Every year this fair just gets better and better. There's consistently a nice mix of vendors (some…read morereturning, some new) with a variety of goods. It really is easy to find something for everyone at the fair. This year in particular was bananas. I came on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. I had heard that they surpassed the entire weekend attendance from last year (5,000) in just one day on Saturday. Like I said, bananas. But the vibe is so good and positive that it doesn't feel uncomfortably crowded and the shoppers aren't rude or pushy. Just one big feel good shopping party. But it may be time to expand the space. Which is never a bad problem to have, I think? To keep growing. Just goes to show you how much love and support there is for handmade, local gifts in this town. I love it!

Open Wednesday thru Sunday from before Thanksgiving to New Years Eve 6:00 -10:00 pm. It is a 4 mile drive that does not move fast and you stop alot, but it is peaceful unless you can't control your kids. I have been enjoying it for over 25 years. My ex who hates winter so he hates Christmas even enjoyed it. They use to have a craft store and some food at the end, but since this is a pandemic year that wasn't allowed. I also enjoyed shopping there since they had some cool stuff. Traffic does back up on the surface streets leading to the entrance off of Merriman road. But it is worth the wait and the gas.

I think I saw about 10,000 white people at this festival. And about 1 black person. Yes, 1. And about very few, if any, Hispanics, and about zero Asians. But hey. It is what it is. Other than the racial demographics, it is a lovely Festival in one of my favorite neighbourhoods of Michigan. Some of the best pizza slices in the world are in these parts and if you wander the Allen Park Street fair you will find lots of cool stands and coolinary (intentional mis-spelling) delights. And a lot of the stores along this area will sell stuff outside the front of their stores. Just a great Festival although - as I said - you will notice there is very very little ethnic diversity.

The ice sculptures were impressive. I'd like to see the number of statues increase in the future. February is one of my least favorite months because it's cold and there aren't a lot of outdoor activities. The ice festival was fun and encouraged me to go to Plymouth twice to take a walk around town to see the ice sculptures. I'd like to see more winter events like the ice festival that bring people together and have a positive impact on local businesses. I stopped by Max and Bella's Smokehouse for the first time to get dinner while I was at the ice festival. I recommend eating here for a quick take-out plate. I thought there would be a long wait but the business was prepared to serve quick and hearty meals. There were also food trucks and food vendors next to Kellogg Park. Don't expect an internationally renowned ice festival like the one in Harbin, China, but this is a decent festival for a small city and worth seeing.

Favorite part was the robotics play that was going on at the DIA. The projected vines and flowers at the Science Center was hella strong. Above-and-beyond customer service from GM Jennifer!…read more My friend and I were taking our boys out today for a day of fun down town Detroit. We decided on lunch and the Illusion Museum. She texted me the link she used to buy her tickets. I clicked it and somehow it directed me to Atlanta instead which I did not know that! I'll own that I should have looked more closely....I checked the number of adults, children, total cost, etc., but never thought to double check the city. I didn't realize the mistake until the Detroit staff couldn't find my name in their system. I was embarrassed and starting to panic, but Jennifer, the general manager, immediately helped me. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and never made me feel silly (which I totally felt inside). She even shared that this had happened to someone else recently, so whoever manages the IT side of things might want to look into this. Jennifer pulled out her phone and texted the GM in Atlanta to help me get a refund! Within minutes, I had my refund, was able to repurchase tickets for Detroit, and got in with my group! That was above and beyond!!!! She then helped me with a locker...as if she didn't already do enough The museum was clean, fun, and such a great experience overall. Jennifer was wonderful......her customer service was exactly how people should treat and help one another.

My daughter particularly enjoys the stuffed toys and puppets. I enjoy the atmosphere and fun crowd. The music is great and so is the food. They have one of the best funnel cake trucks with amazing fried Oreos, sooo good!!! Treat Dreams has an ice cream truck with their famous flavors. The ice cream cookies are the absolute best!!! They have an eclectic variety of food trucks that look and smell mouthwatering. But they could use more seating, it's very limited compared to the amount of people eating the goodies. I love the adult beverages available to purchase through tickets. They have a ginormous variety of beer and mixed drinks, plus some of the money goes toward different charities and good causes. It's ten tickets for $20, but this year I noticed you may purchase individual tickets. I prefer this option! Tickets are $2 a piece, so most beers cost around $6 or three tickets. I got the Griffinclaw pumpkin beer. It was amazing! Very pumpkin forward with a nice spice aftertaste. Most of the mixed drinks are between three and four tickets, cheaper than most bars. I've even seen some for two tickets. The parking can be challenging. We were able to find a good spot and only paid $3.00. But I wonder if it gets more challenging in the evening hours. I bet this a fun time at night. This is a great event when paired with the Funky Ferndale fair. I look forward to next year.
