Emily Rocks I've been with her as my stylist for years. Gentry also very helpful and has helped me out at times when needed. I got a balayage yesterday and, while the color looks amazing, the cut is awful. I explicitly said I wanted as little cut off as possible and long layers, if any. I said that I braid my hair 90% of the time and needed it to all stay back, and that I liked the blunt cut. I said that I was emotionally attached to my hair, and that it was rough for me to get 1/2 an inch trimmed in July. My hair was down to the middle of my chest. I was promised 1/2 an inch and some face framing layers. What I got was 4-6inches, with some at my shoulder length. I tried to see what was going on but didn't realize how much it was until she got to the front, and by then it was too late. I'm heartbroken because I spent a lot of time saying how I didn't really trust anyone with my hair after a horrible experience a year and a half ago. And then she completely went against what I said I wanted/needed. The comments of "I don't want you to feel like I'm making you cut your hair" the whole time she was cutting it felt very manipulative considering the fact she went against what she promised. I thought I could find something low maintenance to do with it, but went to braid my hair this morning and it completely fell out of the braid within 10 minutes. I tried letting it air dry but the layers make it look like breakage and not intentional. The color is beautiful, but I can't show it off because my hair will now be in a ponytail until I can grow it back out (something that will take at least a year for me). I feel very hurt and am back to not trusting hair stylists. read more

Emily gives amazing haircuts. However, the front desk lady is not so friendly or welcoming. The price for my ombre was $140.00 (a very fair price). My hair turned an awful orange color after 5 weeks (not what I expected). I called to ask how much toner would be; the receptionist estimated $65. In Southern California, my stylist will use a toner treatment for $30.00 These are Chicago prices, for not a salon experience. I rather get my toner done in Chicago where I work (in a much nicer salon) for the same price. I love this salon because Emily gives great haircuts. However, I probably won't return. The reception needs to work on their customer service skills and their pricing is high for the the decor/condition of the salon and general atmosphere (this is South Bend, Indiana). read more

I have gotten my hair done here for around 10 years. I have tried other salons, but I still make the 3.5 hour drive home to get my hair done. I get the brazillian blowout here (Bangs is the BEST at these!!) and usually a partial highlight. I've been going to Bangs for years. They have consistently given the best service and hair cuts/ colors. On Friday, I went in for my first mani/pedi. Summer took care of me. She was so sweet and caring about my experience. With my nails, she was more than willing to play with ideas so I'd be happy. When I left, I became very conscious of my cuticle so went back. Summer was more than willing to fix the problem! My nails look great and ready for my wedding (Today)! Thanks Summer and Bangs for nothing but great experiences! :) read more

Worst spray tan I have ever seen! My friend got one for a wedding this past weekend and all I can say is thank goodness she had a long dress and shoes that covered her feet. Her legs and feet are extremely streaky and feet are missing splotches of color. Any area that clothes touch closely, waist, the color has rubbed off. She even waited 10 hours before showering. Definitely discouraging! read more

Bangs is the best salon! I get my hair done by Laura. She is great with color and cut. Manicures are great there as well. It has a really fun and classy feel. They pamper you, but are not pretentious at all. I've recommended bangs to a ton of people and they all come back loving it and going back. Best hair coloring in town, hands down! read more
