I said, well, since you close at eight and it's only 5:45, I should be okay. She said the time is incorrect on the website and that I need to read the rules and hours on the door. I said I've been here several times at night and was not told I had to arrive 45 minutes before closing but even at that I was still one hour and fifteen minutes early. I said if it would help her out I wouldn't stay to dry off as I already had ordered a pizza and would leave quickly without drying off. She said....well, if the other girls choose to stay late to clean up fine, but I'm not staying and if you don't like it....tell the supervisor. Well, that's what I am doing. In my entire life I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner and I have also never sent a complaint to anyone! But this girl was the rudest person I've ever encounter in a business. The other girls have always been so sweet and kind and if I had been told I had to be there more than an hour and fifteen minutes early....I would have definitely cooperated. I do think it would be advisable to get the hours corrected on your website and also state the rules regarding spray tan.

The woman at the desk told me she would take care of the cancellation. Never did she say anything about requiring a written cancellation in order for it to be effective. Three months later I was told that I was behind three months of membership. I explained what had happened & was asked if I had proof. Of course I did not since it was verbal. They then turned the account over to collections. I once again disputed the charges in writing. Malibu came back & said that they would not waive the fees. In order to avoid this showing up on my credit report, & for that reason only, I finally paid the charges. At that time I again explained the situation & said that I strongly disputed the charges. In my mind, I did nothing wrong. I cancelled my membership & was told that it would be taken care of. I don't see it as my fault that their employee deviated from their rules. Additionally, our family does have another membership with them that had not been cancelled. It also had not been used in some time. So, Malibu has made a few hundred dollars off of that membership without having to perform. That should have been enough for them to believe my situation & waive the fees. That membership will now be cancelled as well. Any future business from our family will be taken elsewhere. We will also not recommend Malibu to any friends. This situation has resulted in a loss of revenue & unhappy customers. Poorly handled Malibu.

I gave Fun Tan multiple chances, and it was a mistake…read more Had I known this business was tied to the same ownership as Tiki Tan, I never would have signed up. I previously dealt with serious sanitation issues there (including getting ringworm after their cleaning practices declined), and unfortunately, this experience felt like history repeating itself. The biggest issue here is maintenance and reliability--they're terrible. Over multiple visits, I used beds with as many as 8 bulbs out at once. Not once--repeatedly. That's not a fluke, that's neglect. They only have two Platinum-level beds (the second-highest package you can pay for), and one of them--Bed 4--was down for 3 months. When it was finally "fixed," it reportedly fell on someone while they were getting out of it, and then it went down AGAIN. So for a large portion of my membership, I was paying for a level I was unable to gain full access to. The red light beds weren't any better. They technically have two, but one barely worked--you literally had to kick it to get it to turn on. When that one went down, everyone was forced onto the single working bed, which runs 20-minute sessions, so it was constantly booked. Near the end, I couldn't use it at all. So again--paying for access I didn't realistically have. Customer service didn't make up for any of this. Communication was unclear, issues weren't handled proactively, and when I finally raised concerns, I was offered one "comped" month and told they would waive the early termination fee... except this was at the very end of my 6-month package (which was a birthday gift from my wife). That's not a real resolution--it just feels like a way to make it sound like they helped without actually fixing anything. At the end of the day, this place has: * Ongoing maintenance problems * Broken or unreliable equipment * Limited access to higher-tier services you're paying for * Questionable sanitation history * And customer service that doesn't actually resolve issues I stuck it out longer than I should have hoping it would improve--it didn't. There are plenty of other salons out there. I'd strongly recommend going somewhere that actually maintains their equipment and values their customers. RIP to the previous owner that was amazing!
