....Fly'Yan Monkey!! Ummm!! "Toto, WE'RE not in Kansas Anymore!!" #InFullCharacter #Oz

Thrilled, Goblin'd and Wet!! LOL This is our 2nd year attending this "LIGHTS OUT" event!! For the Treats, you know the GOOD Stuff that comes in the orange Catch-Bags on the 31st of October!! and the Captivating Costumes lit up by the Carved Lanterns path.....You cannot beat it!! Sounds like a set-up to see?! Of course it is! LOL - From the sighting of the "Head'Less Horseman," who rides one night a year in the Hall'ows searching for a head...You've Heard the story...!! .....to the Vam'Pee 'Fanged' creature, who Got to Roam Free in the dark. Along with the really cool Fictional Characters for starters!! To Scarecrows winking and speaking [I think I was pranked] and "Jamin and Shakin" to the musicals and MUCH MORE!! ...even the newest attraction this year that was 'Clearly Suspect!' Umm, that SMOG-TUNNEL, walker-of-one!! I really must admit the "village" played too much adding this! I'll just say, "a little uncertainty for about 2-3 minutes." So spooky dark tunnels, with foolery are not my friend. Overall, was "Phun and Worthy of my Flashlight." Hahahah! Hallowe'en Nights has the Spookery Classics for All Ages!! Wet or Dry there will be laughter, mystery and fun!! 'Itza a Great Annual Outing to Bring your Family and Friends!!' Till next time...

Halloween event sucked. Walked miles and miles with nothing then a random staff member in costume. Boring and train ride was worse

Pros: -LOTS of activities for little kids -Great security at all times thanks to LPD and their mobile command center -Tons of parking, thought it fills up -Local groups have fundraisers with discounted wristbands that are easy to find -Lots of food options, including stands run by local nonprofit organizations -The ice arena is open with a vending machine and bathrooms. And it's air conditioned -Handicap parking available Cons: - Free parking fills up fast -Gets a bit chaotic in the evenings when the older crowds come in -Craft show is more like a vendor show and out of the way -Some of the workers did not have appropriate sun coverage in the heat and we felt so bad they weren't provided that. -General fair overpriced everything. It was nearly 100 degrees when we went, so we brought an entire backpack of frozen water bottles as well as all the sun gear. Probably due to the heat, there were no lines and our kids were happy to zoom around keeping cool and riding everything they could. There are a bunch of toddler and kid rides which was just what we wanted. One adult wristband was enough to go on a few additional rides with our 5 year old. We brought lunch and ate at covered picnic tables. It was hot, and as adults we were sort of miserable trudging all over the blacktop, but our kids had so much fun and 6 months later, are still talking about it.

Holy cow! Year two…read moreof Maker Faire here in Detroit was faboo! Despite the heat everything was just killer. From the outside with their great tents featuring the best local and national techy/creative/innovative organizations and hackerspaces, local businesses selling their wares (t-shirts, food, etc) and amazing things to see and do (like the giant mousetrap, the massive bikes, gokart races, Theatre Bizarre, and the huge ass dragon that spits fire and scared the bejeebus out of my 3 year old cousin) there was plenty going on to make your visit worth your while. Some local eats from Buddy's Pizza, Avalon Breads, and Treat Dreams rounded out the tastes and there were even tunes from local bands in case you wanted your socks rocked off. Adding to the fun was also the indoor displays in the museum. Tickets to the event included entrance to The Henry Ford Museum so not only did you have all that amazingness that they had to offer there were also great MF bits to check out like crafty spaces for kids, tutorials on how to knit/crochet, and the Handmade Detroit section featuring a craft fair from locals selling good from artwork to jewelry, make up and housewares. NEAT! Also loved the free app you could download for the faire. Made the event even more interactive. It included the schedules, maps, and a game wherein you scanned all the checkpoints to enter into a drawing to win some prizes. Totally sweet. Extra props to the cupcake car rolling around and the water swing which I was sincerely sad I didn't get to take a ride on. Next year! I'm already eagerly anticipating their return!

This year included a large Star Wars & Star Trek exhibition, which was a huge hit. Many people in costumes & photos could be taken with Star Wars characters. There were many outside activities as well: live music, rides, go carts, robotic competition, crazy bikes, etc. The only downside was not too many food places & the few that were there were crowded & only a few places to sit & eat. Also, it was sunny & hot. No water or drink vendors, except for the beer garden. It was fun & different. Would definitely recommend & will go again! Very nice elite event.

Attended last year's Detroit Jazz Festival, I would say this 2019 event was a great improvement…read more Several stages were scattered all over downtown Detroit's Campus Martius, then Hart Plaza. Big-name sponsors such as Humana, DTE, Kia and etc give away freebies in-exchange of your personal details like contact number and email. Huge turn out of the crowd for the Jazz music. If you are planning to go next year, bring your own portable chair or seat cushion. It will be helpful for the bottom if you plan to sit down for hours to watch and listen to the concerts. Admission was free this year. The downfall of this event was the pricing for the food and drinks, quite a markup! I understand the reason..to compensate for the cost of space/rent and marketing to catch public attention. Last Sunday morning it was raining but after 2 pm, the weather was perfect. The raindrops stop falling, and there was a breeze. Dominant police visibility. It may me feel safe but remained cautious and vigilant for possible scenario. Highly recommend the festival for jazz fans.

They eliminated one entire stage and they removed large amounts of seating at two of the other stages. This makes for a very crowded and not very pleasant experience. They ruined the waterfront stage which always had a great laid back vibe and I have no reason why they pushed the stage in a tiny space with almost no seating. The music is still really good, but it seems like they don't care about the festival goers overall experience.
