This place is a small spot. I was a little iffy at first when we walked in. Was up in the area for work and we happened to find this spot. For my surprise.... the sashimi actually tasted pretty darn good for a sushi spot up here in the northern area lol. Had no fishy smell no nothing. Nice thick cut, Wasabi was strong, ginger tasted fresh. Of course I ate every single veggie on the tray!. The shumai, gyoza, and grilled squid tasted good. It was like any other sushi spot I have been to. I was mainly there for the sashimi anyway and I approve!. I don't do rolls, so you'll have to try that out yourself. Oh..... we are going back again haha

Our experience with dinner was a mixed bag - 3 stars. Two of us stopped in for dinner and we sat at the front sushi bar. I ordered 2 tuna based sushi rolls and my friend got a shrimp tempura dinner with 2 sides. I topped things off with green tea flavored mochi ice cream. GOOD: Our food was very good, no complaints whatsoever. It came out quickly. And our server was very friendly. I really enjoyed watching their young children (very cute!) helping with some menial tasks in the front of the house. Finally, I felt the prices were reasonable. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: Our server was very, very slow...friendly...but slow as hell. In fact, we had to flag her down every time we needed something, like when we ordered, when we needed beverage refills, when we wanted our tabs, etc. Kinda lame since it wasn't busy and I counted at least 3 employees. Since we sat at the front bar, I was able to watch food prep. I observed several unsafe food handling practices. In addition, there were fruit flies hovering all over the place. This was very concerning. I never would have seen this stuff if we sat at a table. (As a certified ServSafe Manager, I'm fully trained on basic safe food handling practices.) I don't want to pick on them or get into more detail on the food handling thing. But personally, I don't think I'd eat here again. (If I hadn't happened to see the food handling issues, I would have gone with 4 stars.) Despite my concerns, I'm being generous and going with 3 stars because the food tasted so good and the employees were so nice. -Maxx

Quaint restraint. My hubby and I visited the area from Duluth, MN. Was excited to see a sushi place in the area. We tried out a couple of the chefs rolls and were really bummed out that there wasn't any tobiko on our roll that had it listed on the menu. When we asked about it the waitress said they don't have tobiko, but then turned back around and said, 'we know it's on the menu but people don't like it so we just stopped putting it on the roll'. The only reason we picked that roll is because it was one of the only ones with tobiko listed as an ingredient. Sushi tasted fine but the experience with the waitress rubbed us the wrong way.

The sushi was excellent and very well priced. The service was great too. The menu had lots of great options. Everything we had was so delicious.

Food: good but items are not as described in menu. "Spider roll-deep fried soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, tobiko". My spider roll has no tobiko and was substitute with...lettuce (see picture). Music: Chinese songs Setting: very casual Price: good for portion size

Very good sushi, especially for a smaller town up north! Everything we had was very good! I brought a group of extended family here for lunch and everyone enjoyed it fully! The food was great, the service fast and friendly, and a nice atmosphere. We started with the edamame and gyoza. Both were polished off immediately. We then moved on to an American Roll, Shrimp Tempura Udon, Chicken Teriyaki Box, Tuna Avocado roll, Veggie tempura roll, Spicy Tuna roll, Alaska roll, Ell Avo roll, Tuna scallion roll, and one order of the sashimi. Nothing was left on anyone's plate and our party ranged in ages from 66 to 8. Personally I had the Tuna Avocado and Veggie Tempura rolls. I enjoyed both and the tuna avocado was excellent! I also really enjoyed their gyoza. Another nice touch was they serve ice cold Kirin Ichiban beer! Everyone agreed we'd be back for a return visit for sure! A very solid choice in Grand Rapids!

Quality Food & Quality Service…read more This place has my recommendation based on one visit in Springtime to Northern Minnesota. A beautiful, rustic setting, excellent service, and the food was better than I expected. We ordered three sandwiches: Rueben, Italian Beef, Walleye, and also Homemade Lasagna. All delicious, all correctly made, and each was Huge! I had the Rueben but I'd order any of these next time I'm in the area. I can't forget to mention our waitservice - Nevaeh was fully attentive but not overpresent. Outstanding - she's young, but already a professional. It's pretty remote, but if you're anywhere around there this is the place to get grub! Check it out!

Added some Italian dishes to and already nice menu with steaks fish and chicken. Some nice improvements on the outside seating area too. I love the new bar area. It's got a great vibe "Everybody at the bar gettin' tipsy" and such a nice selection to choose from. "Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey. They know me and Jack Daniels got a history". But know your limit because "One, here comes the two to the three to the four" .... Everything about our meal was perfect!…read more Background: we've been to almost every restaurant within 30 miles of Crosslake, most many times. We somehow missed this place. We would rank this meal as one of our best in the area. I had the crab cake sandwich, upgraded to include the dinner salad. The sandwich is one of the best things I've ever eaten. And, am pretty sure the amazing blu cheese dressing was house made. I tasted my husband's food, and can confirm... his cheeseburger upgraded to have the Cesar salad and the shrimp bisque was FANTASTIC!!! Will definitely be back!

So many things to tell you(long post), I was searching the area near our summer rental for a good…read morespot for my birthday dinner. As I read the menu for this restaurant, I was getting that excited feeling that I stumbled upon a place where they really know good food. The Italian nachos looked promising as well as the reuben egg rolls. Sandwiches, wraps, burgers, oooh! What's this is see? Omaha Hereford ribeye? IMHO black angus is highly overrated. I love a good heffer! So we seat ourselves, the place is popping busy, they're having an all you can eat crab leg special this Friday night. We start ordering off the menu. Beverages to start, nothing fancy, just a good local craft beer and a summer mocktail. Appetizers, my birthday, I get to choose. I decided on the reuben egg rolls. For the main course, my bride orders the sirloin and I order the ribeye, we both get salad. The egg rolls arrive first, looking very homemade. OMFG, they are soooo good. Watch out for the juicy squirt (fresh sauerkraut). Ok, house salad - you'd think nothing special needs to be said about a house salad, we'll let me tell you, house made croutons, house made dressings. It's these small little touches that make a big difference. The steaks were fantastic, the sides perfectly done. The service- on point. The only drawback was the little black flies bugging my legs throughout our visit. But hey, it's northern Minnesota, it comes with the territory and can be easily fixed with a couple of Vector or Lavex bug catchers. Overall, I shall finish pontificating. My suffencies have been sorrencified!
