Parking is $10, and for a bracelet to do everything is $30. Definitely pretty pricey, so plan your day to be here for a while to make it worth your money. It's possible to park outside of the suburban center, but it can be a small hike. I would recommend not wearing your favorite shoes here, it's pretty dirty between the animals and just the unpaved ground that you're walking on. Definitely do not wear white shoes or flip flops unless you're looking for a mess. We saw some people who became messes from just walking around and they had to go clean their feet after. There were a lot of food options, we looked around and it was mostly just too dirty for me to eat. We watched one vendor wear gloves to touch food, kept their gloves on to take money, to scratch their head and go back to touching food. Who knows what else they were doing with those gloves. So it's just not my thing, but expectations on sanitary food handling at the fair is not very high. Eat at your own caution. Overall, it's a decent night out with friends and family.

I have to say I have not been to the State fair since it was in Detroit. It was 8 to get in the fair if you were not doing anything, we were there for 3 hours and never rode a ride watch the pigs races saw the new Dodge truck, they had the petting farm, tons and tons of food and they had a room with tons of vendors selling things. This was definitely a high light to the end of the summer and will definitely make this a new tradition with my family

No Shrine Circus?? What happend? It cost $15.00 to see the Moto Cross. Not good, should be free with cost to the fair.

This is terrible the way they treat these animals. They should not be used for entertainment it is so sad.

There's a lot of vendors. Food trucks were mostly by the center park area, some random ones are down the side streets from the park. Bring a hat or umbrella. The ride is about 15 min but the shuttle is comfy (it is a huge bus)! You pay at a tent and don't need a ticket. The shuttle dropped us off right at the end so we could start from the side (there are many vendors). It was right by the fire station. It was very hot walking through but we did find a market that was perfectly air conditioned to cool down in! We bought a refreshing Acai bowl at Wander Bowls Acai, a cookie from Chocolate Chipped Bakery (SO good and they give you a coupon for a free cookie at their farmington location), and a birthday card from the store Vitrine (also nicely air conditioned and has the cutest things)!! We saw the blue fountain, chalk art, music performer, the jurassic park dinosaur, etc. Overall, the vendors are great but it was a crazy hot day and so we didn't have enough energy to walk the whole thing. Loved what we did get to see and I think it is worth attending!

Pros: -LOTS of activities for little kids -Great security at all times thanks to LPD and their mobile command center -Tons of parking, thought it fills up -Local groups have fundraisers with discounted wristbands that are easy to find -Lots of food options, including stands run by local nonprofit organizations -The ice arena is open with a vending machine and bathrooms. And it's air conditioned -Handicap parking available Cons: - Free parking fills up fast -Gets a bit chaotic in the evenings when the older crowds come in -Craft show is more like a vendor show and out of the way -Some of the workers did not have appropriate sun coverage in the heat and we felt so bad they weren't provided that. -General fair overpriced everything. It was nearly 100 degrees when we went, so we brought an entire backpack of frozen water bottles as well as all the sun gear. Probably due to the heat, there were no lines and our kids were happy to zoom around keeping cool and riding everything they could. There are a bunch of toddler and kid rides which was just what we wanted. One adult wristband was enough to go on a few additional rides with our 5 year old. We brought lunch and ate at covered picnic tables. It was hot, and as adults we were sort of miserable trudging all over the blacktop, but our kids had so much fun and 6 months later, are still talking about it.

My daughter particularly enjoys the stuffed toys and puppets. I enjoy the atmosphere and fun crowd. The music is great and so is the food. They have one of the best funnel cake trucks with amazing fried Oreos, sooo good!!! Treat Dreams has an ice cream truck with their famous flavors. The ice cream cookies are the absolute best!!! They have an eclectic variety of food trucks that look and smell mouthwatering. But they could use more seating, it's very limited compared to the amount of people eating the goodies. I love the adult beverages available to purchase through tickets. They have a ginormous variety of beer and mixed drinks, plus some of the money goes toward different charities and good causes. It's ten tickets for $20, but this year I noticed you may purchase individual tickets. I prefer this option! Tickets are $2 a piece, so most beers cost around $6 or three tickets. I got the Griffinclaw pumpkin beer. It was amazing! Very pumpkin forward with a nice spice aftertaste. Most of the mixed drinks are between three and four tickets, cheaper than most bars. I've even seen some for two tickets. The parking can be challenging. We were able to find a good spot and only paid $3.00. But I wonder if it gets more challenging in the evening hours. I bet this a fun time at night. This is a great event when paired with the Funky Ferndale fair. I look forward to next year.

Do not buy your tickets for this Comic Con until closer to the event!…read more I bought a photo op for my husband's birthday - he is a HUGE fan of one of their celebrity guests. I had read the FAQs that they do not offer admission ticket refunds, but they also suggest that you buy your admission tickets for the day of the photo op in advance in case they sell out. I have never been to a Comic Con before, so I was worried we'd buy the photo op and then not be able to get in because they sold out of admission tickets so I bought our tickets when I bought the photo op. Then I get an email that the photo op was cancelled and I'd get a refund for that, but that I am stuck with my 4 admission tickets for that day. We do not attend Comic Cons regularly. There are no other guests we are interested in seeing. But because of their no-refund policy we are now out over $200 OR we have to attend an event we aren't interested in. This is a terrible policy. I can't imagine there are hundreds of people who would request a refund for one photo op being cancelled, but also, if the one photo op was the draw to get you in and the organizers cancel it, why are the attendees punished? I am forced to pay you $200 for poor organizing? Definitely would not recommend attending - shady business practices. This policy needs to be changed before I'd consider buying tickets for this Comic Con again.
