This faire had lots todo. We got there when it opened at 9:30am & spent most of the day inside. They had a free shuttle to take us & pick us up! This was for those who like to tinker, build things & those who are interested in robots. We had the opportunity to build tool boxes, control robots, build our own super hero, spun wool, get our face painted, climb in a cube, shoot an air gun, be a conductor, see Star Wars heroes and much more! Wow it was lots to do we enjoyed! Would go back again

I'm not worthy! This weekend I attended Maker Faire for the second time. Having been a year away, I had nothing but fond memories of last year's festival. This year I came away with a different feeling. The people who set up and make/sell things at shows like this are so much smarter and better human beings than I. I walked away feeling unworthy to share the air they breathe. So many amazing projects, awesome ideas and simply fantastic fun. The exhibitors here put up cool booths with everything from melted crayon art, to six foot tall robots and literally anything you can think of in between. On top of that the show is filled with tons of Michigan made food, and performance arts as well. Mix that in with the already astonishing Henry Ford campus and you have a truly unique experience. I attend comic cons, street fairs, festivals and many other types of big shows and nothing is comparable to this. I can't wait until next year, heck maybe I'll even make something to take back with me.

Here is an example of an artistic way to use "junk" or "trash" to make something cute

Pros: -LOTS of activities for little kids -Great security at all times thanks to LPD and their mobile command center -Tons of parking, thought it fills up -Local groups have fundraisers with discounted wristbands that are easy to find -Lots of food options, including stands run by local nonprofit organizations -The ice arena is open with a vending machine and bathrooms. And it's air conditioned -Handicap parking available Cons: - Free parking fills up fast -Gets a bit chaotic in the evenings when the older crowds come in -Craft show is more like a vendor show and out of the way -Some of the workers did not have appropriate sun coverage in the heat and we felt so bad they weren't provided that. -General fair overpriced everything. It was nearly 100 degrees when we went, so we brought an entire backpack of frozen water bottles as well as all the sun gear. Probably due to the heat, there were no lines and our kids were happy to zoom around keeping cool and riding everything they could. There are a bunch of toddler and kid rides which was just what we wanted. One adult wristband was enough to go on a few additional rides with our 5 year old. We brought lunch and ate at covered picnic tables. It was hot, and as adults we were sort of miserable trudging all over the blacktop, but our kids had so much fun and 6 months later, are still talking about it.

Attended last year's Detroit Jazz Festival, I would say this 2019 event was a great improvement…read more Several stages were scattered all over downtown Detroit's Campus Martius, then Hart Plaza. Big-name sponsors such as Humana, DTE, Kia and etc give away freebies in-exchange of your personal details like contact number and email. Huge turn out of the crowd for the Jazz music. If you are planning to go next year, bring your own portable chair or seat cushion. It will be helpful for the bottom if you plan to sit down for hours to watch and listen to the concerts. Admission was free this year. The downfall of this event was the pricing for the food and drinks, quite a markup! I understand the reason..to compensate for the cost of space/rent and marketing to catch public attention. Last Sunday morning it was raining but after 2 pm, the weather was perfect. The raindrops stop falling, and there was a breeze. Dominant police visibility. It may me feel safe but remained cautious and vigilant for possible scenario. Highly recommend the festival for jazz fans.

They eliminated one entire stage and they removed large amounts of seating at two of the other stages. This makes for a very crowded and not very pleasant experience. They ruined the waterfront stage which always had a great laid back vibe and I have no reason why they pushed the stage in a tiny space with almost no seating. The music is still really good, but it seems like they don't care about the festival goers overall experience.
