Bottom line upfront, According to Rob, Full Battle Rattle Arms is not insured and now I have a pile of ruined barrels.
We worked out a deal to chop, recrown, and rethread a large number of barrels from 16.1" down to 11.75". Rob seems to come across as well credentialed. The threads leave a lot to be desired, and I was willing to clean them up on my own if they were cut to the correct length. They were not. The way to properly measure a gun barrel is to measure from the bolt face to the muzzle. Rob included the barrel extension in the measurement and I am now left with barrels I cannot use. They are about 1/2" too short and will not work in the SBR they are used on. I called Rob and explained that the barrels were measured incorrectly and he told me that he actually did not measure them at all. He simply went off of where he remembered me pointing to on one of the barrels rather than the actual dimension that we talked about.
Rob, initially seemed determined to make it right and was apologetic. He offered to pay for the barrels that he ruined, but explained he could not afford to replace to pay for replacement barrels at that time. He explained that he was not insured and would have to pay for this out of pocket. He talked me down from what I actually paid for the barrels to $1,000 and asked for some time to come up with the money. I agreed to his terms as that was certainly better than nothing, but he still has not kept up any part of this deal.
I followed up with him, asking for resolution (it has been a few weeks since we last spoke on the matter) and he told me "Nothing has changed, all I can tell you is to take me to court". Which most people recognize is a "no-win" situation for me. I warned him I would be leaving this review and his response was "Ok, I'll reply to it. Do what you want"
So, here I am. I've been nothing but kind, understanding, and patient with Rob, but unfortunately, based on this experience, it is my opinion that attitude and willingness to cooperate doesn't seem to hold much weight with him, and after this experience, it is my opinion that although he is educated in the trade, he lacks the necessary experience to be taking on this level of work.
I do not recommend Full Battle Rattle Arms.
Update: It is not that I am being overly picky here, it is that the barrels were cut to the incorrect length. The spec I provided was 11.75" the barrels were cut to 11.25". This reduced the available dwell time and made the barrels unusable. Normally such a barrel has 2.25" of dwell time, now it is down to 1.75" of dwell time. This is a total difference of 25%, which is massive. You might be out labor, but I am out the actual money I spent on the barrels, plus the replacements. You lost $700 on potential income, because you made a mistake. I lost out on over $3000 and several months because you made a mistake. Then you dismiss it as merely dissatisfaction? You should be ashamed.
I hope future customers ask you for proof of insurance because you specifically told me you were not insured. I most certainly did not make that up. read more
