This entire group used to be good but over the last several years they have seriously gone down in…read morethe quality of care. My wife has literally had 5 different primary care doctors in the last 2 years because the doctors leave this organization. And recently they have ended their affiliation with Aetna after we paid and set this up through the marketplace and recently informed us that we need to switch care to other doctors. They gave us 30 days to make this switch!!! We have been with them for 14 years. My entire family. Do you how much work and difficulty this creates for patients. They probably have 100's and 100's of patients they are basically kicking out of their network. It's truly disgusting.

While during that office visit I complained of severe stomach pains and was told a CT scan was being ordered. They never called, I then had a 102 temp, I emailed the Dr. And explained that after a disagreement about $ I was told I no longer was a patient but for 30 days he was still my Dr. For emergency. Well I ended up in the ER, with a ruptured appendix and a Mass the size of a watermelon. I could have died since my appendix ruptured a week prior (when I was at Dr) but was saved by my body forming a mass around the appendix holding in infection. I informed intercoastal that I was in the hospital, not one person or even my Dr. of 9 years called or checked on me. I was left alone. Unforgivable

Have been a patient here for many years, it is good to have all your doctors under one umbrella…read more Makes it easy for them to see the meds you are on when seeing other doctors. That being said this Medical Group has literally saved my life. I went in for a checkup and they diagnosed and treated a life threatening condition. I am alive today thanks to these doctors. I have used the family practice, cardiology, physical therapy and gastroenterology. All have been informative and professional cannot recommend them highly enough. If you are a tourist in FL your experience may be different but for the locals these are my doctors!

I pretty much agree with most of these comments here about what poor quality healthcare you get at…read moreintercoastal. I find it hysterical that my endocrinologist Dr Wende Kozlow fired me although I had had enough of the disrespect in mistreatment from them and I was moving on to a better doctor anyway. I tried many times to get them to give me test results when I get blood work or test and it takes minimum of 10 days before they answer you they lie to you and tell you that they don't get the results. I find it hard to believe that Sarasota hospital does not send them the results And only them because two of my other doctors got their results 10 days sooner. They must be on the crap list for Sarasota memorial that they don't get their results because there's no other explanation that they're the only ones that don't get them ever. They don't care about you and your health. Don't ever say something to the effect of "I'm sure the doctor cares more about my health then to let me suffer and not call me back and that got me fired. I didn't accuse them. I said I'm sure you don't want me to suffer. That's a lot different than accusing them of making me suffer, but I got fired which was the best thing that could've ever happened to me don't go there cause you are nothing to them. They don't care about you as a person. I have multiple health problems in desperate need of an endocrinologist and she refers me back to my family doctor that's how much they care! She was a fairly good doctor, but her office staff sucks! They're the ones who made the mess out of this. They're the ones that don't call me back and they are the ones who are very rude all the time! Save you the stress when you when you need a doctor and find a better place than intercoastal!!!! Your office staff can make you or break you in this case they definitely will break you! Not only is this my problem with them, but they asked me to have records sent to them because of my multiple problems. The pile of 9 x 12 records was over a foot high and they shredded them! Came all away from Ohio and they shredded them! Again crappy office staff! A doctor is not supposed to ever destroy records for 10 years but yet they destroyed all the ones that I paid to have sent to them! Cost me a lot of money that's how much they care about you! I can't say enough bad about them. I've had so many bad experiences. All I can say is beware there's so many other better doctors here in this town. Good luck.

This is a large group with many offices in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. I've been a patient for…read moreabout 8 years, but am now looking for alternatives as it is very hard to be a patient here - you have to put up with a fair amount of "attitude" from the office staff. (I have been using the Potter Park office, but recently moved and will probably try another of their offices/MDs.) On the plus side: I did like my MD - and I need someone local just for those times I might need an antibiotic. The annual check ups are quite brief. Some blood work, a look in the eyes, ears, listening to the heart, and a bit more. Never more than 15 minutes, but that is pretty much the norm it seems, unless you go to a specialist for an extensive work up. The nurses are nice, but you can expect to be on hold for ten minutes or more every time you call. It took me 19 minutes this morning to reach a nurse for some information. I had left instructions for them to leave the info in my voice mail - but that is apparently too much to ask. It's been like that for all 8 years. And they don't seem to keep their files well organized. Trying to get documents from another specialist, even one of their own in another office, into your file for permanent storage is sketchy and unreliable. Example - a few years ago they had a really tough time getting a copy of my colonoscopy results, even though it was done by another doctor in their group. Good thing I saved my copy and brought it in. Having an out of town doctor send paperwork in to them sometimes got in my file, sometimes not. The office staff seems to regard it as a huge inconvenience. They did switch to a new computer system a few years ago, and it seems to have improved things, but I wouldn't rely on them to keep critical paperwork. The group has expanded over the years - they have their own blood center apparently - and I guess they have figured out how to work the system to maximize insurance payments and minimize costs. In short, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

Discharged Without Notice -- Serious Communication Failure…read more I was very disappointed with Intercoastal Medical Group, Beneva Road. My doctor discharged me without any notice, even though I am 80 years old, and had been on prescribed medication from their office for a long time. Without renewal, there is a risk of serious health consequences. Communication was also difficult, and when I tried to discuss my concerns, I was told they don't share email contacts for managers or doctors. I hope Intercoastal Medical will take greater responsibility for continuity of care and clearer communication with patients.

First physicians Group has several doctors working in the practice providing general medical care…read moreand consultations. It's located next to Sarasota memorial hospital. There is a parking garage and also valet parking if you prefer. My appointment with Dr. Shah almost always runs on time. I rate Dr. shah as an excellent doctor. He doesn't rush me and takes the time to do a thorough consultation. The only reason I am not giving five stars is because of how difficult it is to get through to this office on the phones. It can sometimes take over an hour of waiting. They do offer a call back service but if you miss that then you have to start all over again. Given how busy they are and how many doctors they have, they should really employ more people for the phones. It's often quicker to drive there and speak to the front desk than it is to call in.

He was rude and intimidating, and he told me, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out." So I left. I also once found a doctor I liked, but he immediately ordered a heart scan that came with a large copay. I didn't believe it was necessary, given my excellent health and athletic lifestyle. When I returned, I was told he had retired; no one had informed me. I've also had other disappointing experiences. I often feel that patients aren't given enough attention and that the practice operates like a corporate production line. I've had problems with the front-desk staff, too, and I'm not alone in feeling dissatisfied. Unfortunately, the practice is tied to Sarasota Memorial, which no longer accepts my UnitedHealthcare plan. I've had difficulties with both organizations and find them overly corporate. I personally prefer Doctors Hospital. That's my choice, informed in part by my own medical background and training. I have a degree in health science, nursing administration. spent two year clinical in nursing homes. I have a background in mind body medicine, and I was a adult aging social worker, so I do have a background and normally I'm extraordinarily happy with any medical facility except this one, but of course that's just my opinion and my experience. If I could drop this by, reliable MD is one of the best organizations I have ever been to, but that's just a side
