We first noticed this restaurant because the name in Chinese is "like to be with you". It's Friday…read morethat after my appointment around the area. They have different special offers each day from Monday to Friday. We ordered the special Linyi Style Stir Fried Chicken on Friday. And we also ordered Boiled Basa Fish with pickled Cabbage & Green Pepper. They were pretty traditional Chinese styles. The white rice or brown rice both can have as much as we could. That's good for men. We both like here, but they don't offer specials during the weekends. But they do have other special packages, just a bit different. And they also have the membership that we could collect points and then we could use the points to get drinks or different snacks or dishes.

New sauerkraut fish soup spot in Markham…read more A chain from asia that has finally made it's way to Markham. They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

Came in to get a cake for dessert. I've tried their mango meringue before and got the strawberry…read moreone since the boys love strawberries. You get 5% discount with cash. The cake was so delicious, light and crunchy. Everything about it was good and even friends were wondering where I picked up this cake. Will definitely come back again, they had a cute cafe and some people were getting drinks as well.

The very first time my family bought a birthday cake from this sister cafe of Maxim (on Bayview),…read morewe received a terrible product. We had ordered the black sesame cake and when we picked it up from the store, the employee not only gave me the blankest stare, but also picked an EXISTING cake from the gallery/window and proceeded to THEN bring it to the back to the kitchen to squeeze "Happy Birthday" on it. This gave me the worst premonition as I felt the cake was not freshly made. My fears were confirmed later on when we cut up slices and served it after dinner that night. The sponge was super dry and practically stale as well. I was quite surprised that Maxim would allow a product like that to stay in their gallery, let alone have it be served up to a customer past a certain period of time. ANYWAYS, fast forward to recently, my cousin ordered her wedding cake here. It was a matcha cream, multi-layer sponge cake w/ a layer of strawberry jam near the bottom. This cake was MUCH better than the aforementioned one we bought in the past and the sponge was not dry this time. One thing my cousin mentioned though which imo was lame, was that they charged her $25 labour to put real roses on top of her cake. The kicker is that my cousin had to bring her own flowers! So not only did she have to provide them her own flowers but they also charged her a BS labour fee (all you gotta do is cut the tops of the flowers off and stick em on the cake). Total money grab lol. Given the sum of my cake experience w/ this offshoot of the original Maxim (black sesame one and then this much better matcha wedding cake), I'd say 3 stars overall is fair and balanced. Although, if I'm gonna order from Maxim again on my own, I think I'll stick to their almond meringue cakes at the OG location.
