This pub has a family run feel to it. A very charming spot to have a pint, the Fullerton Arms has some iconic vibes to it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is also one of the pubs on the Game of Thrones Door circuit. There are ten pubs throughout Northern Ireland with doors fashioned from some of the Dark Hallow trees. We were on a tour of Coastal Causeways of Northern Ireland Belfast and we stopped for lunch at Fullerton Arms. I had the chicken caesar salad and my sister had a soup. I can't remember the name. I ate at the Fullerton Arms with friends during a tour of Giant's Causeway, and it was a hearty and delicious meal after walking around all day! The ambiance is very cozy with lots of wood, beer, and laughter. It definitely has sort of a Game of Thrones theme, leaning into the show's popularity, with it's proximity to the Dark Hedges (King's Road filming location for GOT). It has a dragon carved on the front door that was one of 10 doors made commemorating the show, along with a costume from the show and a collection of swords at the entrance. But even with that modern touch of Game of Thrones theming, it still holds its classic historical style (built in 1928!), so you get a little of both eras. As I mentioned, the food is also fantastic. I had the Steak and Guinness Pie, which was like a hearty stew of beef, veggies, and a thick savory broth - with a large puffed pastry baked on top that you can push in our take off and dip! So good. And the beers they had on offer were nice and cold/crisp for the hot day we had. I chose a local brew called Sorley Boy's Stash Golden Ale. I don't think they make that particular flavor anymore, but any draught you choose at Fullerton Arms will be amazing. If you find yourself near the Fullerton Arms or stop there during a tour for a bite to eat, you definitely will not regret anything you get there! read more

When in Ballintoy, you basically have a choice of two places to eat. We were there for three days so we could try both. Both are good. I think I prefer this one a little bit better. It has a nice atmosphere inside and they do have the Game of Thrones door that leads into the place. The food was delicious and the service was good and friendly. read more

We had a flat tire about 20 yards from this business. Unfortunately we had insurance to help fix the tire but no cell service to call for help. The amazing staff let us use their phones several times and even answered the call from the garage giving them directions to our car. The bartender was so polite and welcoming while we waited and didn't make us feel like we needed to wait outside. Truly, I think this was one of my favorite interactions in N. On a Game of Thrones tour and stopped here which was a great spot. Got the beef hamburger and chips which was delicious and extremely filling. Very cool decorations including one of the rare Game of Thrones doors made out of the Dark Hedges cedar trees and a room full of decor including an Iron Throne photo op, house banners, and a Westeros map. We stopped here for lunch after going to Carrick-a-Rede and before going to the Giants Causeway. I think it's more of a 3.5 from my personal experience. The food was a little hit or miss, but overall good. The hamburger was a little over cooked and the fries were on the bland side for me even though I got the garlic flavored ones. I got a large order of the Fullerton mussels which were a generous portion, fresh, and delicious. The sauce was a cream, wine, and onion based sauce. For appetizers, we got the salt and pepper shrimp which were tempura battered with some type of curry type seasoning and an aioli dipping sauce which wasn't bad. The nachos were also decent but the dipping sauce that came with it was more of a curry seasoned sauce rather than melted cheddar. Just to warn you if you're expecting American style nachos, but they were good. People in our group got the fish and chips, the beef stew, the veggie burger, and the cauliflower entree. They were tasty, but my friend didn't care for the sauce that came with the cauliflower. The service was fairly quick, but not as attentive to making sure we had enough utensils or napkins. I think it was the end of their lunch rush and probably a little tired. Overall, I think you would enjoy eating here. Just be warned about a little bit of adjusting expectations for the nachos and fries as not being what we typically get in the US. read more

The food here was terrific! One of the best meals we had in Northern Ireland. Had a three course meal there that started with a delicious potato leek soup, followed up by salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The salmon was really flavorful and well made. Lastly was a Mars bar flavored Eaton Mess that was pretty good. What's really fun about Fullerton Arms is all the game of thrones stuff. They have one of the gorgeous GoT doors found throughout NI, an iron throne to sit on with a cloak to wear, and a bunch of banners and memorabilia. Unknown to us, we stop by this restaurant that called GOT door #6 and the food was surprising very good. I think it is one of our favorites meal in Ireland. we were greatly surprised how good the food was, since we just left London and the food there was ok... There wasn't anyone in the restaurant, but us. 1. We came in between lunch and dinner time. 2. It was April and not peak tourist season. 3. I think it is more a local or tourist restaurant , as it is out of the way from major city. Such a hoping place. Packed to the brim with tourists, however when I asked the waiter politely for a four top she sat us right away. As her lone of patrons when to the back of the pub for check out she promised she'd be with us as soon as she could, and she was. Her name was Paige. She was perfectly prompt and even patient as I order hot tea and my peers their pints. We had lovely food for lunch, from a hearty seafood chowder served with brown bread and butter, steak and ale pie and one juicy burger with chips. Everything was warm and delicious. They have clean toilets and settings. Paige's colleagues would occasionally check on us, bring water or anything we may need. It's off season and still uber busy and when I told Paige was an incredible job they were doing she said that this time of year is easy. Something to keep in mind during busier seasons then right? Stopped by here for lunch on a bus tour to the Giant's Causeway but I found the food to be very poor quality. There were very few options on the menu (stew, soup and sandwich, burgers, veg stir fry), and the dining room was really old. Me and friend ordered the soup/ sandwich combo, and there was only an option of white bread. The bread was mainly full of mayonnaise so it was really unhealthy, and the soup was like canned soup in that it was very watery with an artificial taste. It also had a strange colour to it. We paid £6 for it which I thought was high for such poor quality food. Also it took quite a long time to arrive. Also the hole for the toilet paper dispenser was really narrow making to almost impossible to pull out. The only good thing that I found was that the staff were friendly, but overall I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch. read more

We arrived yesterday in time for a lovely lunch of sandwiches and soup followed by fish and chips. The fish was extremely tasty and batter crispy. The we had a fantastic 4 course meal last night of chowder, ribs and chicken combo, apple pie and Baileys coffee. The portion sizes were perfect, service and presentation was superb......and more importantly tasted out of this world. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was really comfy. Had an en suite bathroom with a wonderful shower. This was followed this morning by an amazing breakfast of sausage,egg,bacon, mushroom, tomato, beans, pancake and potato bread. Definitely worth checking out!! A great place to stay when in Ballintoy. There is a wee shrine to Game of Thrones and the proprietors Sean and Geraldine have got the 9th carved door from the trees that were blown down at the Dark Hedges. Irish Stew was acceptable, but bland and certainly not the best I've had though. We were a bus tour, given four choices to make ahead of time which seemed reasonable. Service was quick enough but not very friendly or welcoming. My husband got Guinness braised beef and that was my favorite. Would give them a four star for that. read more

We were part of a bus tour and stopped for lunch. They called ahead with our orders. Of course the selection was kept limited for ease of the process. I had the Guinness and beef. It came with fries and a very flaky pastry. It was very good. I would says four star. However my wife had the Irish stew. That was very bland. Some of the staff were not very friendly. We went for a quick meal in between visiting the Rope Bridge and the Giant's Causeway and clearly we arrived at the wrong time! We arrived at 1.30pm on a Friday, just after a small tour van had arrived and just before a large tour bus whose orders had already been rung through so we had a bit of a wait for our food but it wasn't much more than 15 minutes. Three of the four people in the group had the cod and all reported it was delicious. The batter was light, crispy and tasty and the chips that were ordered as a side were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The garlic wedges were also excellent. There is some knowledge among the staff about food intolerances eg. gluten free foods on their menu but it was a challenge to find something appropriate and they don't use free range meats which was sad but can't be asking for the world! Overall, it was a nice place, the dining room especially was really good. The service was a bit slow but I can understand they were run off their feet. It's a decent small village meal. read more

This place seems to do a lot of tour bus business. The downside of that for everyone else at lunch is that they don't let walk-ins order off the full menu -- at least that's what happened to us. We arrived around 1:30pm, as two buses were leaving. The server who greeted us (very nice) consulted with the man behind the bar, and came back and told us that we could have lunch, but we could only order off the short menu (a card with about 6-7 items). We were OK with that, and had a fine seafood chowder, but we did feel like second-class customers. Be aware that there are other options -- looks like there was a cafe just at the top of the road down to the harbour. read more
