking sad or selling $10 and up hugs, but were a bit deceitful, as they asked my child to touch and hold the animals but did not indicate it was for pay. Meanwhile, the livestock are thrust in the same space as the vendors in the teeniest of spaces. We enjoyed seeing the animals and giving them free pats and pets with permission from their keepers, but when this was once in Detroit, they had their own separate area. Then tucked in the same space were the kiddie rides and a few food areas. The best was the all you can drink chocolate milk for a buck, worth it! Outside were a handful or rides, a few food trucks, the midway games, the concerts, and the circus. It was a tiny backyard behind the hotel, like a teensy parking lot of things to do. It was a lot of fun. We tried a couple stuffed pepperoni pizza rolls, a tiny taco, a mini mango lassi, listening to some good music under a tent, played some games, saw some clowns and tiny dogs driving a car. You can come here for hours and have fun. The downside, most of the food trucks charge about two dollars to use a credit card (not even a percent a flat fee) so I went through most of my cash here. The main problem is when I was a child the State Fair in Detroit was huge, an epic yearly event I looked forward to. They had multiple buildings for selling art, seeing animals, a very large variety of rides and games and even more interesting food. The food trucks were the same ones from all of the summer art fairs, nothing special. Just hot dogs, pizza, and funnel cakes. I even confirmed with my parents that the fair was really large on a nice size property. While it was more convenient for me to drive 20 minutes to the fair, I miss the Detroit location and do not understand what happened. It is a shame. But, as I mentioned, we did have so much fun. We did spent hours on end doing all of the activities, eating, shopping, seeing animals. When we went there were really small crowds, so we could do things multiple times. We had no problem with too many people. My kid really enjoyed it because this is the only state fair here. I would probably go again next year if they price is the same. But many of the other reviewers are correct and perhaps there is a better fair in Michigan to go to, or maybe just visit Michigan Adventure if you want some good food and rides. It costs a bit cheaper to go there for a Cedar Point type experience instead.

I went to the Village Theater in Canton just last night for a community event.  The team at the…read moretheater was professional, helpful, engaged and responsive.  It was a pleasure to work with the great staff and wonderful volunteers.  The parking was ample.  All the signage was readable, easy to understand and to follow. The theater itself and grounds are all kept up well.  The seating is spacious and the individual seats are comfortable.  We were fortunate to have the function catered and were very happy with the accommodations provided by the theater to the company bringing in the food and drink. The lighting and technical staff are all first rate.  We had a changeup at the last minute and their professionalism walked us right through it.  I will be looking forward to attending other events at this venue.  I recommend it highly.

She asked if I had been here before, and I told her no. She pleasantly told me all the features of the theatre, where the bathrooms were, the FREE COAT CHECK, snack and wine area, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff about the theatre. This was extremely usful! What a great thing instead of getting "your seated to the left." While I waited in the main part of the theatre lobby, I noticed that they have a rotating monthly art exhibition with artists names and prices. Neat! Also, the bathrooms were clean, with lots of stalls and well stocked with all the essentials. The theatre itself was clean, and the seats were easy to find. While I was waiting for the show to start, I noticed that they have a lot of different shows here at different prices. Some are for adults, some are for kids, and they notate if it's "family friendly" or not. Also, the prices are very reasonable. Even though this place is a bit out of the way for me, I loved coming here! Parking is a bit tight, so I got there early to ensure a good spot close to the doors since it's super cold outside. Also, I would love to come back and see more performances since it does seem to have a nice variety of stuff going on here.

Had the pleasure of visiting the USA Hockey Arena for the first time to attend the final match of…read morethe 2019 World Junior Summer Showcase hockey tournament between the United States and Canada. My first impression was very positive because parking was super easy in the adjoining on-site lot that is plenty large enough for the size of the 3,504 seat hockey facility. It is an intimate venue as far as hockey arenas go, and it is absolutely perfect for what it is. There is a great pro shop with all kinds of authentic USA Hockey gear at all ranges of prices, I'd also say that they provide ample restroom facilities, and a decent sized vending station (though, if I had to throw any shade on an otherwise top-notch spectator-friendly facility, I would have to admit that the standard arena fare served up is decent, but certainly uninspired--yet, I had no expectation of enjoying a top-notch burger once inside an amateur team arena, so all's good here). The sight lines throughout the arena are generally unobstructed (with the exception, perhaps, of the end glass behind the goaltenders where there seemed to be more than the usual number of puck marks that blurred some of the ability to get a clean photo of the on-ice action). But the atmosphere is great and it should be--basically a facility dedicated to cheering on our men and women suiting up in the red, white and blue. Go USA!

My only complaint is that it is usually all family friendly movies or one bad kid movie with one we actually want to see. I like kiddie fare but it would be nice to have a quality double feature that did not include one cartoon type movie or kid clunker. At any rate still a blast and optimal for cuddling and bringing your own collection of snacks.
