They have the worst spaghetti in Springfield IL. Theres a reason its empty. I think the older women who work there have given up. Good spot for pizza! They can be kind of difficult on the phone... just seems like the people taking orders aren't very good at phone communication. We ordered 2 large pizzas for carry out for our Whiskey & Cigar Club meeting. The food was ready when we arrived. The worker at the window was very courteous. The prices were better than anticipated so that was a plus. When it was time to eat back at our location all of those present loved it. You have to go to the counter to order off of a paper menu. Unfortunately if you don't know the menu well the staff behind the counter get annoyed with you quickly. So my wife got spaghetti and meat sauce I got a 10 inch pizza. That plus two medium sodas came out to 27 dollars. Which isn't bad at all. The issue is that the spaghetti came out on a paper plate as well as the "side salad." The spaghetti had a decent flavor, but the sauce was so thin it did not stick to the spaghetti. My pizza was on a cracker thin crust which is my favorite style of crust. However it was greasy and the sauce was very acidic. All in all I don't know if I would go out of my way to go back. I have a problem with paying to eat at a sit down place and getting paper plates. If it was a food truck different story, however this place is just aight. 3 stars for decent prices, food ok, and came out fast and hot. We ordered everything at one time and only the two people with soda's got their drinks and no one got water, then we got salads and appetizers , still no water. Came here to see the gas station on our Route 66 trip. Worst station we have seen by far. Go a 10 inch pizza and sampler to split with my wife. Sampler was so bad it was hard to figure what each item was. That said it was cheap. The pizza they had left a paper that must separate the uncooked crust on part of the pizza, added toppings and cooked it. Only ruined a couple slices and the sauce and toppings we're good. It did teen like massed produced frozen crust and the paper may show. Service was great and prices were cheap. All this including a soda for 22.49 but I'd rather pay more for quality. read more

2nd time in a month I've called to order food. First time was for delivery, as their online menu clearly states delivery. The woman who answered the phone instantly has an attitude and tells me if I want delivery I better call grub hub or come pick it up. I say thank you and decide I will not patronize a locally owned business with staff who answers the phone in that manner. 3 weeks later I decide to give them another chance. Call to place my order for pick up and a young man answers, very polite, as I request a buy one get one free pasta order which they participate in through a local fundraiser. I place my first order which is fine and the second order was for lasagna. The man asks the woman who previously answered my first call about lasagna and she instantly snaps off we haven't had that for 3-5 years in her same horrible, condescending tone. I then mention "well, your online menu states you gave these items" and ask what else from my order do they not have. The man tells me what they do not carry all the while the same woman in the background continues to run her mouth and patronize the young man. For a staple of and involvement the Fulgenzi's have with this community, her attitude is completely unacceptable. I will not be patronizing this establishment and will make sure to spread the word, this lady needs sent home and maybe fired for a reality check. Glad I didn't spend over $70+ on a meal for friends and family. My family and friends will be doing likewise. I know the food is great, however, Ms.HatesHerLife needs a reality check. I recently started eating here, food and prices are good, but the staff is the reason I wont be returning. After 4 visits in the last few weeks, I can say that it was only my first visit that anyone was friendly and showed any customer service skills. This last trip really did me in when a fellow diner's food was not cooked as requested. The item was recooked but when it was brought to her there wasn't a simple apology for the oversight but a very curt "You didn't order it without onions." Just because it wasn't on the receipt doesn't mean she didn't order it that way. When the original item was brought to her, she tried to tell the server but he just walked away. I can deal with the flat, bored expressions and responses when I place my order, but this is just too much. read more

Solid lunch spot. Double cheese was good as were the fries. Friend got a slim-jim, which is pretty much a ham sandwich on a hogie with all the trimmings. that was good too. Pizza looked tasty .The fried mushrooms were strait from a box and nasty. I swear I will never eat fried srhooms again unless I'm at Gabitonis. Food is cooked to order and it a good twenty minutes to get our order. Would go back to try the pizza.. Great sandwiches! I was visiting from Chicago and my family was meeting at Fulgenzi's. The decor inside was very "Route 66", license plates on the wall, an old gas pump, it was very tastefully decorated. I saw someone with one of the sandwiches and it looked INCREDIBLE. I had decided on the meatball sub and I was not disappointed, the meatballs were cooked perfectly, the bread tasted fresh, and the melted cheese was great. My brother and his fiancé had the roast beef and said it was delicious as well. Will definitely be coming back when I'm the area again! read more

I stop here every time I'm in the area, which is usually about twice a year for a sports event. I have only ever gotten pasta-the tortellini Alfredo is my favorite. It's always delicious, prepared quickly, and I think the prices are reasonable-especially considering that you get a salad and breadsticks with your pasta dish. The pizzas look fantastic, but I've never had them, and I have no idea what the heck a 'horseshoe' is, but I know people that like those from their menu as well. I have been going to Fulgenzi's for many many years. Wanting to support a family-run business during COVID-19 pandemic, I thought we'd order two pizzas from them- an extra large and a large (same way I always order). The older woman taking my order snapped, "We don't have extra large. We have 7", 10", 14" or 16"." Having never been asked the sizes in all these years, I said I assumed the extra large would be the 16"? She said she didn't know. Other people, she said, call that a large. I said, "Ok, if the 7" is a small, the 10" is a medium, the 14" is a large, then the 16" would be your extra large, right?" She said, "For some people...." What?! Ok.... So I said I'll take the 16", and then a large (I didn't know the next size down but assumed she's know what I meant....) She interrupted with "You mean pizza?" Hmmm. Yes. Pizza. A large, please. "We don't have large. We have a 7", a 10", a 14" or a 16"......" OMG. This went on for a couple of minutes.... (who's on first!). I have never had this much trouble ordering two pizzas. I think I must have interrupted her break - it was pretty obvious she wasn't happy about my order from the get-go. I told her not to worry about it and hung up, then called Gabatoni's instead......Was able to order XL and L, no problem. If you are thinking about helping out a small business don't bother with Fulgenzi's - they must not need (or even want) business at this time. read more

I will never eat there again! I'm surprised the health department hasn't shut this place down! My family and I used to eat there all the time. The food was good, the people were always friendly, it was great place to meet for lunch. The last time my family and I ate there was in October of 2017. We sat down and within 5min of sitting in one of the booths I had a cockroach crawling on me. One, gross eeeew but I killed it and moved on. But there were more, once we got our food it was clear they had a bug problem. I had to flick one off my baby, several off the table. All in all we counted 15 roaches!!!!!!!!!! There are a few items at this restaurant that are absolutely exceptional: probably one of the best cheeseburgers in the state! Have a great tenderloin and their chili Mac is really very unique. Their pizzas are also very tasteful. Note to patrons: please don't eat the paper plates. Also has a great chili dog! The restaurant evolved from mainly ice cream products & a few sandwiches. A few years back the owners did some serious renovations. Once when I was there, the owner invited me to taste three different types of french fries ... I've been there twice now and I'd definitely go back again. They claim to have the world's best burger. I wouldn't push that claim that far. I just recently started working at a law firm in Spfld IL and told my co-workers I wanted spaghetti, they suggested Fulgenzi's. I called and placed three different orders and when I got there to pick them up the most rude woman I have ever dealt with at a restaurant came to the pick up window and proceeded to yell at me and tell me they don't have time to ring our orders up separately. Really! If we had all come in there to eat rather than a pick up would we have had to ring them up together and then figure it out when we get back to work? That is exactly what she told me we would have to do in the future. I advised that was not true as in the future I would no spend my hard earned money on their mediocre spaghetti.
