I revisited Fufu Pancake to get Nomsmag ice cream festival limited item. Black Sesame Mochi Kakigori Shaved ice, black sesame sauce, black sesame whipped cream, shiratamako mochj, brown sugar syrup, vanilla ice cream, chocolate cookie crumbles. Black sesame sauce was rich and paired well with brown sugar syrup over the top of shaved ice. At the beginning, I wish ice cream was also black sesame flavor instead of vanilla ice, but, I think Vanilla ice cream balanced the flavor of sauce and syrup, not being overpowering, so, it worked so well. Shiratama mochi and chocolate cookie crumble was really fun! It was very flavorful Shaved ice. So delicious, highly recommend

I wanted to come to Fufu Pancake for awhile but every time I would call them on the weekends they would be fully booked so I got a reservation there 5 days prior. It's a pretty small cafe, don't think a big group would be suitable. For drinks I got their lavender latte and loved it because it had a strong lavender flavour (I know not everyone likes that). For food, my favourite was their tiramisu pancake! It was the right amount of sweet and so fluffy!! The flavours were decedent!! It came with ice cream and a syrup on the side which definitely added to it. Their eggs benny with smoked salmon was also pretty good, I loved the fluffy-ness of the pancakes! I was a bit disappointed with the okonomiyaki pancake, it lacked flavour but the presentation was good. When I go back, I'll probably try more of their sweet pancakes because they sounded amazing!

Transport me back to a cute Japanese cafe in Japan. This place is so cute and the Japanese cafe vibes really come alive. They decorated really nicely and they even have a viewing window for the making of the souflee pancakes. It was easy to book a reservation for Saturday morning for a large group and the service was pretty good for a small place. They took our order when ready but we did have to wait a decent (not long) for all the orders for 7 people to come out together. The quality and the presentation was good. The flavors delicious. I don't know of any other place to get these pancakes back home so it was a real treat. Highly recommend trying the sesame latte if you are into that black sesame flavor as it was a group favorite. It is heavy though and filling - to be warned.

this place has been on my list for a while now. we showed up at 2:00 pm on a sunday, resos secured for a table of four, ready to conquer the fluffy soufflé pancakes...until i saw kakigori. we oohed and ahhed at the menu, it read like a dream. everything sounded ahh-mazing, and the pictures didn't help; they just made choosing even that much harder. truth be told, i'm not a pancake person. but japanese soufflé pancakes, that's a whole different category of goodness. pillowy soft, cloud like, with just the right amount of jiggle. (the secret is separating the egg whites and freezing them briefly before mixing, science and fluff combined, plus a lot of labour intensive whisking and then folding, which i absolutely do not have the discipline nor the stamina for.) i caved and ordered one of their large ice cream desserts, the black sesame kakigori, which came piled high with shaved ice, black sesame sauce, black sesame whipped cream, shiratama mochi, brown sugar syrup, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and topped with chocolate chip sprinkles. the texture was fun and layered, sadly though, the ice wasn't quite as soft and fluffy as i'd hoped. there were chunks of ice chips, and lacked the snowy consistency. scooping the shaved ice got a little messy, but it was nutty, not too sweet, and slightly creamy. i was lucky to get a generous taste of both the seasonal mango daifuku soufflé pancake and the eggs benny with oyama sausage. the mango one came with three stacked soufflé pancakes, fresh ataulfo mango, whipped cream, house made mochi, a drizzle of mango purée, and a sprinkling of strawberry bits. it was soft, bouncy, and just the right balance of sweet, tart and a touch of salt. the savoury version was rich and satisfying, a nice contrast, and worth the 25 minute wait. the café itself is a cute, tiny shop on west broadway, cozy and bright, with a friendly buzz. the kitchen is open and visible from the dining area, so you get a peek into the pancake magic, the precision, and the gentle folding. i was mesmerized watching the staff work with such focus and care. our server was lovely, the water jug constantly topped up, we were offered extra cups, spoons, and plates, to share our orders, and our plates were cleared promptly when we were finished. there was a lineup by the door, but not once were we rushed. this was a sweet, satisfying sunday visit. next time: i'm sticking to the pancakes and maybe watching a little more of that kitchen magic while i wait.

I went here for brunch with my friend on a Friday morning and the restaurant was quite busy! We managed to get a seat and we we ordered a drink each, a savoury pancake, and a sweet pancake. Unfortunately, there was no more avocado available at the time, so I got the okonomiyaki soufflé pancake. We were served our drinks first and I thought that the strawberry milk was very refreshing. It did not taste too sweet and the flavour was not artificial (it tasted like they use fresh strawberries)! As for the pancakes, the okonomiyaki pancake was very flavourful and the serving was big. I was having a bit of trouble finishing the plate as the flavour got a bit strong after a while. The texture of the pancake was so good. It was light and fluffy and tasted great in both the savoury and sweet option. I'd recommend the classic soufflé pancake for anyone wanting to try! This is a pretty good and unique brunch spot, and I like that they have both sweet and savoury menu item! I'd definitely come back.

Tiramisu pancake $18 The pancake is very fluffy and springy. I can taste a bit egg but the mascarpone sauce, cacao powder and espresso shot offset the egg smell. Over all very enjoy it. The wait for the pancake is pretty long. There was a line inside.

Tried matcha and tiramisu soufflé pancakes and love them both. The first order was tiramisu soufflé and it took a while to came out. From arriving, waiting for a table, order and to finish the first order of the pancake took a bit more than an hour. Second order came out quick. Public paid parking at the ToyRUs nearby. Very casual.

Not sure why this place has 3.5 stars as it was one of our favorite places in Vancouver. This place gets sooo busy, definitely get there early to get a seat. We got the matcha mochi and okonomiyaki pancakes--one sweet and one savory! The pancakes were sooo soft and fluffy. Everything on the menu sounded so good, definitely would come back to try other items. They are severely understaffed here, but the workers are trying their best :)

I would eat here every day if I could. Honestly would even consider moving here just because Vancouver has fufu cafe. The fluffy soufflé pancakes are so light and soft that it's not a heavy breakfast at all. The eggs Benedict had the perfect poach and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. I was nervous that a specialty pancake place wouldn't nail the Benedict but they did. The sausage was the perfect amount of sweet to balance the savory eggs Benedict. The pancakes had a neutral flavor so they weren't too sweet or too savory for the dish. The salad was dressed with kewpie sesame and it was such a nice light Sal and to balance the decadent pancakes. The mango sando was so refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. It reminded me of my childhood eating butter and sugar toast but way lighter and refreshing. The matcha strawberry milk was definitely very strong in the matcha flavor but the sweet strawberry was the perfect balance to counter the bitter matcha. Service was excellent and friendly. We asked about the Tamago sando and they said they didn't offer the savory sandwiches today, but they ended up making it for us anyway! We took them home to enjoy and they were absolutely delicious. Tasted like I was back in Japan enjoying my Family Mart breakfast. The seating is limited so definitely try to go right when they open to get a spot. It's bright and airy, giving a very relaxing environment to enjoy the delicious food and drinks!

    Earl Grey Crème Brûlée Pancakes

It pains me to be writing such a middling review because I wanted to love this place. Drink: Flat White Food: Earl Grey Crème Brûlée Soufflé Pancay The space is cute and functional. The area is clean and bright. My server was nice, but she seemed to be running the entire front by herself and seemed overwhelmed even though it wasn't super busy My flat white came out very quickly. It was also piping hot and served in a glass cup without a handle, so I was unable to even pick it up for a few minutes. It was nothing exciting, perfectly serviceable. It took fully 30 minutes for my pancakes to arrive, by which point i was long finished with my coffee. The presentation of the dish was fantastic, absolutely cute as a button. Lots of little edible decorations and details that are a real feast for the eyes. While they have managed to get the fluffiness right on the cakes, they lack structure and fall apart almost instantly. The texture is lacking because of this, lacking any satisfying chew, just becoming sweet goop. These are soufflé, but still pancakes and should be more substantive as a meal. The Earl Grey topping was nice at first, but became a bit overpowering with each successive bite. Sad to say that the Creme Brûlée was barely noticeable and added almost nothing to the dish. By the end, I didn't really even want to finish it. Honestly, the best part of the whole plate was the vanilla ice cream and Biscoff pairing. The ice cream was excellent and contrasted well against the cakes. I was excited to start my day with a decadent sweet treat, but was just left wanting.

We were craving souffle pancakes and Fufu Cafe did not disappoint us. I used to taste only sweet souffles so glad to know that they offer savoury as well. But first, I enjoyed their Halloween special menu which is ube and pumpkin-flavoured souffle pancakes with vanilla ice cream such a cute spooky and lovely presentation. As for the taste, the pancakes were so fluffy and pillowy with the right amount of sweetness that goes well with the whipped cream, ube-pumpkin puree and vanilla ice cream. For their savoury pancake, we had the Egg Benedict souffle pancake with smoked salmon($22), I was surprised by how delicious the combination of soft souffle which is a little sweet to the smoked salmon, egg and hollandaise sauce was, their side salad was fresh with tasty dressing as well. Overall, the place has a simple yet nice setup, the food presentation is on point, kind staff, and of course, the menus are both sweet and savoury are delicious, they have more options on their menus that I'd love to come back to taste their other flavours. Highly recommended for brunch, desserts, and simply coffee moments.

I went here for brunch with a friend and we both had a fantastic experience. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and the cafe was calm but bright and had a very classy interior. I ordered the egg benedict souffle pancake with Oyama sausages and was pleasantly surprised at how well the sweet fluffy pancakes mixed with the savory flavour of the eggs and sausage. My friend ordered the Tiramisu Souffle Pancake and truly enjoyed it. I tried a bite and it was very sweet but balanced well with the side of espresso given. I would go back again for a fun brunch with friends.

We dove into the Thai Milk Tea Panna Cotta Soufflé Pancake (summer edition) at Fufu Cafe - snagged a fab BOGO 50% off deal during the Bubble Tea Passport event. This was a steal! The trio of soufflé pancakes was a dream, crowned with Thai tea-infused whipped cream and brown sugar tapioca pearls. Alongside, a Thai milk tea panna cotta and a drizzle of brown sugar syrup set the stage. Those pancakes were such a delight. They were soft and oh-so-fluffy. The Thai tea whipped cream gave a bubble tea twist, and the brown sugar syrup playtime was a sweet bonus. I enjoyed the balance of sweetness, which was perfect for my taste. A shout-out to the Thai milk tea panna cotta - it added a fantastic combination. Love, love, loved this dish! Sweetness: 5/5 Taste: 5/5 Unique: 4/5 Presentation: 3/5 Parking: Metered parking on the street Tips: * is made-to-order, a 20-minute fluffy adventure that's totally worth the wait! * makes sure to secure your spot with a reservation, especially on bustling weekends and holidays. * has a minimum order/spending per person for table reservations. * is the place to be a brunch or a date, Would I Return: Yes ‍

Jam Cafe, Vancouver Jam Cafe is my favorite brunch spot. Anywhere. That sounds like an exaggeration. It isn't. I've been traveling to Vancouver for work for almost a decade, and every single trip includes a stop at Jam. If I'm lucky, two. I've also become that coworker who convinces everyone to meet outside at 7:45 in the morning so we can be part of the first seating at 8:00. Thankfully, we're all from the East Coast and have been awake since 5:00 anyway. Over the years I've successfully JAMfluenced more business travelers than I'd like to admit. And yes, it's still worth the wait even if you're not first in line. The restaurant itself is tiny. Cozy farmhouse vibes, mismatched decorations covering the walls, and maybe 15 tables between the dining room and patio. It feels more like someone's favorite neighborhood breakfast spot than one of Vancouver's brunch institutions. The menu is comfort food turned up to eleven. Everything is indulgent, creative, and somehow still balanced. You can tell the kitchen starts with great ingredients because every component tastes like it could stand on its own. I try to branch out every visit... and then usually end up ordering the Tater Tot Bowl anyway. Crispy tater tots, buffalo sauce, Mexican street corn relish, and ridiculously good pulled pork. It's the kind of dish that sounds like it shouldn't work, but every bite somehow gets better than the last. And then there are the cinnamon roll pancakes. They are enormous. They're also one of the best brunch dishes I've ever eaten. Birdfluencer Lorraine M. declared them the best pancakes she's ever had, and after several visits, I don't have much of an argument. Service is exactly what it needs to be. Friendly, efficient, and quick. The staff knows there's a line forming outside before the doors even open, but you never feel rushed. Overall, Jam Cafe has officially become part of my Vancouver tradition. At this point, a work trip to the city doesn't really start until I've had breakfast here. If you're visiting Vancouver and only have time for one brunch, this would be my pick without a second thought.

I hardly made a dent in my food though. There was a bit of a wait for the bathrooms. I loved the decor too. Honestly I see the hype for this place, but I believe it's mainly for their HUGE portions. Dont get me wrong the food was delicious! But I don't think waiting in a line is necessary for this place.

Solid reviews on Yelp had us on the way. What a great little spot! There used to be so many diners of this style, it's a shame so many are no longer there for us to enjoy a simpler time. It's 100% diner right down to the mini juke boxes in each booth to the red and chrome bar stools. Even found an old Kellogg's individual cereal box display like one we had in my parents diner in Ontario, that was very cool! The service was spot on with our two servers working in unison to get waters, tea, orders, delivering food, cleaning up like a well oiled team. They even have old fashioned milk shakes and an Hamilton Beach machine to blend them up. WOW, nostalgia. The food came out quickly and was cooked exactly as we asked, and it was plentiful and a solid breakfast for the price. My potatoes were a little greasy, to me, but everything else was perfect. The bacon, three slices, of good quality and perfectly crispy as ordered. We will most certainly return to The Templeton when downtown again. Portable old fashion jukeboxes on each table, too bad none are functioning, only for show, could have used a little Elvis Presley during my meal. Ordered the classic benny and huevos rancheros. Hollandaise sauce on the benny was excellent with a slight lemon tanginess. Eggs runny, smoked ham on a crispy muffin. Heaven's perfect breakfast creation. Huevos rancheros could use improvement. Scrambled eggs with green pepper and onions could have used some additional seasoning. Black beans didn't seem fresh but then again I'm not a black bean expert, rosemary potatoes were crispy with a moist center. My husband and I ordered the strawberry refresher, classic soufflé pancakes, avocado eggs Benedict on a croffle, and the teriyaki chicken karaage. The strawberry refresher was delicious and probably my favorite part of the meal. The classic soufflé pancakes, however, weren't quite what I expected. They didn't look nearly as aesthetic as the photos, there were some burnt areas, and the flavor felt like it was missing something -- just slightly bland overall. The avocado eggs Benedict was okay, but the hollandaise sauce had a flavor I couldn't quite identify that tasted a little off to me. The tater tots also had a strange fishy-type seasoning or flavor that I personally didn't enjoy at all. The teriyaki chicken karaage wasn't as crispy as I expected either. The outside lacked crunch, and parts of the chicken were a little soggy inside. That said, the employees were very nice and respectful, the restaurant itself was very clean, and the service was fast. Ordering is done through a kiosk, which made the process simple and efficient.
