My water heater kept giving error code of blockage, and I had to reset it every other day. The tech Anthony recommended descaling. I was charged close to $900 for diagnosing the water heater and descaling it. It only took him 5 min to set up the descaling, the rest of the time was just waiting for the heater to flush itself. My water heater gave the same error code the same night. I called Plumbing Express again. Another tech came, he said he couldn't find anything wrong, he said maybe due to strong wind. He just hit the reset button, which I knew to do it myself. I called Plumbing Express again. This time they didn't come, and gave me $2,000 quote to repair the piping and all that. I debated for a long time between repairing and replacing the whole system (my system was only 5 years old). I decided to call another plumbing company for second opinion. They came and found the inlet water filter being extremely dirty and blocked. They cleaned it, and now my water heater is working like new again, and the new plumbing company charged me less than $100. Cleaning the filter was supposed to be part of the annual maintenance descaling that I paid Plumbing Express to do, which they obviously didn't do and I paid $900 for. They even mis-diagnosed and wanted me to fix the whole plumbing system for $2-3k. It is insane! Another issue was during the first appointment of fixing my water heater, I also asked Anthony to look at my shower faucet because it didn't control temperature very well. It was working fine besides the temperature part. He unassembled it to look inside. He said the cartridge needs to be replaced. He had to look for it and would call me back. Anthony put the shower faucet back. The same day when I used the shower, I turned the faucet and it fell off. It was very obvious that Anthony assembled it incorrectly. He came back and couldn't put it back because the parts inside broke already. He said he would call me back about replacement quote. Never called me back. I had to call office multiple times. After that, they said the faucet is too old, there is no replacement part, I would have to replace my entire master shower system. Not only Plumbing Express didn't fix my shower faucet, they completely broke it. They turned a simple problem into something they would cost me tens of thousands of dollars to fix. Now I'm still living with my faucet broken off and still trying to figure out a way to fix it without breaking my bank.

On Monday April 15 two plumbers from GOBP showed up on time to repair the main water line next to our meter. When they arrived they estimated $900-1100 for the repair, which seemed high but, as they stated, this was an estimate which, I assumed, could go up or down if the job requires more or less time or materials. The two plumbers started to work immediately. One plumber dug out a 1x2x1' section of soil, then the other installed a couple feet of blue PEX hose and a shutoff valve. The first plumber replaced the soil and sod and the job was finished in one hour. So, two plumbers, together working one hour, with about $50 in parts. For that they charged $960. They lowered the price to $900, after l pointed out it was a one hour repair. I noted out that each plumber was charging me more than $400 an hour for their labor, which is more than doctors, engineers, lawyers and other professionals make. They replied, "we charge by the job, not by the hour." But the quote for the job was just that--a quote, an estimate! They wouldn't budge. I paid, wrote a review here that night and thought I was done with them. Four days later, on Friday evening, I got a call from "Chris" who wanted to discuss my review. Chris tried to convince me that they were fair, that I got a good deal, but that inflation has just been "really hard" on everyone. I disagreed. The plumbers showed up, priced the job high and showed little flexibility to adjust the price when the work was less than estimated. If they need to estimate high to cover their tails, fine, but don't use as an excuse to gouge me. Chris then tried to say it was my fault that they overcharged, because I didn't ask them up front how long it would take, or try to negotiate a lower price. Then he explained that his company loses money on other jobs...and I inferred from this that he is somehow justified in overcharging other customers like me, because he has to make up that money someplace. I agreed to modify my original review, to state that the plumbers did give me an estimate at the start of work (according to Chris I should have included that in my review, and that I didn't try to negotiate the estimate before they started work. Think about how ridiculous that sounds: "give me a lower estimate, please.". The morning after we spoke, I looked for my review on here to make the changes I promised, and it was gone.

Brian confirmed it was a leak by shutting off the water to the house and checking the meter--we were still using water. Our basement has never flooded before (in 25 years) but it looks like some water may have come in near the new water heater. It seems like it should have been raised off the ground at least a couple of inches when it was installed or had a pan of some sort to protect the bottom of the water heater.
