My unplanned hospital transfer with the birth of my 3rd child was incredibly sacred and impactful with Kathe Gibbs.

If you are looking for a midwife and have come across Kathe Gibbs to consider as your midwife, look no further. She is the most skilled, educated, experienced and passionate midwife I have known. I planned all three of my births at home and fortunately met Kathe Gibbs to assist me with my second and third births. She was outstanding in prenatal care, during delivery and in postpartum care. I highly recommend her. I was so well prepared emotionally, physically, nutritionally and spiritually and I have Kathe to thank. My husband will also tell you he was most comfortable with her. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to work with her. You will not find a more experienced and dedicated midwife whose love and passion to serve women in birth equals her commitment to your safety and the safety of your baby. My home birth experience with Kathe in the birth of our second child was the most deeply intimate experience with my husband and impactful personal growth experience for myself. I wish all moms and babies could experience birth with a Kathe Gibbs. Kathe infuses subtle wisdom and conscious awareness every step of the way if you are clear and open enough to hear it. She guarded and protected me from expending energy in places that did not serve me. Statements I learned from her such as "we birth as do we live" or "birth is the opportunity to learn to be ourselves in the presence of another" still guide me in my personal growth to this day. The safety of my baby and my wellbeing were of paramount importance as she guided my husband and I into and through the most intimate and powerful experience of our lifetime in both the home and hospital experience. The unplanned hospital transfer for the birth of my third child with Kathe Gibbs was handled with respect and care in support of my journey and with the utmost professionalism and respect toward all hospital professionals we interfaced with. I welcome you to private message me if you have questions. If you are lucky enough to have found midwife Kathe Gibbs and if she is available to you at the time you are due, all is aligning for you to be open to the most powerful birth experience with a superior midwife.

100/10. This review is long overdue but all I have to say is if you are thinking about it JUST DO…read moreIT. These ladies are amazing and put their heart and soul into everything they do for us Mamas. I've read some scary reviews before about doulas and such, but they are far beyond far from those unfortunate experiences. I was planning for a water birth, but I ended up giving birth on my bed because life happens. They made a list for all the supplies I would need for birth and for postpartum including instructions plus they were there every step of the way guiding me and my husband through this new journey. Selena is so down to earth. She really is like a mother to us when we're in her care. This was the best decision we have ever made. I was 19 when I gave birth and now we are expecting another one this July 2022. So of course we had to have our next baby with the best care we've ever had. Even when I had to be transported to the hospital they drove me there (shoutout to Valerie too) to get some stitching up down there and my doula Jasmine was there every step of the way. And while I was at the hospital Selena and Ezzine were holding it down at the house with my newborn giving my husband some one on one time with him. I am so grateful I came across their page on Instagram because I'm an Instaholic if that's even a thing. But I was in the mode of searching for alternatives because it was the pandemic season and I wasn't trying to stay in a hospital by myself for the birth of our first child. I came across a few pages before I landed on Hale Kealaula and when I seen their page I was like "Yup, this is the one. Where's their contact info?" The rest was history. They made me feel powerful and I felt it because they never left my side they just gave me space when I needed it and I really loved having them around. My husband and I love to brag about our home birth because it's something that made us so happy and we just want to share that happiness with everyone. Just remember that everyone is different and every birth is going to be different which it makes it all more special. Mahalo Hale Kealaula for loving on our family.

You could be in no greater care than with these incredible women. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have had this experience. During my first pregnancy, I was living in LA and had every intention of giving birth in a hospital. By 35 weeks pregnant, I felt uneasy with the care I was receiving by the OBGYN and wanted to seek out other options. Long story short, I ended up hiring a midwife and doula and gave birth at home 3 weeks later. It was one of the best days of my life. With this second pregnancy, I knew I wanted another home birth from the absolute get-go, so this was my first experience having midwife care from the beginning of my pregnancy up until 6 weeks postpartum. Selena, Jasmine, and Amber have been the most gracious, helpful, knowledgeable, supportive, and loving team I could have ever hoped for. No matter what hour of the day (or night) they have been there to answer any questions and guide me through the entire journey. The level of care I received is unmatched. Truly, I can go on and on about how much I am an advocate for home birth, especially with a team like this one. I had the home birth or my dreams, in large part due to them. I trust no team more than them. We are family. Love them forever.

The Medical Assistant was incredibly polite and full of knowledge, you can tell she has been there a long time. Ms. Quealy was incredibly thorough and explained everything to me considering this was my first ever OBGYN appt. She explained to me types of birth control, the following procedures, and what to expect afterwards the appt. I did a pap smear, got STD tested, etc. all in a single appt. not lasting more than 45 minutes! I highly recommend seeing her as she made me comfortable in my own body. Results will be called in to me, sent via mail, and posted online at kp.org. Book your appt. today online at kp.org or call 8084322000 today.

Dana was very personable, down to earth, and she made me feel well taken care of. She was NOT one of those distant doctors that awkwardly make small talk, or are rushing through your visit so they don't take time to explain things. Instead, she felt like a friend that knew how uncomfortable these appointments can be and came right along side you to make you feel as comfortable as possible. She joked, "I think we're tied with dentists for appointments no one really looks forward to" haha. This was my first pap smear, and she was soo understanding. She explained everything as she went, checked in with me to make sure everything was okay, and overall made me feel a lot more comfortable than I expected. (As I got onto the table she said, "I'm sorry, I know this is awkward but we'll try to make it as un-awkward as possible!" haha) Also, although this was completely unrelated to OB-matters, when she noticed some dry patches on my stomach, she kindly gave me recommendations for a lotion that helps! Originally, I had an earlier appointment with a different doctor but when I saw their reviews weren't very good, I switched to see Dana, waited a little longer, and I'm so glad I did!!

My confidence took a hit knowing I couldn't provide for my little one right away. I knew something had to be done and a referral from my husband's cousin led me to Yuko!!!! Yuko helped my husband's cousin clear up her mastitis and since I came in one week postpartum, turns out I did have plenty milk. Yuko listened patiently and closely to my concerns, then used her magic to carefully massage out the areas needed to get the milk flowing while answering all my questions. I was crazy leaking the next two days since Yuko massaged out all the old milk. The whole time I felt nutured in this safe space. I came out of my inititial two hour appointment so much more knowledgeable about my breastfeeding journey and the next steps for my family. Yuko also helped me see what I needed to feel like for baby to latch properly and comfortably. This latching part and deciding what's in future for baby is still in progress, and I'm so happy to have Yuko on team baby. A big mahalo to Yuko for restoring my confidence and reminding me that I got this! I'd highly reccomend any newborn moms see Yuko. The biggest plus to me was how easy and flexible it is to schedule with Yuko. She is understanding if things come up and can adjust to your schedule as needed.

HMSA started sending me letter after letter reminding to take care of my reproductive health. I half-heartedly asked my friends if they liked their OBGYN or gynecologists and most of them said, "Meh." With no ringing endorsements, I dutifully called my gynecologist and to my surprise, her office number forwarded to a Dr. Lynette Tsai's office. At first, the receptionist offered me an appointment with a midwife, not Dr. Tsai. Confused, I asked if midwives did "routine checkups under the hood." The receptionist signed and said, "Or you could see Dr. P. since Dr. Tsai is booked for months." And I was like, "Is that a midwife or a medical doctor? Is Dr. P. a woman?" The receptionist revealed that Dr. P. was indeed a medical doctor, a woman, and her name was Michele Pangilinan. Two weeks later, I showed up to my appointment. I was nervous as pap smears are not pleasant and who knew what kind of person Dr. P. was. The office is nice and clean (you take your shoes off by the door) and the equipment was modern. The nurse who weighed me and took my blood pressure was very nice. I asked her if Dr. P. was as nice as her and the nurse said, "She's so nice! You'll love her." I was wary since I hadn't been able to find many reviews about her (they were mostly about Dr. Tsai) online. But luckily, Dr. Pangilinan was wonderful! She was friendly, sweet and reassuring. She was professional yet very personable. She made me feel comfortable and answered my many, many questions patiently. As a bonus, Dr. P. didn't lecture me for not seeing an OBGYN for seven years. She told me, "We don't judge, these exams are tough enough!" She's relatively young (we're the same age, late 30s) but she has a lot of experience. Dr. P. is exactly the kind of OBGYN I've wanted: a cheerful, positive, kind, doctor who is competent and makes me feel comfortable. If anyone asks me about my gynocologist, instead of the typical "meh" reply I'd received from my friends, I would instead highly recommend Dr. Pangilinan. She's awesome! As a bonus for those who live in Central Oahu or the Westside, Dr. P. also has offices in Mililani and Kapolei!
